Pride's presence spread out like a bed of flowers as Micah and Gunnel were enveloped by a feeling of being surrounded by nature. Micah and Gunnel couldn't move. They weren't merely feeling surrounded by nature.
It felt as if roots constricted around their limbs, bodies, and necks.
Gunnel's eyes widened sharply as he instantly realized he had been tricked, and it was his own damn fault. Now that he had turned off his ability, his mind was as quick and thorough as it usually was. And he vividly saw how Micah had played him like the fool he was.
But now wasn't the time for self-reproach. He had to break through the mental constraints Pride's fully unleashed presence put on everyone nearby.
The bright red tattoos began surfacing on his skin again, and Gunnel started being able to move.
Pride looked at him with calm eyes before looking at Micah.
