Chapter 6 - Hunting Memory

Roselle ran to the floor where Nate lay. The sight of him sprawled with blood almost made her go crazy. "Who the hell did this to him?" Roselle yelled.

All hands in the bar went cold. No one dared to speak mindful of the trouble they might get themselves into.

She couldn't imagine anything bad happening to Nate. Whoever it was that did this to him, will pay dearly for what he has done. She would personally make sure that his throat will be slit a thousand times if her hands gets on him.

When she asked again, no one answered. This infuriated her more. "No one wants to answer me huh?!" She flew into more rage. No one has ever dared to harm her or whatever that belongs to her since she had become what she was now.

Out of this anger which made her jaw clench and her fist ball, she quickly grabbed a bottle of wine and smashed it on the head of a man who had stood watching the scene, knocking him out unconsciously.

"Roselle!" Tina screamed, rushing towards her "That's enough, you will kill an innocent man!" Tina grabbed her friend and pulled her out.

As if she suddenly realized that someone was fighting for his life, Roselle ran out of Tina's grip to the floor again where Nate was. She held him up and cried bitterly, "Tina call the ambulance, he might die here!"

Tina stood transfixed. "That will raise suspicions from the police."

"I don't care! We have to save him first." She ordered.

"Let's get the car and take him by ourselves instead, I can't afford…"

"Then go and get it! Stop grumbling and get the car!" Roselle interrupted.

The dazed look on the faces of the people was now replaced with a scornful expression as they hated Roselle for what she did to an innocent man out of anger. That was one of the things about Roselle, she could subconsciously do the craziest things out of anger.

"But what of my brother? Who would save him?" One man suddenly shouted, pouring water on the face of the man Roselle had hit with the bottle, but no one cared to look at him, and all attention was drawn to saving Nate.

"Nate, hold on tight, I will save you." Roselle cried bitterly in the car. Another memory of the past event in her life she had fought so hard to submerge resurfaced, looming over her whole being as Nate's blood continued to gush in the car.

"Tina drive faster!" Roselle cried out from the back seat where she held Nate close to her body. Her brain went blank. She leaned back on the chair, fighting to control the pain in her head.

The picture of another hurtful event when she lost her parents in an accident came back. The more she fought to get it off, the more it loomed over her. The terror burned in her head and she began to sweat profoundly.

"Dad!" Roselle suddenly screamed in the car.

Tina who was driving shook with fear hearing Roselle scream that. "Roselle you have to control yourself, don't let this destroy you." Tina shivered, fighting to control the steering at the speed of the car. She was afraid that her friend will lose it again.

Tina looked over at the back seat, Roselle's body was covered with sweat and her body was quivering. Tina increased the speed of the car, driving faster to the hospital.

Roselle tried as much as possible to control herself but she couldn't. The picture of what happened that day continued to strike her memory.

"Dad!" she screamed again as she saw her father's blood splash on her body, the glass of the car broke to pieces, and it splashed on her parents who were sitting in front.

"Mum!" Roselle continued to scream as she saw her mother's body fall from the front seat where she sat.

Suddenly, the car began to tumble. Roselle continued to scream, her little body hitting violently on the body of the car as it tumbled. She struggled to crawl and stay under the front seat. Succeeding to stay under the seat, the seat was able to hold her from tumbling.

Fear dominated her whole body. Suddenly the car stopped tumbling and everywhere seemed quiet. She managed to crawl out from under the seat, her body weak with fear.

"Dad, mum." She called, shaking the unconscious bodies of her parents as their blood continued to pour inside the car.

Suddenly, someone began to hit the car violently and she was cut with fear again. She crawled back immediately under the front seat. The door broke and it was flung to one side, then she saw the flashing of torchlight in the car.

"Boss, he is dead." Roselle heard a deep voice say.

"Good job, make sure you leave no trace." Another male voice spoke.

"Yes, boss." The first male voice responded. After some minutes, she heard the sound of their footsteps scrambling out of the place. Roselle crawled out of the car through the door they had broken.

Everywhere was covered with darkness and she discovered that their car had tumbled into the bush. Again, she heard whispers of men. "I told you there was a little girl with them you didn't believe me. Now you made the boss to be angry with us."

"Let's just pray we find her, and we will get our hands off this damn job. I don't want to get my hands stained with innocent blood anymore."

"Me too." The second voice agreed.

Roselle heard their whispering discussion. Immediately, she hid inside the bush. After some minutes, she heard them yelling at each other. "Now you see, the girl escaped. What are we going to tell the boss!"

"It's not my fault don't blame me for that!" The other retorted and before he knew what was happening, his partner had aimed a punch at his face. The two of them began to fight, approaching the area where Roselle had crumbled her tiny body.

Roselle felt the need to get out of that place before they notice her. She tip-toed out of the bush and her little feet began to run.

In the middle of the fight, one of the men shouted, "That's her!" They began to run towards her.

Little Roselle was shocked with fresh terror as she heard the feet of the men scrambling towards her. She screamed, her breath catching in her chest as her little feet continued to run in the dark.

Suddenly, her feet froze. She felt she needed to shake off something on her feet. When she looked down, the insect had bit into her skin and at this point, several hands were dragging her backwards.

"Let me go! Let me go!" Roselle screamed at the top of her voice.
