I believed that it was going to rise, I watched keenly and knew something would happen, there was the light blue glow on the wand and it gave me hope, but my doubts kicked in when nothing happened.

The thread didn't move an inch from its original position and I began to question my powers, the expression of shock was obvious on my face,

"Why couldn't I do it?" I asked myself, it made no sense.

"Keep trying Sage, I sense you are losing faith," Athens tried to encourage me, but it was too late, I dropped the wand on the ground in disappointment.

"I couldn't," I uttered in a tone of disappointment and returned to the seat and buried my head in the pile of spell books on the table.

"Sage, listen, it's your first try, unless you were made with magic, it would always be hard on the first attempt, even though I had a hard time learning to control my powers so you should not beat yourself over it, follow me," she said, stretching out her hand towards me.
