"You will be assigned to your designated teams. Your teams have already been decided by taking your abilities into account."
This was the moment of truth for Matt. As much as he liked team stuff—because he didn't like being alone, and he also didn't want to feel like an outcast in the Society—he was worried about the kind of the people he would have to team up with.
"White, you'll be taken to Null's team. There are four other members there, so you should be in good hands."
"I understand." Noah bowed slightly. On his face was a barely concealed smile.
It seemed White was satisfied with being on this 'Null's' team, whoever he was.
"Voidbringer and Pansy, you'll be on Rose's team." Lucy's declaration caused Matt's eyes to widen.
'Rose's team? With Violet?!'
"There are two other members there, so you should be in good hands."
"T-two members? You mean Bee and Shadow?" Matt's voice echoed in the vast hall.
"Yes. I see you're already acquainted with them, so you should find it much easier to adapt." Lucy nodded. The tone in her voice brooking no arguments.
Whether Matt was happy about it was none of her business. Although, she was quite curious. How exactly did he feel about it?
'Being with Violet, that's definitely a good thing.' The only issue was the other two.
Bee and Shadow!
'I honestly don't know.' And then, just as Matt was still thinking about them, he realized that Bee and Shadow were nothing compared to the most problematic person on the team. She was completely nuts.
'I'll be on the same team as Rose? Oh no…'
"W-well, I guess I'll have to manage." Matt murmured.
He wasn't sure how eccentric the other members of the Chuunibyou Society were, at least, he was sort of familiar with the people he was assigned to. It probably wouldn't be as terrible as he thought.
"This is so great, Matt! We're on the same team! And we're with Big Sis too!"
The moment he heard Violet's excited voice, he couldn't help but smile in response. His reservations felt inconsequential now. As long as she was there, he knew he would be fine.
'Well, I might as well give it a try.'
"I'm excited, Viole—"
"Ahem. I believe I already gave you your official names. And, last I remember, you are still in the Chuunibyou Society." Lucy narrowed her eyes at him as she spoke, causing Matt to correct himself sheepishly.
"Haha! I forgot, sorry." He laughed awkwardly. "W-well, I'm excited, Pansy!"
"Y-yeah, me too Voidbringer!"
Matt cringed inwardly as the awkward exchange took place. He didn't know why, but his name felt too long, and weird. Even Pansy sounded more natural.
'Now I know why the code names only have one word.' At this rate, even the Noir and Black that he was dreading were beginning to sound more appealing due to their simplicity.
"Ah, wait a sec. Can we shorten our names? At least, for casual conversations?" Matt—or rather, Voidbringer—asked his superior.
He even tried to make puppy dog eyes, but gave up halfway. Such childish tricks would make him look stupid before the composed and uptight Lucy.
"Sure. I do not see why not. What do you have in mind?" She asked.
As he heard this, Matt grinned widely. He had a name in mind. It wasn't perfect by any means, but it would suffice.
"Then, you can call me Void."

"Your team leaders will brief you on what else you need to know. I've already told you pretty much all the important things you need to know at the moment."
Matt and his fellow Chuunis had finally completed their orientation with Lucy. He was itching to ask the question 'what now?', but he decided not to speak.
"I understand that you might have questions that you'd like to ask, and while I do not have the time to answer them all—neither am I obligated to—I'll permit one question each from you all." She added.
Her face looked as stern as ever, but it was clear that Lucy was being kind to them. As the most important person in the Society, wasn't talking to her already a big honor?
"Let's start with you, Pansy. Any questions for me?" She stared at Violet's flustered face.
"N-no ma'am, no question from me."
Lucy wasn't exactly certain that Violet didn't actually have any questions. She suspected that she just didn't want to be so impudent as to speak out loud.
'Well, I'm not going to push any further.' Lucy thought resolutely.
She wasn't the type to ask 'are you sure?' or go for the 'you can ask me anything' option. In Fact if the other two could follow suit, she would appreciate it. Unfortunately, she highly doubted it—given their personalities.
"What about you, White?"
"Yes. I do. I want to ask when we can get to begin crossing Links and accessing Dungeons as official members. How soon will it be?" Noah responded, a determined expression on his face.
It was already quite clear what his priorities were.
"Looks like someone is excited. Well, I am not in charge of that per se. Your team will be assigned missions by the Society, so it could be anytime. Just remain on standby and await contact." Lucy's response was concise, however she did not go into specifics. She had maneuvered her way out of divulging the juicy details.
"Does that answer your question?"
For a second, Noah seemed quite discontented with the answer he was given, but he quickly composed himself. He didn't want to seem rude to the Society Director.
"Yes, director." He responded and bowed to her, causing Lucy to shake her head slightly.
'This kid…' She thought fondly. Then she cast her gaze onto the last of the newbies.
"Voidbringer. Your question?"
"Ah, yes. It's about how we'll be balancing our regular lives with our lives in the society" Matt stated.
He had been considering this since he chose the path of a Chuunibyou, but the question surfaced once more when Lucy was telling them the rules.
"How do we combine missions with our regular lives? I mean, I'm a sophomore in college. I need to study. Wouldn't you call this a conflict of interest?"
He was caught in a dilemma.
