Chapter 7 - The Limitations

Ignis POV

As the battle continued, Alpha Aardwolf started to grow, without having time to check the gains from previous rounds and without checking the upgraded title, I equipped it, and that changed everything. I didn't realise that the title could have this much influence in the initial stages.

Even though the battle was long and hard, it would have been much more difficult if I had not had the title, so even in the middle of a fight, I took a glance at this magical, shiny title.

[Your title, The First Multi-Killer, has been upgraded to The Syndicate Liquidator.]

[Note: only one title can be equipped at a time.]

_______________

Title: The Syndicate Liquidator

Level: 1-10

Effects:

1) Increases all attributes by three points.

2) Multi-kill grants you and your allies 30% extra experience points.

_______________

With this new title, I felt an increase in strength throughout my body. I had to accept the reality that this title meant more to me than I initially realised.

Previously, the skill [Stinger] boost was putting me ahead of everyone else, and now this will only add to that and can help my teammates too.

I applied the [Infusion] to the title as soon as I realised what a fantastic title it was, but I soon realised that I lacked enough experience points, even though it's a win-win title.

I heard a voice as I was enjoying seeing the title and dominating the Alpha.

And after hearing what she had to say, I felt strange, not because of what she said to me but because of the way she looked at me with those eyes.

I don't know why, but I felt a very strong feeling of similarity with those eyes.

Who is she?

Why did I experience this emotion? As I turned to face her again, these thoughts were racing through my head, and I was overcome by an undeniable sense of connection.

I was overwhelmed with a mixture of emotions, most prominently confusion and regret.

I told her to simply get out of my way while I tried to put my emotions on hold and take another look at her without remembering who she was.

I stopped thinking about it and focused on the fight.

I must admit that she either did nothing or distracted the Alpha in a very juvenile manner.

Yeah! Throwing rocks at the alpha was one of those distractions. I guess I do feel sorry for her.

I ignored her pitiful side and concentrated on the fight, which soon resulted in the alpha's demise. Despite my fatigue, I couldn't help but cheer as the alpha fell to the ground.

Narator's POV

Yeah, that was no cheer or anything; that was a pure lunatic laugh, and soon that laugh became hysterical because of the new notifications everyone in Tower 7 received.

[Tower 7 announcement: Player Ignis is the first player to reach level 2]

After the tower announcement, many players who understood their current situation were shocked.

Ignis, on the other hand, couldn't care less as he was swimming in the notification pool.

[You have killed the alpha aardwolf.]

[You have gained 80% more experience points after killing the aardwolf with the skill "Stinger" and due to the efficacy of your title, "The Syndicate Liquidator."]

[You gained a total of 18 experience points.]

[By slaying a monster two levels higher than you, you received an additional 10 experience points.]

[You have levelled up.]

[You can now break through normal human limitations and get past them.]

[Do you want to initiate the breakthrough?]

Ignis responded "no" without giving it a second's thought because he knew that after he levelled up, this would be one of the most crucial things to do, and he was currently in the middle of a forest, which is not a safe area to break through the limitation. He wanted to make sure he was in a safe place, away from any potential danger.

[Please begin breaking through as soon as possible.]

As to what this breakthrough is,

The tower allows everyone to start at level 1, which is the human limit, with all stats in 2, some in decimals, some in 1, but no one is ever greater than 3, so that is the human limit, and when you level up to 2, that is where you will be able to break through to the human limits and begin the journey of true strength.

Breaking free from the shackles of human limitations entails breaking free from the humanly limited body and beginning to modify your human body with mana.

The first breakthrough will fortify your body with mana and make your skin, muscles, and bones stronger.

After that, you can easily level up and use mana and mana-related skills. As you level up, your body will become stronger and more flexible, allowing you to use your mana even more effectively. With these modifications, you can expand your capabilities beyond what was thought possible for a human being.

This newfound strength and flexibility, combined with the abilities gained from using mana, can help a person excel in different classes. Not only can one enhance their physical abilities, but they can also improve their magical abilities as well.

When you reach level 2, the real journey of levelling up in the tower begins.

Every time you level up from 1 to 15, your stats will increase by 3 points, and you will receive 3 additional attribute points and 1 skill point.

But the difference between a good, excellent, and outstanding player hinges on how effectively you can breakthrough and earn more attribute points when you first make a breakthrough. This implies that individuals who succeed in overcoming the difficult process of breaking through will be granted additional points, enabling them to grow stronger and further develop their skills.

Understanding all these points, Ignis decided that he'd have to find a suitable place. As he was thinking about the potential of a good breakthrough, Ethyn approached him.

She approached him cautiously, either terrified by the corpse of Alpha or by Igni's lunatic laugh—that's all she knows.

Ignis raised his head as he became aware of Ethyn's presence, hoping that he would clarify his conflicted feelings for the girl, which were primarily sympathy and sadness.

She paused at a distance when she drew near. And among the first inquiries she made were, "Are you alright ?"

"You're not hurt, are you?"

As he listened to this, he immediately responded.

"No"

After an awkward silence, Ethyn introduced herself.

"Hello, my name is Ethyn Rivera."

drip

Ignis' eyes began to tear up as soon as she said her name, and large, heavy drops of tears began to fall from them.

His heart sank in his chest as memories of his past came flooding back to him. He felt a wave of regret as he recalled the events that led to this moment and blurted out loud,

"Oh, my god! "What are the chances...?"
