"The nuns found me, and thank goodness they were kind enough to keep me. They said there was nothing on me except this pendant." She pulls out her necklace from inside her dress to reveal the fire-shaped pendant, and she flips it to the back, showing it to him.
"Erina Tochter Der Gottin," he reads it out in a hoarse whisper, and it felt like the wind carried his whispers, and blew them around, as if spreading and echoing his whispers to announce that he just said those words.
"Yeah... It's annoyingly long." she laughs. "So the nun who found me gave me her last name instead... Barret. So that's how I am Erina Barret."
"Erina... You have a lovely name." He says to her, and if a person could faint from being flustered, and flushed, she would have fainted since a while ago.
"T_Thank you." She manages to say, quickly slipping her hand out from under his own and turning away from him. The sun had quickly gone down, it was a beautiful sight to behold, especially from up there.
"So? What happened next?" Was she to be happy that someone other than Roxy and her family was interested in her story, or was she to be wary of this man? Even her previous boyfriends did not care about her story, and she never cared to tell them for fear of them leaving her... Not like it later worked out anyway.
But... 'can a boss really be a friend?'
"So, uhh... Well, I was raised there. There were lots of chances for a baby like I was to be adopted, but no one believed I was perfectly fine, because if I wasn't an albino, then I definitely had some kind of disease that the nuns were refusing to tell them... At least that's what most of them believed."
"Nonsense," he hissed.
"Well, not for them. It's not normal to see a child with silver-white hair, brows, and lashes. So no one wanted me. No one wanted a child who was probably a ticking time bomb, who could develop an unknown sickness anytime."
'I want you, I desperately want you' he wanted to say, but then he held back those words.
"At some point, I wasn't put up for adoption anymore. One because no one wanted me, two because the nuns adored me" she beams, with a wide smile. "and three, well, I was getting too old to be adopted... Oh, don't look at me like that sir, I wasn't all that sad." She quickly says as she saw the sympathetic look on his face.
"Thankfully, I met Roxy in middle school, and we became besties. She didn't run when I told her about my story. And her parents loved me as much as they loved her. I probably wouldn't have had a nice life if I didn't have them in it... They're like my real family. I don't have friends, all I have is Roxy and her parents."
"I could be your friend too..." He abruptly says, slipping his palm over hers again, causing her to pause and turn to look at him. He was nerve-wracking and at the same time comfortable, how could one person make you feel anxiety and peace altogether??
"Can a boss be a friend?" She turns her head to the other side instantly as she realized she said those words out this time, biting down on her lower lips, scolding herself in her head for being an idiot.
*huh,* she gasped as she felt his soft touch on the side of her face, and her skin burned where he touched. Turning her to look him in the eye, her grey meeting his malachite, a friendly dark and entrancing look on his face as he guided her face closer to his.
He wanted to give her the answer to her question while facing her... "ask me again, White, and I'll give you the answer." OH, Lords! He was practically in her face, and her heart was about to climb out of her chest, 'handsome men are lethal' she tried telling herself, but... It wasn't working.
"Can a boss be a friend?" She whispered like she was enchanted to say those words.
"He can... But when he likes you," his fingers, played on the edge of her lips, and it made her vision fuzzy, "he could be more..." He says, looking at her lips like he couldn't wait to take a bite.
"I like you... White" OH NO, she lost, she knew it, she never stood a chance against his charms.
"Sir," it was a pleading whisper, begging him not to pull her in any further. But she felt it, she knew it... From the minute he walked into the mall, to the second their eyes met, and even now as she willingly fluttered her lashes close in expectation, she knew it...
"Reuel... My name is Reuel... Call me sir if you don't want this."
She didn't want this... She definitely didn't want this... She was sure she didn't want this... But...
"No," She craved this.
And his lips covered hers, and his eyes too went shut, he held on to her face with one hand, and squeezed her palm in his other hand. And as the hotness of his mouth overwhelmed her, she opened up and his tongue slipped in, and caressed hers, drawing her entirety, tasting the taste and feeling the feel.
It wasn't just her, but he was also getting hooked, he knew it. He'd never let himself get carried away with the first kiss, but that evening on that rooftop, he was letting loose. Getting lost in the scent and taste of berries coming from her hair and tongue.
'She's sweet... Too sweet.'
And as he kissed her, and pulled her close, like a flash, or like the swift movement of a dragonfly, *Spark* they felt it, instantly breaking off the breathtaking kiss.
When they say you feel an electric spark every time you kiss someone who's fated for you... Did they mean that literally??
