Mihael could teleport to any part of the house by the third month and the entire neighborhood by the fourth.
They lived on the outskirts of Angel's Halo, the city of gods; a cluster of cloud islands.
The gods of high statuses lived in the central part and the lower-tiered gods lived in in-between the higher gods and the high angels; meanwhile, the lower angels such as Mihael's parents, lived in the furthest corners of the city. These parts couldn't be called a city. It was more like a cluster of villages. The villagers lived far away from each other. There were at least a few kilometers worth of sky between the houses, so people didn't really bother others in their land.
Besides, angels didn't need food, water, or any other things anyway. But they did like the idea of having things and doing things in a mortal manner; gave them a sort of purpose. After all, despite living for 7-8 centuries, they were still mortal anyway.
The villages themselves were on floating islands and hundreds of kilometers away from each other. So technically, there weren't many angels crowded in a small island at the edges.
If anything, there were too few.
.
..
…
With the first year of angel hood gone, Mihael not only knew more about the world than most gods but even learned spells that low-tiered gods couldn't cast without extreme consequence, he, however, wasn't satisfied with the thought of becoming a low-tiered god, but he didn't really care all that much about it. As long as he got to experience new things, and have fun, it was good enough.
However, he could already foresee a day, when nothing would be fun anymore.
This was also when he hit upon a theory that perhaps he'd reincarnated in purpose because his last life was just too boring. Which was why he stopped trying to remember his past life.
And just-
Enjoy life.
After all- the point of living-
Was to have fun and live to the fullest.
By year two, he finished every book in the rural library which was said to contain a thousand years of knowledge. All that was left was the books in the central city and then go explore the world! But ordinary angels weren't permitted to travel there unless they desperately needed to. And certainly not a lesser angel.
Despite how the Sacred Church heralded that they didn't discriminate against any being, there was still discrimination in heaven. The high angels and the high-tier gods almost always looked down upon the lower ones. Such was the way of the world. And heaven wasn't an exception.
As for exploring the world?
Angels weren't permitted to trespass on the mortal realms… at least not without one of the supreme god's permission. And getting that permission wasn't necessarily easy either. Actually, becoming a god might have been easier.
"By the way Mihael, what do you want to do? You already know more than us, so we don't know what's really best for you," Derke said over breakfast.
It was true; they couldn't make up a good plan for Mihael's future. So, they decided to leave it all to him.
After all- it was his life.
But they did want the best for him.
"I think I'd prefer to stay as we are for now. What do angels do anyway?"
He was here for two years yet he didn't understand their work.
And the sacred texts didn't really specify that either.
"We work for the gods and-"
And on paper that was true.
But in actuality, Mihael never saw Derke leave the house or do anything for the gods.
"Yes, I got that much, but what do you do for work? As in what work do you do?"
"I'm a farmer so-" So he farmed all sorts of food and sold it in the village market- hundreds of kilometers away.
People might mistake angels as beings who don't need food or drink or even sleep but such was not the case; they could go without food for a few months but sleep was essential. Even gods need occasional sleep. Reality was often ironic.
"We don't help humans or-" Mihael couldn't finish.
"Nope, not anymore. I think our ancestors used to do that… why do you ask?"
'Strange. Why did I think that?' Mihael thought.
He stared around the room, at the walls- at the ceiling- at the dirty plates… 'Why 'did' I think of that?'
"Anyway, I'd like things to remain as they are at least for now," Mihael said.
He was still having fun.
Much less than before but- but it was fun regardless.
And he wanted to keep it that way.
"Alright then."
