"No!" snapped Bella. "Doctor, you said, Carter... my husband can't be saved?"
Kylie rushed over and immediately grabbed Bella, whose body suddenly went limp. Bella stood staggered looking at the doctor, unable to believe what she was hearing. "Bella!" Kylie, with an equally shocked face, tried to calm her friend down. "Bella, will you sit down, please?"
However, Bella remained standing staring at the doctor. While Nathan with great calmness asked what caused Carter's condition to be unsalvageable. "He was only shot once, wasn't he? Was the wound fatal?"
"Yes," the doctor replied. "The bullet perforated the right lung and lodged there, causing severe internal bleeding. We tried to operate as best we could, but the patient's condition was critical."
