Chapter 12 - Precision Scream

Ethyn was overjoyed as she killed her first monster, and she soon received the notification she had been waiting for.

[You have gained your first kill, and as the level difference is four, you have gained a D rank skill for your weapon, "bow and arrow."]

[You have the D-rank skill Precision Cry.]

[Do you want to learn it? ]

When she received the notification, she quickly descended from the tree and ran towards Ignis, shouting happily, "Ignis, we did it! I got a D-rank skill."

Ignis was dissatisfied when he saw the loot dropped by the elder crocuta, which was a sword that neither he nor Ethyn used.

He turned around after hearing Ethyn and asked, though not quite as excited as her, while keeping the sword in his inventory, "Did you get a D-rank skill?"

"Yes!, Yes!, Yes! "And Ethyn answered excitedly.

"Ah! "Alright, now you should get more notifications then," Ignis remarked as he thought about the bonus skill points he had earned for having a skill ranked F+ because he was the first to do so. He also assumed that Ethyn would receive the same bonus points as she had the D-ranked skill which he thought she was the first one to get.

They waited as Ethyn nodded and checked her status panel, but she had not received any such notification. They waited for an entire half second, but she still did not receive any notification.

"Oh well, I guess other players are also fast." Ignis broke the silence, and both of them nodded their heads in understanding.

Even though she earned the D-rank skill quite early, it wasn't that other players who understood their situation hadn't started levelling up, and some might have gotten a lucky chance also.

Though Ethyn was not sad at all, she gently smiled and said, "It's alright."

Then she answered "yes" to the notification.

[You have learned the skill: Precision Cry.]

_______________

Skill: Precision Cry

Rank: D

Passive Effect: Improves accuracy by 30%.

Active Effect: The skill-affected arrow lets out a cry and causes 3% mental damage.

Mana Required: 50

Cooldown: 30 seconds

_______________

The moment she saw the skill, her smile, which was gentle, had a soft touch of information geek, and she told Ignis about the skill.

"By the way, do you know what mental damage is?" Ethyn asked Ignis, as she thought that Ingis might have any ideas.

Ignis, who first heard about the skill, had his hands itching for something he wanted to try on the skill that Ethyn had obtained, and as he heard her question, he replied vaguely as the information about mental skills was not yet available: "Well, I just have a guess; it might do what it says—some sort of mental damage; I..I don't know; let's check in on the next hunt. "

Without letting her think anything else, he put forward what he was thinking: "Ahem... Ah! This may appear impolite to you, but..."

'Oh, come on, Ignis, say it!' He reminded himself.

Ethyn kindly waited for Ignis to continue.

"Okay, so here's the deal: I have a way to improve your skill even further, but you'll have to demonstrate it for me on the interface panel."

"Ah! Wow!" Ethyn was surprised and happy.

"So it is that you have talent or skill?" She asked with glistening eyes and sounded very enthusiastic as if she had found a new source of research.

"Ah, well, it's my talent. Well, well, come on, show me, and let's try it out." Ignis changed the subject to avoid getting into the information again because she could easily talk for hours about it.

"Alrighty..." She sounded somewhat disappointed but opened her skill panel.

Ignis could see the skill [Precision Cry].

As he saw it, he used his talent [Infusion], the skill [Precision Cry] shone in a bright light, and Ignis noticed in his interface that he had lost 1000 experience points.

'Oh damn' Though Ignis lost this much experience, it didn't matter to him because the more powerful skills Ethyn will have, the better for them.

Soon the skill stopped shining and a new and better skill was presented.

[The skill Precision Cry has transformed into Precision Scream ]

The moment Ethyn saw this, she was stunned and didn't know how to react. She slowly looked towards a certain someone, and she saw a smug look on his face.

She could see what was written on that smug smile: I'm awesome.

She then took a deep breath, screamed in joy, and urged Ignis to quickly find another group of monsters so that she could check out her modified skill.

Ignis shook his head and inquired, "Have you received any notification that you are the first to acquire a skill higher than D?"

As Ignis spoke, Ethyn checked her interface, but there was no such notification, and she shook her head in disapproval.

'The fuck... that means someone already has a C ranked skill; crap, how fast are these guys, or is there someone with a talent higher than S rank?'

Ignis thought of some possibilities and then shook his head again, thinking, 'I shouldn't think about it right now because there are more pressing matters to attend to..'

"Okay, so listen up."

"We are going back to the shelter, and you should complete your first breakthrough."

As it would soon be completely dark, Ignis decided to return to the shelter and have some proper rest.

They returned to the shelter without encountering any monsters.

They prepared for Ethyn's breakthrough, as Ignis killed all the monsters, so all the system points went to Ignis, so he brought a bucket, a towel, water, and other things from the trading area that would help her clean herself up as impurities would be coming out of her body.

Ignis gave her advice and informed her of everything she needed to know.

"Try to complete all the phases; it will be painful, but bear with it because 45 attribute points are a huge gain."

Ethyn rolled up her shirt sleeve, showed her biceps, and said with determination, "Don't I look strong?"

"Don't worry, I'll complete it." The determination and desire for the power she would acquire—power that would increase her confidence—were evident in her eyes as she spoke.

As Ignis saw this, he smirked and left her alone on one side of the shelter.

Ignis opened his status panel while lying on a mat.

'Each level added three attributes to each attribute, three extra attribute points for each level up, and one skill point as well.' Ignis thought, understanding his current interface.

'I won't be using any skill points for now; I'll save them for a higher-level skill.'

Then he added three attribute points to each strength, agility, and stamina. He was overjoyed when he saw his current stats.

'It's only day one of the tower, and I've already made this much progress.' As he was looking through his interface, he could hear groans.

'Looks like I'll have a good long-range partner soon.' Thinking this, he checked his system point.

[System points: 152]

Seeing his system points, he let out a sigh: 'It's not even enough to buy a bronze item and skill'

Disappointed, he was about to close his interface, but as if he remembered something, he sat up straight. "Crap, how could I forget this?"

"It's time to apply [Infusion] to the title [The Syndicate Liquidator]."

As he tried to upgrade the title, he got a notification that disappointed him.

"Ahh... how many experience points does it need?"

"Can't I just use all of my experience points up until now?"

Though frustrated, Ignis deduced from this that the experience used in it will always be taken from the available experience points and will not deduct his level.
