"Man i'm exhausted." I flopped on the couch as i sighed.
Itachi comes after me placing all the shopping bags on the table.
I kinda feel bad for making him carry all the bags.
"You should stop wasting money recklessly." Itachi sits down beside me.
"It's not my money, it's my mom's money."
"And you have been spending it mindlessly."
"I have multiple credit cards rotting in my purse. This was the first time i made use of them. My mom used to be mad at me for not using those cards she gave me." I let out a chuckle.
"She devoted her whole life to make money so that i could spend them without thinking twice. But unfortunately i chose a different lifestyle."
"What a waste of fortune." I scoff.
"How come i never noticed your thoughtfulness before."
"Are you teasing me?" I playfully throw a pillow at him.
"I'm being honest here." He effortlessly catches the pillow.
It feels so nice to be able to live with Itachi peacefully in a world where our lives aren't at stake. Every morning i wake up seeing his face, eat delicious breakfast that he cooks for me, call him during the lunch hours to tell him that i miss him only to hear him chuckling on the other side, linger on him after a exhausting day at work as he strokes my hair until i fall asleep beside him.
The only thing that was bothering me was his health. I couldn't take him to a hospital because he doesn't have an identity. I could use forged id card but it hurts my pride as a civil servant. I thought of every possible thing i could do to get him treated. And finally something crossed my mind.
"Where is rubie?" I asked a nurse.
"She is in the operation room, helping out prof. Minamoto as his assistant." The nurse replied as she disinfects the scalpel.
I head to the operation room and find Rubie coming out. She proceeds to take off her mask and surgical gown as she take steps towards my direction.
"Naomi? What brings you here?"
"I wanted to see my dear friend because i missed her a lot." I wink at her.
"Gosh." she scoffs. "You are still so bad at lying my friend." She added.
" I'm being honest with you." I nag.
" I get it. Now tell me what do you need?"
"I was wondering if i could visit your mom."
" Why do you wanna visit my mom all of a sudden?" she raises her eyebrows.
"Rubie..you are my best friend. I didn't know who else to ask for this favor. Please help me out this once.Alright?" I plead.
"I'm listening." she said tying her hair.
"Your mom is a rheumatologist.And she has her own clinic.Right?"
"Yeah. What about that?"
"I need her to do a diagnosis on a unregistered patient. Do you think it would be possible?"
"Who's the unregistered patient?" she looks at me, her eyes full of curiosity.
"My boyfriend?" I replied whatever came to my mind first.
"You have a boyfriend?" She was astonished by what i said.
"Well..yeah.." I scratch the back of my head.
"Wow." "I never knew." She scoffed.
"I'm sorry Rubie. I was about to tell you."
She rolled her eyes as she asked me to follow her. She stopped near the vending machine taking out two sodas and passing the grape flavored one to me. We resume our conversations after taking few sips of the refreshment drinks.
"How serious is your boyfriend's disease that you need to see a rheumatologist?" She asked.
"We haven't ran a diagnosis yet." I look down in disappointment.
"But I suppose it's MPA." I mumbled.
"Are you being serious right now Naomi?"Rubie hits my shoulder lightly and frowned.
"He has MPA and he's an unregistered patient?!?" She raised her voice.
"There's a reason. But for now i can't tell you that. But trust me this once Rubie and help me out please." I begged.
"Okay..Okay..you don't have to beg. You sound really pathetic." She joked.
"I will call you after i talk to my mom about this." she added.
"Thank you so much Rubie." I was about to tear up.
"Don't mention it." she winked and walked away from there.
I felt a huge burden slip away from my shoulders. I sighed in relief since i knew i could rely on Rubie. I go back to the hospital canteen, humming a song on my way there. I felt my phone vibrating through my coat's fabric. I was a bit tensed when i saw Itachi's name popping up on my screen. He wouldn't call me unless there's something wrong.I pick up the phone in a hurry.
"Hello Itachi."
"Did you have lunch yet?" He asked.
"I was just heading to the canteen." I replied.
"Are you going to eat with your colleagues?" He inquired.
"Most likely yes. But to be honest i'm kinda sick of eating the food of the hospital canteen." I said still wondering why he's curious all on a sudden.
"Okay then come out, I'm waiting outside. Let's have lunch together."
"You're outside? For real?" My eyes widened.
"Yes. Now hurry up, I already found a good restaurant." He said as he hanged up.
"Hello? Hello?" I finally realized that he hunged up on me.
"Did he really ask me out for lunch right now?" My face started to hit up, butterflies dancing in my stomach. I unintentionally bit my lips, giggling as i ran towards the exit.
I notice him on the other side of the road, looking effortlessly handsome. I waited for the signal to turn green and then crossed the road. He gives me the softest smile as he leads me to the restaurant.
"Is today a special occasion?" I asked.
"No. Why?" He seemed sort of puzzled by my question.
"You wanted to take me out on lunch. That's not very like you." I chuckled.
"I just wanted to spend some time with you."
His straight forward answer turned my cheeks into shades of red. But i don't think he noticed.
"Did you miss me?" I teased him.
He nods in response and continues moving forward. I swear my heart was on the verge of bursting out. I couldn't help but giggle. It was kinda embarrassing as my face was all flustered.I was just hoping he wouldn't turn his head back and witness me being a red mess.
"We are here." He said as we finally reached the restaurant.
