Charli had been invited to stay over at the Mitchel's for the weekend. Mr. Mitchel made all the arrangements with her uncle, so Charli could not pull out of it, even if she had wanted to, which - she did. Living at Aunt Lydia's home was unbearable but being near Grant was torturous, a state which still confused her. He hadn't done anything to exhort these feelings, so why did she feel this way?
During her weekend stay, she was relieved that Grant had been extremely pleasant. He wasn't overbearing, at least one fear down. He had also not tried to kiss her again. Thank heavens. Nor had the topic of their kiss come up.
Late the Sunday afternoon when it was time for her to go home Grant insisted on driving her home. Red warning alerts sounded, which she couldn't blot out. Her nervous system went into hyperactive overload, she started sweating and her heartbeat started pulsating at an irrational pace.
