To catch a fish a wolf must swim,
To bust a ghost a wolf must scream.
While returning home Lupin was mulling over the above poem muttered by Evan a few minutes prior over phone. Come on, what's its meaning? Was it a warning or a riddle?
When he opened the gate of his house, a memory of Clara's apparition came flushing into his mind. Perhaps it was an answer.
He put the keys in its place and went inside bathroom. When he emerged out of bathroom, he could see that Clara was before him. He felt a goosebump.
He was confirm now that it was not a dream. It was reality. Then it was true that Clara was dead. Then he had actually murdered Clara - his wife. Then he was a murderer now. But as far as he could remember, he did not kill her in his human form. Rather he had killed his wife turning into a wolf. So, George was right, he was a werewolf. He was a beast. A monster. So whatever he felt in the forest was also true. Somehow he could turn into a wolf while unconscious. That's why he did not have the memory of his turning into a werewolf most of the times.
Now he could see Clara raising her hands aiming at him. So, he would levitate in the midair. Then, what had happened yesterday was not a dream - it was a reality and the wolves outside were real werewolves. Perhaps they were the ones who made him sleep in the bed to make it appear that what he had experience was just a dream. Were they taking care of him? Did they protect him from Clara's apparition? Was Clara's apparition there to kill him? Take revenge upon him? And did Evan provide me with a clue for survival? Was the shewolf a there too to teach him the way to become a werewolf? Was the shewolf used by some mastermind who wanted to protect him?
While he was confused with all these questions Clara's intensity of gaze got firey and he felt like his throats choking. Then one loud voice in his head started shouting: Go unconscious. Go unconscious.
He devised ways to go unconscious. A humorous voice, though he was feeling like dying, said: You'll choke now to death. Before dying, you'll be unconscious. So, no need to think of ways to go unconscious.
He waited a few seconds. To check if the humourous voice's perception was correct or not. But his sixth sense told him that the humorous voice was wrong. So, he had no other way than becoming unconscious and turn into a werewolf and howl hard and scare Clara's apparition out of his house.
He gathered all his might and ran askance inside his house and hit his head hard on the walls. But knowingly hitting the walls did not make him unconscious.
MAN, YOU'VE TO SAVE YOURSELF. FOR THAT YOU HAVE TO LOSE YOUR SENSES. he thought out loud.
He knelt down and hit his head on mMehogany hardwood floor. Blood came from his forehead. Feeling the warm thick blood flowing from his head, he felt dizzy. He hit his head harder two more times muttering: Hard, harder, hardest. Then at last he felt stars flying around his head and he fell unconscious on the ground.
