Micah asked his direct subordinates for information about their target on their way over. He had chosen the group since it was the one closest to them, but it seemed like he had made a pretty good choice since the group was weaker than Artholomew's crew had been. So, even after all his pol was devoured when Baldas awakened his Negotiation Tactic Handbook, Micah didn't have anything to fear.
He also didn't have to make any revisions to the overwhelmingly simple plan. Micah, Artholomew, Rego, and Dennis would lead the charge toward the opponent's strongest fighters, and Micah's subordinates would sweep the rest behind them.
However, it was a little concerning that their target had so many things to use as weapons. Thankfully, it was only things like brooms and cabinet doors. But it would pose quite a threat against the mostly bare-handed fighters on Micah's side.
"Focus on stealing the weapons first before trying to kill them or loot their pol."
So, Micah ordered his followers with a strict voice before he and his closest subordinates led the charge. He wasn't sure, but it felt like he might have succeeded in using Persuasion when he said it. And based on how seriously the followers took his advice, it seemed like it had worked.
But Micah didn't have any time to spare to look at his followers. He was busy breaking through the enemy fighters. Thankfully, there weren't many, and they weren't used to fighting alongside each other. And the ones with longer weapons, like brooms, were better at accidentally whacking their comrades when they tried to swing their weapons and hit Micah or his subordinates.
It was the same with the cabinet doors. They were too large and unwieldy to be properly used as weapons in the hands of people who didn't know how to use them. And when used as shields, they blocked the visions of the ones who held them.
Micah's ordinary followers might not be able to make use of all the openings their enemies revealed. But Micah and his strongest three subordinates were more than capable enough of using the blindspots to go deeper. And when they were in the middle, they barely had to do anything to get the broom-wielders to hit their comrades instead.
As they broke through the ranks, Micah, Artholomew, Rego, and Dennis unleashed kicks and punches and attacked in whatever way they saw fit whenever they saw an opening.
Micah had lost his pol, so he wasn't any stronger than he was when he was alive. But the body he had in his youth was quite well-trained. And he had more than enough experience and technique to make up for his relatively lacking strength when compared to the others, especially Artholomew.
As he saw Artholomew unleash his full combat strength, Micah mentally patted himself on the shoulder since he had made a great decision when he surprised and tackled Artholomew before knocking him into deliriousness. He doubted he would have succeeded if not for that since Artholomew was unleashing kicks powerful enough to send heads flying.
Contrary to his scholarly appearance, Artholomew had a brutal way of utilizing his long legs as he fought. But Micah didn't mind. If anything, it was a good thing to have such a useful man as a subordinate. And all it took was a game of chess.
Micah looked at Rego and Dennis, struggling to keep up with him and Artholomew. It wasn't surprising, considering they were only just a bit stronger than mortal men. But both of them, especially Rego, fought with more than enough zeal to make up for it.
Rego had started using a violent method of grabbing the opponents' weapons and smashing them so hard they broke. The broken cabinet doors weren't very useful. But the sharp tips of broken broomsticks were excellent shivs, and they easily slid into the opponents' throats or chests.
Since there weren't many thugs in their targeted group, Micah and his subordinates plowed through most of them in a matter of minutes. Seeing the bodies of their enemies lying on the ground, ready for looting, the ordinary members of Micah's subordinates naturally felt greed sprout in their hearts.
Since Micah and the others were embroiled in bloody battle, they wouldn't notice if one or two bronze coins went into their pockets, right?
However, before anyone could make a rash decision, Rego called out to the ordinary members.
"Take now and miss out later, or behave and get your due rewards after we've taken over the city. Your choice."
Rego didn't threaten them. But they could tell that succumbing to momentary greed wouldn't be as good as being a part of the ruling class once Micah succeeded in taking over Vanitapolis.
So, instead of pocketing a few bronze coins, the ordinary members kept their eyes on each other and gathered the bronze coins in the center of them. No one would be able to take them without being noticed and reported to Micah. And they would also have a reason to work together as they cleared the last thugs who were futilely trying to resist.
Meanwhile, Micah, Artholomew, Rego, and Dennis stood face to face with the strongest three members of the group they had chosen to destroy and rob. Or they would have if not for the window in between them. After seeing Micah's and the others' prowess, they chose to hide inside the house where they could use the ownership rights to prevent Micah and the others from entering.
"Artholomew! Are you out of your mind? What the fuck do you think you're trying to pull by doing this?"
"He's the boss now. But in short, we're taking over the place, and we're starting with you. Wanna join?"
Artholomew answered the one who questioned his sanity and seemed to be the leader with a smile.
"Are you crazy? You know as well as anyone that the demon bastards will stop you before you even get halfway!"
"That's handled already."
Artholomew once again pointed to Micah.
"Is he gonna charm the demons, or what? You know that doesn't work! Now get out of here! I won't entertain your lunacy any longer!"
