Bartonan Forest Valley, normally an uneventful town, was now in uproar at the latest scandal. Lydia Moore leaned over the gate to gossip with her neighbour, which was a daily occurrence in her life, but especially now after the exhilarating past week they had since Charli's disappearance.
"I know. I can't believe she physically attacked the poor guy and then still had the cheek to steal his car," Lydia blurted to Bessie, shaking her head in disgust.
"And Grant's such a nice young man. I always said your sister was unstable, and it seems her daughter's not fallen far from the tree. Didn't I tell you, Lydia, didn't I?" Bessie snorted, the rollers in her hair threatening to fall out as she shook her head and pointed a finger at Lydia.
"You did, my friend, you did. I should have listened to you," Lydia nodded.
"Your sister always thought she was too good for this town and hi-rolled right out of here when she met the first guy passing through town. Shocking!"
