Of course! I'm sure of it! Just because you don't recognise it doesn't mean it isn't my name!" he exclaimed defensively, crossing his arms over his chest.
The boy chuckled softly. "Sure. Whatever you say."
Chapter 2
The rain pounded against the window, creating a constant background noise that made conversation almost impossible. The sound of it filled their little room with a calming atmosphere, almost soothing, but it felt tense and uncomfortable to everyone inside. No one dared break the silence. None of them were comfortable talking about what had happened earlier.
Even Hercules looked troubled. The events of yesterday still replayed themselves in his mind every time he closed his eyes, causing him to shake uncontrollably. His heart was beating erratically in his chest, threatening to burst through his ribcage, and his whole body trembled as he clutched at the blanket around him.
After what seemed like forever, the pounding rain finally stopped. Hercules relaxed, releasing the breath he didn't realize he was holding. He wiped the sweat dripping from his forehead absentmindedly, wondering if his heart had actually stopped. After all, he hadn't been able to breathe for a few moments, but it appeared to be just his imagination running wild. Everything was alright, right? Everything was fine? That was the last thing he remembered happening before he passed out… right?
His gaze shifted over to Pegasus and he smiled weakly in relief. "Thank goodness that's over."
Pegasus stared at him with wide eyes. His lips parted slightly and he opened his mouth as if to say something, only to close it without saying anything. His expression changed as soon as he realized the same thing.
"Is everything okay?" Hercules inquired worriedly. He glanced from the blond to his friends and back again. They both nodded slightly, although it was more of a reflex than a response.
Hercules let out a sigh of relief. This could have gone much worse. He knew Pegasus had seen them, but he didn't say anything. He didn't want to cause any trouble for anyone involved, especially not his friend. At least that was the reason he chose to remain silent. However, deep down he knew that he should have done something. He should have done something sooner.
If only he had known….
As the minutes passed by and silence settled in, Hercules' attention drifted toward the window. He was expecting to see the bright sky or some signs of life outside. Instead he saw darkness. He furrowed his brows in confusion. "Where is it going?" he wondered out loud. "It couldn't be night already, could it? Is it the storm?"
Pegasus shrugged lightly, not paying too much attention to what was going on around him. He was focused on trying to remember his father's instructions, and he was struggling to concentrate as well. It wasn't easy since he was stuck in the past. All he could do was hope that they could get out as soon as possible. He needed to find a way out of the castle. Maybe he could distract the guard somehow while his friends escaped. He hoped that he could do something. He was tired of waiting. He needed to act, now!
Hugo glanced around the bedroom. He was getting impatient. He tried to calm himself down as he observed the room. It was small and cozy, with simple white walls. Although it was rather plain, there were many objects scattered across the room; several shelves full of books, an old television lying on the floor, a few pieces of furniture, and, strangely enough, a bed. The bed was covered in dust, and it looked almost untouched. "Do you know how long this room has been empty?" he suddenly questioned.
The other two boys glanced at him curiously, not knowing how to respond.
