Final semester at last. Charli was filled with mixed feelings as the school bus entered the school's parking lot. The holidays had proved almost unbearable being stuck at Aunt Lydia's home. Her cousins had tried their utmost to break her, but Charli would not give them the satisfaction. At school, she may be treated like the plague but at least it gave her the space she needed. With her free time at home, which was very little after completing all her chores, and since they no longer employed a maid, Charli made it her goal to study hard whenever she got the chance. She was determined to pass with flying colours so she could receive a scholarship. Her Aunt had made it very clear that she would not pay for her to go to college, informing her that she could become a waitress at one of the town's local diners, once she finished school.
Leaving this town behind once and for all, when she completed her schooling was top on her list of goals.
