A few days had passed since I'd started staying with Yukki, and one thing became crystal clear: her cooking was out of this world! Seriously, even a top-tier, 12-star restaurant would be put to shame. Every bite of her food felt like pure joy, a kind of happiness I'd never experienced. Yukki, the girl who saved me when I was on the verge of mana exhaustion, turned out to be a culinary genius. Not only that, her timid nature, combined with her adorable cat ears and tail, gave her a charm that was downright irresistible. I couldn't help but want to pet her ears whenever I saw them twitch.
"Yukki! This tamagoyaki is amazing!" I said, practically bouncing as I took another bite.
"R-really?" Yukki asked, her cheeks turning a soft pink as she looked down shyly.
"Oh, definitely!" I grinned, savoring the deliciousness. "By the way, is there a town nearby?" I asked after finishing the tamagoyaki.
"Um… did you come here without knowing that?" Yukki tilted her head, looking puzzled.
"Ah, Yukki, I may have left out some details…" I straightened up a little, my tone growing serious.
"D-details?" Yukki's eyes widened, and her voice was barely a whisper, almost like she was a bit scared.
"To be honest, I'm not from this world. I'm a traveler—a wanderer through time and space, searching for a place where I can finally settle down, a world where peace and happiness exist," I explained, looking down at my now-empty plate.
"A traveler… who journeys through time and space?" Yukki's eyes were wide with surprise, clearly processing this new information.
"Yes," I nodded. "Due to a small… well, maybe a big mistake, I ended up using too much mana while shifting dimensions. That's how I accidentally ended up in your room," I added with a small chuckle, sipping on the green tea Yukki had made. It was so good it could rival any top-rated café's best blend.
"I'm… sorry to hear that," Yukki said, a look of genuine sympathy on her face.
"Oh, no need to apologize!" I replied, smiling. "I actually love it here. This place… it feels like exactly where I want to be. Plus, you saved my life. Without that mana potion, who knows what might have happened!"
"Hmm… but aren't you a bit young to be traveling through time and space?" Yukki asked, a mix of curiosity and concern on her face. "You look like you should be in high school!"
"It's the appearance, I know. Actually, I stopped aging at seventeen," I explained with a laugh. "So, I guess I'll look like this forever."
"Oh, that makes sense… And yes, there is a town nearby! Just head east, and you'll reach it," she added, nodding.
"Perfect! I'll probably need to register as an adventurer. Does the town have a guild?" I asked, feeling pretty excited to check it out.
"Yes, it does! And with your skills, you could even register as a magician!" Yukki said, her eyes lighting up.
"Actually… I think I'll go as 'no class' this time," I replied with a wink.
"'No class'? What's that?" Yukki asked, tilting her head again in adorable confusion.
"It means I'm a bit of both—a magic swordsman, technically," I explained, though it was hard to capture the whole essence of it.
"Ohh… but if you're going as a magic swordsman, you'll probably have to take a test," Yukki warned. "They'll check your skills, so it might involve casting spells or fighting an instructor. Are you up for it, Yuna?"
"Absolutely!" I replied confidently. After everything I'd faced, especially that battle with a god, I was sure I could handle it.
"Then let's get going!" Yukki jumped up, ready to lead the way.
"Hold on, I need my weapon." I reached for my magic bag, a small but trusty companion.
"Your… weapon?" Yukki looked curious.
I pulled out a wooden sword. Though it looked plain, it was infused with pure magic and nature's energy. Just holding it filled me with a comforting nostalgia.
"A… wooden sword?" Yukki raised an eyebrow.
"It's not just any wooden sword," I explained, giving it a quick swing. "It's magically enhanced. This baby is stronger than it looks."
"Oh… I've never seen anything like that before!" Yukki said, her eyes full of wonder.
"All right, let's head to the guild!" I said, heading out of the door with Yukki in tow.
"Yuna, wait up! You're too fast!" Yukki called out, trying to keep up.
"Ah, is this it, Yukki?... Yukki?" I turned to see her fainting in shock.
"Yukkiiii!" I rushed over, feeling instantly guilty. A few moments later, she came to, and—of course—gave me a long scolding.
When we finally arrived at the town's main gate, a friendly voice called out.
"Hey, Yukki! Welcome back," the voice greeted. It was a man—probably the gatekeeper.
"Hello, Alex," Yukki replied with a small wave.
"Oh? And who's this young lady?" Alex asked, his eyes moving to me.
"This is Yuna. She's staying with me for a while," Yukki explained.
"Good afternoon, sir. I'm Yuna," I said, bowing politely.
"Well then, welcome to Salvia Town, Yuna!" Alex chuckled, giving me a friendly pat on the back.
"Thank you!" I smiled, a bit taken aback by his warmth. After saying our goodbyes to Alex, we continued on to the guild.
As we approached the adventurer's guild, I couldn't help but be impressed.
"Wow… it's way bigger than I expected," I said, admiring the building's grandeur.
"Shall we go in, Yuna?" Yukki asked, extending her hand.
"Let's do this!" I nodded, and together, we stepped into the guild to begin our next adventure.
