Ariana set her telephone down before she finally dialled her P.A., and In a few seconds, a busty woman with a moderate suit on and her dark hair slicked back into a ponytail walked in.
"Platinum corporation just called to inform me they have a scheduled meeting with us on Tuesday?"
"Y- Yes, they insisted because... "
Ariana got up and grabbed her glass of coffee sitting on the desk next to a pile of files and splashed the whole content on her just as Steven walked in, dressed in a neat corporate suit with his hair laid back and his demeanor devilish and calm.
However, he had walked in In time to see Ariana ruthlessly slap a whole cup of coffee over her P.A standing in front of her.
A smirk formed on his lips as he stood at the door, enjoying the show with his hands deep in his pockets, leaning against the door frame.
"How's the coffee?" Ariana asked with an evil smirk, landing the cup so hard on the desk that the P.A. trembled with her head bowed.
"It's... It's warm." She murmured, not knowing what else to say.
"That's too bad. Next time, I'll ensure It's boiling hot so I can record your screams of pain as your skin scalds and peels off." Her threatening words sent chilling feelings down the spine of the P.A.
"I ensured I informed every working staff including the cleaners that I would be gone for two weeks to attend my sister-in-law's wedding and I currently won't be able to attend any meetings until I return. Didn't I make myself clear?"
"Yes but they persistently insisted and threatened to cancel the deal they made with us earlier If we don't agree to the meeting."
"Then cancel the deal with Platinum Corporation. They can eat eat our revenue share from the business collaboration and die in hell."
Steven raised a brow. The CEO of Platinum Corporation was not as wealthy powerful as Ariana, but he knew the corporation and knew how much top businesses, companies, Estates and Agencies were dreaming to do a business coloration with them.
Ariana got the chance, and she was just going to cancel It and let them have the shares of her company from the business after all the investments she made with them?
The P.A. also had the same thoughts, but she feared that she even attempted to argue with her, she would do something worse than pouring coffee on her or she could even attempt ordered a hot steaming coffee and experimenting a weird ringtone formation on her.
"Yes Boss."
"Ugh! I can't believe I'm going to leave my company In the hands of an incompetent idiot like you. You better hope I don't find your replacement before I leave."
Not knowing what to say, she just bowed again. "I'm sorry Boss."
Ariana just sighed and held the bridge of her nose. She hasn't had much sleep in the past few days; trying to arrange and organize a couple things here before she left.
She had never actually taken a break for a while and It felt so strange to her leaving her work for a longer time than some hours, so she was really stressed about everything.
"Just get lost." And as she raised her head to watch her P.A scamper away, she was surprised to see her P.A bump right into the chest of Steven at the door.
As Delaney, her P.A. looked up, slowly rubbing her head, her eyes widened seeing a hot guy causally standing there, staring at her like she was a nuisance.
She felt he was just an ordinary person, but then there was this scary aura around him that caused the same chilling fear she was feeling earlier to amplify by ten.
"I... I'm sorry." She suddenly stammered, her hands still on his chest to support her as she secretly felt him up amazed at how hard and muscular he was; even underneath the suit.
"Can you get your hands away from me now?" He calmly asked, his hands still unmoving in his pockets.
She finally snapped out of her daydreaming of actually running her hands through his chiseled abs and hard chest before she ran out of the office, leaving the two alone.
Ariana just Ignored him and began gathering her files together as he approached her. Just as she sat down and heard him speak, she pushed her empty cup towards him.
"Refill."
Steven just stood there, yet to even sit. His eyes darkened with amusement at her audacity as he watched her go about her work like he was her maid, not even caring about what he wanted to say.
However, his hand curled around the cup, and after briefly glancing her over, he just turned and walked out silently, and Ariana barely raised her head from where It was buried in the files.
Steven could feel several eyes turning towards him in curiosity, the sounds of murmurs and whispers travelling around as he got a coffee refill for Ariana
However, he behaved indifferently and with a smouldering pan faced expression, he walked back to her office, ignoring the shameless stares mostly from the women there who looked like hungry wolves imagining him as a snack.
Ariana's head slightly raised up as he plopped down the cup of coffee on her desk before he sat down and leaned back.
"I never asked you to sit down. Do I need to remind you that this is my office and I am infact the CEO of the company and I decide If you can get a job here." When Steven raised a brow, she shut a file and finally folded her arms on the table in front of her, a serious frown on her face. "Don't forget the reason you chose to come here and don't forget your chances of succeeding in your schemes are in my hands."
At her words, he bit down on the inner skin of his lower lip before he silently got up and stood behind the chair before smirking and referring to her coffee this time.
"It's getting cold, aren't you going to drink It or are you planning on splashing it all over my face too?"
He was however rendered speechless when she grabbed the coffee and took a sip of it without a thought, dropping it and focusing on her files.
"You aren't even in the least worried that I may have poisoned it?" He smirked. "Isn't it too early for us to start trusting each other?"
She just scoffed, not even bothering to look at him.
"Like you'd have to balls to poison me in my territory." She finally glanced at him, amusing him once more at how she could stare right into his eyes like she was challenging him. "It's obvious most of my employees saw you heading to my office with my coffee and with My P.A as a witness to you being the last person I was with. If I happened to die, do you think you would go scott free with all the proclaimed evidence against you?"
Always thinking ahead? She's tough. Steven once again reluctantly agreed. But not tougher than me.
"Now have a seat." She said with a mocking twinkle in her eyes, and Steven hid his fury and rage with a smirk as he sat down just as Ariana finally brushed her work aside.
"I have given It some thought and yes, I finally decided to give you a job here. As you know, I would be attending my sister-in-law's wedding by Monday next week, and as a powerful woman President quickly rising to the top as one of the most influential tycoon In the country, I'm prone to danger from my enemies. Thus, I would be needing a bodyguard - someone who I can feel safe around and depend my life on."
Steven was quick enough to know where this conversation was heading to, and yet he couldn't figure out why her next words felt like a gut wretching announcement.
"And that person is you, Mr. Hallman. For the next three years in your course of working here as you wished, you are going to work as my bodyguard, and If in a situation something bad happens to me, I have the rights to seize all the rights you own as mine."
She suddenly pushed a contract which she had made beforehand towards him, and he glanced down at It to see she really isn't joking.
What the fuck?
