Chapter 4 - Chap 4: Escape the Armored Vehicles

Afterwards time moved forwards quite quickly and before we knew it a few hours had passed. That's when we began to hear screams coming from the hallway. The atmosphere in the dorm turned tense as a few men dressed in white suits advanced, systematically visiting each dorm room. They managed to force their way past the Residence Hall Receptionist and security guards posted nearby tried to escort them off the premises but they refused to listen.

These men and women seemed to glow eerily in the dimly lit corridor, their movements methodical and precise. They were silent except for the soft rustle of their protective clothing. As they drew closer we waited and watched the scene play out before us. Their arrival marked the harsh reality that the chemical that the students were exposed to was from one of their abandoned facilities. Every knock sent a wave of dread down the hallway, as one by one, each dorm room was visited, and those students who were previously exposed to the chemical were escorted away forcefully.

The scene was uncannily surreal, eerily punctuated by the hushed whispers and stifled sobs that echoed through the tense silence. We had nothing to worry about and just kept quiet as we watched to see how they would react to being taken away. They approached each dorm room with a small list in their hand. One of those men approached Henry's dorm room with some questions.

"Excuse me, we have reason to believe that you and your classmates might have been exposed to a dangerous chemical. We need to take all of you in for immediate medical treatment," explained the Law Enforcement Officers as he forced his way into the dorm room.

That's when he grabbed Henry by the hand and escorted him out along with us. Before we even had a chance to react, multiple government agents burst through the back door, their stern faces filled with sharp contrast to the calculated calmness that had preceded their arrival. With authoritative voices and swift movements, they began separating individuals from each dorm room, citing that they were needing immediate medical attention. Their claims felt hollow, a thin veil masking an uncertainty that hung in the air. The forcefulness of their approach was distinctly at odds with the supposed benevolence of their mission.

As they escorted several people towards the medical vehicles, the tension in the room was palpable, casting a somber shadow over the events unfolding. Despite the mismatch between their words and actions, there was an undeniable sense of urgency in the air– a feeling that something much bigger was at stake. As we watched them lead several classrooms worth of students away into these medical vehicles, we could only hope for the best result from this strange and sudden intervention.

"Calm down everyone, we are on your side. We received word about this small incident involving vials from one of our abandoned facilities and rushed here to assist the local law enforcement. I need you and your fellow classmates to follow us outside immediately. We have a medical vehicle stationed just outside the building. Now hurry up and get into the vehicles!" explained the Law Enforcement Officers as he grabbed us and rushed us outside into the vehicle which bore the label G.B.I. on the side.

Yet the question remains who alerted these government officials to our exposure to the chemicals causing this unexpected action. We watched as the students tried to communicate with the government agents to get answers, but they remained tight-lipped and refused to offer any more information other than what they had already previously provided. As the crowd slowly dispersed, each person returned to their own dorm room with an unease that lingered in the air like a dark cloud.

It was clear that something strange and sinister had occurred that day, something we would never have expected. Whatever the truth of the matter was, it seemed unlikely that any of us would understand how important this event was for the heroes before us. For now, all we could do was wait patiently to see how the next scene would play out before us.

"Alright everyone, we have successfully gathered all three classrooms into the back of the armored vehicles and now it's time to commence the second phase of our plan. Project code named Alpha Children now on the way and returning to our new Headquarters in the CampBell District for further testing before sending them off to separate Detention Centers until we can properly determine the effect the chemicals had on each of the students in question and work towards reversing any unwanted powers received from the formula," said one of the Law Enforcement Officers as he whispered to the men driving the vehicle.

"Commander you now as well as I do that it would be impossible for us to remove their powers. Even knowing this you would still give them false hope? After we have processed them they will have to remain in our custody indefinitely," whispered one of the Law Enforcement Officers before closing the doors to the armored vehicles.

Shortly after that they gassed us with some sort of sleeping gas through the vent, and then they turned on some strange lights in the back. After that happened the Game Master voice appeared in front of us.

"Alright everyone that's enough watching and now it's time for you to do something. I only need you to escape and return to the front of the university that is the objective. You will need to face off against your fellow classmates from the other armored vehicle," said Game Master Sebastian.

At that moment the real battle had begun as we walked out of the armored vehicles.

"Alright everyone we need to make a run for the building before the students in the armored vehicle next to us wake up," said Isabellea.

We left the field in a hurry as we tried to escape our fellow students as they began to wake up from their nap.

"Ethan, do you have any abilities that might help us out," asked Catherine.

I paused for a moment before answering.

"I might, I have an ability called Aura Reading," I said as I studied the Student Clover of the Springfield House's aura.

"It appears the Student Clover of the Springfield House is a Guardian type, and she has a nature attribute. I can also see all of her abilities, but I don't understand what any of her abilities do," I said.

"Let's not worry about that, we need to stop her, before she can cause any more damage to the university," explained Isabella as we passed by the nurse's office.

