Chapter 92 - Path of Undeath

I was a worshipper of the God of The Dead in a modernish world that had very little magic energy which had been incorporated into life. Magic was nearly impossible for anyone to get into just the cost of becoming an apprentice was nearly 10 million dollars. I was just a simple worshipper who gave blood sacrifices to my God I operated mostly outside of the law for my job I was an assassin one who had mastered the art of False Magic who was to use tools to access magical powers.

-

I was renowned as a mage assassin by most for how fluidly I use the tools I never disputed the fact either and I became known as The Deathly Call. My signature move was to show that I had accomplished the kill was a sacrificial circle to the God of The Dead. My god would make the corpse twitch and move only for his most devoted followers like me. I smiled the God of the Dead otherwise know as Corkanta (Core-Kan-Ta) gave me everything I was tossed out at a young age for an old priest to see me about to die so he took me in due to the god telling him to do so.

-

The old Man taught me everything I knew how to survive off the land and be as silent as a dead man. He taught me how to walk and do every ritual showing my devotion to the God I could always feel his Prescence and I got a message from my God I was his last True Worshipper this angered me, so I begin to build my reputation as an assassin. Corkanta gave me a gift after my first human sacrifice I always had the thought process of not wasting anything.

-

My God gave me a ring of shadow melding allowing me to blend with the surroundings and sink into shadows if I so wished it came with the price of draining my lifeforce, but I did not care. I was only 20 years old but I already looked 70 due to all the equipment I had been using and I was seen as a savior of the weak due to the fact I was trying to gather faith for my God fortunately I was able to reignite the worship of Them.

-

I finally can rest within their realm were all can roam everyone and everything that worships him shall come to the Realm of The Dead where they can rest eternally with dreams of great joy. The Dead though shall rise again at his wish to bring others to safety like the Valkyrie of Valhalla. My eyes began to close when the old man who was now over 100 years old came up and sat beside me and held my hand with tears falling down his cheeks.

-

"My son, my son I wish you lived longer maybe it was my mistake to have you follow Corkanta I love him as a god, but he took you from this world too soon. Please my son don't leave me yet I haven't gotten to see you smile or have a kiss with a girl or play with friends. I'm sorry I took your childhood from you please my son don't leave PLEASE DON'T LEAVE NOT YET." His voice was trembling and tears were streaming over his old face. He than hugged me hard with a despairing face mumbling words of sorrow and fear.

-

I gave him a small smile saying as I reached and touched his face "I would not trade the world for this lovely life you gave you always had me striving towards the best always helping me improve and made me feel like I had accomplished everything on my own you fed my curiosity you allowed me to choose my own path. So, if you have to blame anyone for my early death blame me father, I only wish you didn't have to witness this. Oh, I guess I'm decaying now." The hand which was touching my father began to slowly turn to dust staining his cheek with white ash.

-

It was strangely not painful as my body slowly vanished I saw my father collapse onto my chest his screams of anguish could audibly be heard. He screamed out "I hate it I have been robbed of all my sons and daughters I have watched every single one die in worship of you spreading your FAITH why haven't you saved any of them I thought finally YOU would Care But no you still hate my family all 9 of them died the same way." My father took off his shirt in rage and on his decaying body their were 8 white handprints.

-

My lungs had already decayed away but tears still came to my eyes he has suffered so much for our god hasn't he I only wish he is blessed for us all. I began to pray for my father. I than could no longer see and a giant skeleton appeared in front of me cloaked in a bright colorful robe seeming to dull the eerie aura They had.

-

The God Spoke with a voice that seemed bland, normal, and like the wind barely within hearing " I love you all but your father can't see that unfortunately and sadly I can't change the blessings all of you children have given him for he should have died a 100 years ago but you all wished for him to be blessed. I usually do not give life but take it away and make a mimicry of it so my dear apostle would you like to join the World of Chaos for fun?"

-

I tried to speak but couldn't in this space but he still heard me think 'What is the World of Chaos?'

-

"The world of chaos is a world where the magic energy is so dense Gods could be born from the world and the dead rise on their own from lingering emotions or spirits. Even I do not have control over that world except for my worshippers so every time you die you shall come back here do not be afraid of death only be afraid of Fear."

-

I nodded and was instantly moved to the world of Chaos into the body of a skeleton.
