The underworld.
Adrik's Palace.
~~
He's been watching her.
For a very long time, a month? No. Six months to be exact, and yet he still couldn't look beyond the fact that as much as they shared the same blood, and looked so much like each other, they weren't twins and neither would she be his beloved.
Narika can't be Polina, the similarities and facial look was there, but watching her daily, Adrik could confirm that she was not anything like her.
Polina was everything to him, the life he had lived while he was in the human world had only meaning, because of her.
Without her, there's no Adrik Ivanov. Regardless of the feud between each family, Adrik was willing to drop everything for her. He was willing to run away with her.
Well maybe if she had listened to him, without being so scared of what might be her life if her father finds out about them, she was scared.
That has been the turning about everything, She couldn't leave because of her fucking family! The family that caused her nothing, but grief, and sorrow with each day that passed.
Especially her dad, Alex Singh who had been the major catalyst of her problems. He's the devil, which every mother out there would warn their daughter not to mess with.
But his beloved future had been condemned, the moment she turned out to be his only daughter. Life had been so unfair to her, and there's nothing that she could do to change that.
Not even abandon him, and everything that had to do with that household, just like her older brother had done.
The comfortable life that should have been hers, has so forcibly been taken by her niece, Narika, and it's all thanks to her dad.
But yet, that didn't seem to calm his raging heart down. He didn't care that she had nothing to do with Polina's death, nor did her father or mother have a hand too.
He wanted all to suffer, and that's what he had intended. Until these moments he didn't know what's wrong with him, after his first conversation with her.
Narika was something else, her innocence drew her to him. Like a moth to a flame, he didn't want to be interested in her problems, aside from the fact that he only wanted one thing from her.
To be his bride.
That's the only crime that she would pay for being related to Polina, since there's no other way he can be compensated for what her grandfather had done to him, he could bet that he wouldn't be worried if he takes another child of his.
But unfortunately, he's not so sure that he knew he had a grandchild. Judging from the few things, he had gotten to know about Nelson's escape, who goes by the name Mario. An undercover name to stay away from his father.
Adrik couldn't wait for the real drama to unfold, when the cruel man would find out what his plans are for them. He would regret the day he first tampered with his life, and that of Polina's.
That's the deal, revenge and nothing else but that, against every single one of them until the very last of their bloodline, is swept off the face of earth.
But the big question that left Adrik still confused, was the fact that he hasn't met Polina here.
Waking up to realize that he was dead, and had not crossed over. With an overzealous mother, who had been offering him expensive gifts he was able to live a comfortable life here.
He didn't actually know the reasons why he didn't cross over, and why the gatekeeper of the underworld couldn't allow him to do that either.
But whosoever such an opportunity is given, would have to make a better use of that, irrespective of the questions that he hasn't gotten any answer to.
Where exactly is Polina?
He could still vividly remember the first time he had woken up, he searched everywhere for her and had to involve the personnel working under him to help him do that.
Adrian went to extreme means to negotiate with the overlord, to search for Polina's soul across the bay that was restricted from him.
But there was nothing. Absolutely nothing about Polina gracing her presence here. It was like she was swept off the face of earth, and the world at large.
But the search hasn't stopped, he had spent five years and more with the hope that he would find her.
Maybe him being not able to cross over had to do with the fact that she's missing, and not here with the other ghost's.
He knows nothing yet, but he's willing to find Polina by all means. If she was here with him, he wouldn't have any need for her niece.
But the revenge still lives on, everyone involved with her death would suffer miserably and come find him here, where their soul would perish in the darkest pit of the abyss while he watches in total elevation, as the king of ghosts who's indestructible.
With a queen by his side, everything would fall in place. He wouldn't be lonely, and Narika would birth his son. The Prince of the ghost's. An opportunity which Polina didn't stand a chance to, because she's nowhere to be found
But soon my love, I will find you.
He breathed, before coming out of his thoughts to find out he had a visitor all long who was looking at him.
A friendly visitation by Tagon, the only friend he had that made his stay here worthwhile.
"I'm jealous," the young Man said, walking past him while admiring his palace." You have a mother who spoils you to the wits, a palace and soon a bride on the way" he added, before taking to face Adrik. " A privilege not every ghost out here has"
"There's nothing to be jealous about Tagon, everything i have is yours." Adrik patted his shoulder with a smile, but he frowned his face before moving to take a drink from the table.
"Does that mean we will share her?" Tagon asked, which made Adrik's countenance to mask into confusion until he realized what he said.
Tagon bursted out laughing, before patting his shoulder."Relax, I'm just joking man, although I'm jealous. She's really pretty and i can't wait to meet her"
He complimented Narika, which didn't settle well with Adrik over another man complimenting her. She's not beautiful!
Tagon hasn't seen Polina, yeah.. they look the same, but Polina is perfection while Narika is nothing, but another version of her that he isn't meant to admire but punish for looking like her.
It was a constant reminder watching her, and realizing that she's not his beloved, but maybe this was heaven's way of laughing at him for his loss.
Watching her was like looking at his girl, but she's something he can never have until now. He wants her for his revenge, and there's nothing anyone can do to stop him from claiming another sister for himself.
"Any news on Polina yet?" Adrik purposely avoided the conversation about Narika.
"I'm sorry bro, but it's nothing but a tight end. Maybe you will have to do more in convincing the overlord to let you in"
"Once in, there's no going back. you know that too, and i can't go in which you know of," Adrik bitterly said, turning abruptly and punched the wall in anger.
"Calm down Adrik, all hope is not lost yet…"
"I will make them pay, it's all their fault." He raged, with a heaving heart and eyes so red in anger at the Singh's household.
"I'm so sorry for your loss," Tagon apologized about Polina, before taking the wine and disappeared from his view leaving him to wander in pain, anger and everything that one could imagine.
He's hurt.
He's been hurting for years, but that will all be fixed soon. For Polina's sake, and wherever she was, he will make them pay!
Every single one of them!
