"Why? Why is this happening?" Blain's expression was ominously dark.
Before him was a very large table and on the table was a large bowl with filled to the brim with bones.
Blain had just had a delicious meal, but why was he so angry? This was the flesh of the level-3 Fiendish Vile wolf that he had 'traded' for with Lucifer.
He had traded the beast for the increase in evolution progress and just as expected, He had gained 19% evolution progress from the meat, although it wasn't enough for him to evolve to level-3, it still increased his evolution progress which was a win. Therefore one would wonder why Blain was so mad?
A few years ago, during an excavation job in a ruin, he had a chance encounter and got his hand on a purple Worm. This Worm is different from the red Worm traders use to measure the true level of meat.
The Purple-worm was a variant that could sense if a meat contains a catalyst or not.
Blain had tested this meat and was quite shocked when he saw the reaction from the Bio-tool. It actually sensed the presence of a mutagenic substance (catalyst) within the flesh of the Vile Wolf and it was a catalyst from a level-3 substance at that. This type of luck couldn't be described with words as the chances of finding a catalyst of that grade was nearly impossible unless it's been created in a lab.
At first, he thought the Purple Worm might have been mistaken since it wasn't 100 percent accurate but after testing multiple flesh and seeing the worm's reaction, he knew there wasn't any mistake.
Excited, Blain had eaten the flesh of the vile wolf overnight. Just now, he had just consumed the last piece but there wasn't a single catalyst to be found!
Recalling the piece of flesh he had sent to Lucifer, his face instantly darkened.
"Lu! ci! fer!" He growled with gritted teeth as his face turned cold.

The morning sun had completely arisen, cascading its blazing rays at the earth in a beautiful haze. Sadly, there weren't any bird chirping as they had all being killed or chased away.
In this era, even a bird as small as a pigeon had turned into a terrifying monster that fed on human brains.
Within a small hall called the Task Hall, Pruze spoke quietly with the task master before withdrawing with a roll of paper in hand.
A group of recruits stood before him and the twenty-five year old instructor passed the paper to them. "Here is the detail of your mission and within the scroll is a rudimentary map that will guide you to your destination."
The four recruit's expressions were grave. This mission would decide if they would live or die. But judging by the fact that Michael was from that Bruce family, they won't let the son of a Minister to perish.
This was what Violet and Oliver thought, and they were right in their train of thought. While the world had been dounced by the apocalypse, there were various cities functioning. Of course the apocalypse couldn't stop the advancement of man.
No one knows why Michael was here since he could be remain safe, within the huge walls of the city. It might be for experience or he was expelled but either way, the base would never allow him to die to prevent the Wrath of a transcendant.
"What about weapons? Or are we just going to head out without any means of protection?" The blonde haired Oliver suddenly asked.
The instructor sneered. "There are no weapons for deserters." Blain had informed him of the situation and as one of Blain's men, he was tasked with given them the mission. What anyone hates most in the base is a deserter so why would he increase their chances of surviver?
Both Violet's face and Oliver's face turned pale immediately. Lucifer didn't say a word but he was also a bit concerned. Having a sniper could be an actual lifesaver if one was lucky enough to hit the target.
Michael's brows furrowed. He finally raised his head up and took a glance at the instructor. "Since the base is giving us the mission, we are allowed to take a basic sniper and three bullets, right?"
Pruze's eyes narrowed. "Fine. Follow me!"
Violet glanced at Michael with a sense of gratitude but the latter didn't even spare her a glance.
Two streets and three corners later, the five people stopped at the armoury. After giving their badges out as identification and the mission scroll as evidence, they were able to enter.
The armoury was more of a blacksmith factory instead as a hot wave of air blast outwards at their faces.
In the old era when gun powder was still useful, bullets could be reproduced and bought easily but now that gun powder couldn't combust due to the some unknown reason, humans found another compound to use instead but it wasn't as abundant as gun powder, therefore bullets are slightly more expensive here.
The group eventually came before a huge racks filled with different varieties of firearms. Seeing this, Lucifer's eyes couldn't help but lit up.
He saw a strange looking double barreled Sniper-bolt rifle and as though that wasn't enough, he saw a large looking weapon with muzzle as large as his head. He couldn't help but think how big the bullet would be.
Lucifer wasn't familiar with firearms at all and had only seen some in the hands of some guards in the base.
"These are the snipers you are allowed to take." Pruze pointed at an old rack which had the same type of weapon hung on it.
Noticing Lucifer's gaze at the exotic weapons, Pruze laughed coldly. "Consuming more than your stomach can handle! You haven't learnt to walk, yet you want to fly?"
"Even if you are allowed to pick those weapons, the recoil from most of them would probably disintegrate your shoulder!"
"I still have things to do, so hurry and pick the Simple-Sniper and three bullets."
