Grace and Nathaniel walked in silence, the sound of their footsteps echoing through the empty park. The fireworks display had just ended, and the crowd was slowly dispersing. Grace couldn't help but feel a twinge of disappointment – the display had been beautiful, but the night had not gone as planned.
She stole a glance at Nathaniel, who was walking with his head down, his hands shoved deep into his pockets. She couldn't help but wonder what he was thinking, and if he was regretting confessing his feelings to her earlier that evening.
"Thank you for taking me to see the fireworks," Grace said suddenly, breaking the silence between them; just another something to ease up the building tension. "It was beautiful."
Nathaniel smiled again, but this time it seemed more hesitant than before.
"I just wanted you to have a good time," he said softly.