We met Student Clover of the Springfield House in the hallway, and we prepared for a battle.

"It appears she has the ability to manipulate nature, and since we are inside that means that she can't hurt us with her plants," I said smiling.

Outside Catherine fought against a dragon made of plants.

"That must be one of the seedlings that Student Clover of the Springfield House summoned from her seeds," I said.

As I stepped forward, a palpable energy began to radiate from me, enveloping my form in a brilliant glow reminiscent of the sun's rays. The air around me seemed to vibrate with the sheer intensity of his power, a tangible manifestation of my Solar Aura. My eyes, now a blazing gold, met those of Student Clover from the Springfield House, who had halted in her tracks, visibly taken aback by the sudden transformation.

"Ethan... you're…" Catherine's words trailed off, her awe mirrored on Isabella's face and in my own wide-eyed stare.

I said nothing. I simply charged towards our foe, the golden aura around me pulsating like the heart of a fiery star. The hallway, previously a battlefield cast in shadows and danger, was now bathed in ethereal light, transforming the scene into something almost divine. The air seemed to crackle around me, the power of my aura distorting the space as I moved. My charge was like a comet streaking across the sky, blinding in its brilliance and deadly in its trajectory.

Once I defeated Student Clover of the Springfield House we headed outside, and together we took on the remaining Seedling Monsters.

As we vanquished our adversaries, we came upon a contingent of Seedling Monsters that assumed an uncanny resemblance to flora native to our world. Their bodies, an amalgamation of vines and leaves, held an eerie likeness to the thickets of ivy that draped the ancient stone walls of the ancient institute. Their limbs, robust and gnarled, bore a striking similarity to the sturdy branches of the colossal oak trees that towered over the campus, a living testament to the passage of time. The "faces" of these creatures were akin to blooming sunflowers, their seed-studded centers serving as a chillingly deceptive facade for their true monstrous nature. The way these creatures seamlessly merged was a sight both fascinating and unnerving.

The Seedling Monsters launched a barrage of attacks that were as bizarre as they were terrifying. They whipped their vine-like limbs towards us, each strike carrying a force that belied their slender, flexible appearance. Their sunflower faces recoiled, then launched a volley of seeds that whizzed through the air like bullets, embedding themselves in the surrounding stone with a sinister thud. Some of them even took root where they landed, sprouting grotesque facsimiles of the parent creature. Others utilized their robust, branch-like arms to reach out and strike, each blow thunderous in its might. It was a surreal, chaotic ballet of violence that tested the limits of our endurance and skill. But we stood our ground, meeting their onslaught with determination and courage.

"It seems even this isn't enough to defeat them," said Isabella as we battled against the Seedling Monsters raged on.

Isabella produced an energy-based gun. The gun hummed with a potent energy that bathed us in an ethereal light. With a determined glint in her eye, Isabella released a barrage of energy bullets that whizzed past us, clashing against the onslaught of the Seedling Monsters. Each impact resulted in a spectacular shower of sparks, holding the monsters at bay, as we forced our way past the monstrous blockade. Isabella's Skill Card provided us a protective barrier but also a path to traverse through the menacing wall of Seedlings. Despite the looming danger, an exhilarating sense of hope surged within us.

Amidst the chaos, Catherine revealed her own trick up her sleeve. Drawing on her Skill Card that echoed ominously through the battlefield, she summoned her signature Shadow Puppets. It emerged from a void of nothingness, these puppets, formed of the darkest shadows and shrouded in an aura of mystery, positioned themselves between us and the onslaught of the Seedling Monsters. They took the brunt of the attacks, their ephemeral forms flickering each time a seed bullet or vine-like limb struck them. Their mere existence provided a desperately needed respite, reducing the continual barrage and giving us the chance to regroup and strategize amidst the relentless battle. The manifestation of Catherine's Skill Card had significantly turned the tide of the battle in our favor.

"My Shadow Puppets will try to hold them off until we escape," said Catherine.

Despite our best efforts, it was evident that the sheer numbers of the Seedling Monsters were too overwhelming for us to achieve a decisive victory. However, as luck would have it, our objective was not to vanquish the monstrous horde, but simply to evade them. We pivoted our strategy towards escape, running with all the might our weary bodies could muster. The path ahead was fraught with danger, but it was also our only chance for survival. As we sprinted towards the safe zone, a spark of hope flickered within each of us, fueled by the belief that we could outpace the monstrous tide nipping at our heels.

"You did well Auroran Raiders, you successfully defeated the Student Clover of the Springfield House, her Seedling the White Rose Dragon, and you managed to reach the Safe Zone. Now then it's time for you to return to the real world so each of you can receive the Value Points that you have earned," announced the Game Master Sebastian.

When we returned to the real world we each received over a hundred Value Points to our surprise, and we got to keep the Game Cards that we played the Game Master for earlier.
