April 1995....
The next week, Amanda woke up really early, got dressed before the kids woke up.
Since Daniel's funeral, Amanda wasn't mentally strong enough to come to work, so after a few weeks, her boss called her to start work by Monday.
As much as Amanda loved her kids, she also loved her work.
When Daniel was still alive, Amanda baked almost every week. Their family was strong and it's hopefully going to remain that way.
Before leaving, Amanda wrote a note saying, ' Good morning Savannah and Adam, by the time you're reading this letter, I would've already gone to work. Sorry for not making the cereal for you. Take care of your sister, love you and hope you enjoy your breakfast.
From, mom'
And placed it carefully on the cereal box.
Since Adam is the oldest, naturally, he woke up before Savannah. He got dressed in his white and blue t-shirt with black shorts before going to the dining table. He was about to make a bowl of cereal when he saw the note on the cereal box.
Adam didn't know what to expect. This was the first time his mom left him home alone with his sister.
While thinking of what to do, Savannah walked to the dining table already dressed in her favorite green dress. She sat on her seat and scratched her eyes for a while before asking for her mom.
Adam sat next to her and said, " Mummy has gone out, she'll be back in a while".
"But I want to see her now". Savannah whined.
"Don't worry, if you're hungry I'll make breakfast for you", he said as he held her hand. This was the first time he ever bothered to speak with his little sister, usually he'll just ignore her.
Savannah didn't say anything and just looked away from him. Adam didn't know what to do so he just opened the cereal box and followed the instructions written at the back.
"Here, I've made breakfast for you", he said as he brought a spoonful close to her mouth. She didn't eat the food at first but after a few minutes she finally gave in.
Adam continued feeding Savannah like that until she finished her food.
Not knowing what to do, he went to the living room with his bowl of cereal and turned on the TV. He put it on his favorite channel and watched it while eating his food.
Savannah got bored sitting on the dining table doing nothing so she decided to meet her brother in the living room. Upon seeing what he was watching, she didn't really understand it so she tugged at her brothers shirt in order to get his attention, her idea worked and Adam slightly turned his head, already annoyed by Savannah's presence.
"Can you change the channel?" Savannah said in her most adorable voice but Adam didn't care and just ignored her. Savannah didn't give up and tugged at his shirt again but this time Adam stood up from the couch already enraged when he accidentally knocked over his cereal bowl causing the cereal to pour all over his shorts.
"What do you want!? Why are disturbing me!? Now look what you've done, I have to go and change now", Adam shouted before storming out of the room leaving Savannah all alone in the living room.
Suddenly, a wave of guilt washed over her and her heart suddenly felt heavy, like as though someone had tugged on it.
She sat on the couch and tears began to fall from her eyes. She didn't know why but she felt bad for what happened to Adam.
While Savannah was seated on the couch, with her head low, kicking the air. Adam walked in and before approaching her, he watched everything from afar.
Watching his little sister cry for no apparent reason made him feel bad. Even though they weren't really that close, it still hurt to see her sad. He approached her and sat slowly next to her. She didn't really notice his presence until he put his hand on her shoulder. She kept on crying even after the both of them hugged.
"I'm really sorry Adam, I didn't mean it".
"No it's not your fault. And also, I forgive you", he said as he wiped her tears.
After some time, the two of them bridged the gap that was separating them and made up. After watching TV for a few hours, Savannah fell asleep on Adam's shoulder so Adam decided to turn of the TV and fall asleep as well.

By the time Amanda arrived at work, it was already past 9.
Since Amanda, Trisha and her friend Kimberly are the only employees at Bentley Bakery, it was really hard for them to manage at the small bakery.
Since Trisha's the oldest working at the bakery, she automatically got the post of being the manager. Amanda handles the backing while Kimberly handles the register.
Kimberly is the youngest working at the bakery since she's still in highschool and doesn't know how to bake yet which sorts out why Trisha and Amanda are the one's who actually bake.
The owner's of the bakery, Mr and Mrs Bentley, run a fair every 3 years and during that fair, they set up a little stand in front of the bakery giving away new samples of their pastries to advertise their work to new comers in the city. The fair is only done for 4 hours every day for a week. Today was the day before that ' special week' which meant that Trisha and Amanda had to work extra hard in baking new delicacies before the next day. The special week isn't only about advertisment, infact, it was brought mainly to celebrate their success in the first week of april. It also has a big deal in their work because it determines if their going to get fired or a raise in their paycheck.
