Chapter 10 - Trouble

Steven had just rolled the trash bag into the lake, and by the time he arrived in his car where Noah was seated waiting for him, he got a call.

"Mom?" He suddenly narrowed his eyes when an uneasy feeling washed over him like a bucket of ice cold water being poured on his head.

"Steven... " he wasn't too surprised to note the panic in her voice already, but he was anxious to know why she was calling him at such ungodly hour of the night.

Sure, he was burying the body of the person he had just killed and decapitated under water, his mom was supposed to be asleep by now.

"Amanda... " she sounded breathless like she was fighting back her tears. "I can't find her."

Noah clearly heard her since It was placed on loudspeaker and he jolted upright from where he was slouching on hearing her words.

Steven's brows twitched.

"What do you mean you can't find her? I made It clear that she shouldn't leave that room and you're telling me she's not there?"

Samantha's voice was shaky as she scanned her eyes around the room, looking for any sign that someone might have come in here to forcibly kidnap her, but there was none.

Aside the open wardrobe, nothing was out of place. But where was she? It was unlike her to leave without informing her at least.

"Well, I can't find her and I'm worried."

Steven sighed and rolled his eyes before he spoke into the phone. "I'm coming over right now. Don't cause any commotion or let the whole motel staff know she's missing. Stop crying."

With that, he threw the phone aside and Noah caught It, giving him a look before he shut the door and turned the ignition.

The engine reverberated resoundingly, before he flung the steering wheel to the side, the tires squeaking against the tarred road as Steven sped off- towards the next city.

"You said your... uh... Step mother had no clue where they could be? You think she might have something to do with this." Noah asked, already pulling out his phone to text his housemate A.K.A his twin sister who was in college on a scholarship that he was going to come home late.

He clearly saw his message had delivered, and she had read It, but like the other messages he had sent her, she didn't reply. She left him on read again.

Is she really going to give me the silent treatment even during text? Is she that mad? It's been two weeks and she's been treating me like I'm invisible.

"I had my suspicion earlier, but I would definitely blame It on her If It was my mum that got missing instead. Her main target is my mum so I highly doubt she has anything to do with this... " Steven suddenly noticed his downcast expression as he stared at his phone.

"I can drop you off at the nearest bus stop and pay a cab to take you home If you're worried about Natasha."

Noah just sighed and pocketed his phone, brushing his fading blonde hair from his head which was in great contrast to his emerald green eyes that seemed to suck your soul out If he stared deep into yours. He was out of this world gorgeous that so many modelling companies offered him a lot of money and mouth salivating contracts to join them, but he refused.

Unlike his sister who chided him for being stupid and refusing million dollar opportunities, he wasn't the type who wanted fame. He loved being a doctor and saving lives- It was his passion and he was going to follow It till the very end.

His sister would have readily agreed to sign a contract of course since they both looked identical, contracts came flying into her mail almost everyday, but their parents who were abroad had made It clear that she could do anything she wanted with her life once she was done with school.

Natasha was drop dead beautiful- the type of beauty which would make men fall on their knees for her and beg to even date her for a day, but alas, she only had her eyes set on someone.

Amongst the rich, billion dollar networth models, celebrities and politician's sons who came to court her, she wanted Steven.

From the first day she set her eyes in him, she had It engraved in her mind and heart that she was going to spend the rest of her life with this man.

However, Steven had made It clear to her countless times that he was not interested, and she felt Noah wasn't helping.

With that, she decided not to talk to Noah until he got her even one date night with Steven- then she was confident she would be able to prove herself to him.

It's been two weeks now and she had kept true to her words, not realizing the agony Noah was going through from being torn between living with his sister like a stranger for the rest of his life or risking his head by bringing up his sister even though he knew Steven had alot on his plate at the moment.

He was 22- way older than Steven, but sometimes, he forgot that because aside an arrogant and narcissistic attitude he portrayed, he had serious anger issues. He had seen Steven train, and he threw a mean punch to the face. It would kill someone like him in an instant.

"No It's okay. It's not like It would make a difference anyway."

Steven's brows furrowed into a frown.

"What are you talking about?"

Noah felt reluctant to say It, but he just had to.

"You promise you won't kill me?"

On hearing his words, Steven knew he was definitely going to say something nerve racking or annoying.

"I don't make promises."

A vein appeared at the side of Noah's head as he regretted ever bringing up the topic because now he couldn't drop It. That would even make Steven mad.

"Fine. But kill me after hearing what I have to say."

When Steven didn't say anything, he knew It was a silent beckon to continue.

"Natasha hasn't been talking to me for the past two weeks because she thinks I'm the reason you don't want to agree to go on a date with her so she wants me to arrange a date between you and her or she'll never talk to me ever again." He said It all in one breath and almost felt his soul leave him to seek refuge when Steven's grip on the wheel tightened.
