Akilah
It has been two days since Akilah and Jack became official. Today was their first date. It turns out Jack lives down the street from her. The date was simple but oh so romantic. The plan was to take a walk through the local park then go to dinner ended by a movie in the cinema. Akilah was putting on make up when Matthew entered. "Are you going somewhere?" He asked surprised. Akilah forgot to tell Matthew about Jack. Matthew had a tendency to be really over- protective. She decided to keep it a secret.
"Yes, I- I'm going to an audition!" Akilah said thinking on her feet. Matthew acted suspicious but was only joking. He nodded his head flicked his blonde hair out of his face and left. It was a Saturday. That meant parents. They would never let her see Jack. Akilah looked out the window. The old willow would save her. With a final sprits of perfume she climbed out to meet her forbidden boyfriend. Gosh, Akilah got tingles calling him that.
At the park she could see the blossoms on the tree. They were in bloom, she picked one off and held it close. "I hope they don't stand up the flowers I got you." Came the voice Akilah had been dying to hear. She turned around. There he was. Dressed in casual clothes, smelling of roses.
"Hi, Jack." Akilah said. Jack held out the bouquet of violets. Akilah gladly accepted them.
"They match your eyes." Jack said, twisting the corner of his mouth into a smile. Akilah never took Jack for the romantic type but here he was, offering flowers and going on a sunset walk through cherry blossom trees.
They were walking down the long winding path that wrapped around the lake when they heard the cries. Then they heard a scream. Naturally Jack and Akilah ran to greet the noise that had dragged them from their bubble of happiness. "Jack- Jack there's a
man."
Jack
Jack and Akilah looked on in horror. There was a man, in what must have been his late fifties, and he'd collapsed. They heard a woman who was with the man cry out. "HE'S NOT BREATHING! OH GOD! HE'S NOT BREATHING!" She shouted holding the man. Without a second thought Akilah ran towards the man and started CPR. Three phone calls and one ambulance later, Akilah had officially saved the man's life. 'That girl is amazing.' He thought. Jack bent down hooked his arm under Akilahs and pulled her up. "Well," he sighed, "that was exhilarating."
"Yeah, not ideal for the first date." Akilah laughed. Jack couldn't believe how calm she was having just saved a life. She really was perfect. The walk was cut short and they decided to go straight to the cinema. Jack bought some popcorn and Akilah bought some ice cream. The film was an action-adventure. The two main characters ended up married in the last five seconds. On the way out Akilah and Jack were discussing the film.
"Of course. They take weeks to fall in love and another month to get together!" Akilah complained. Jack laughed. "It's true! Now in the cheap sequel is going to be their love life or their kid!" Akilah said "why can't they get together half way through? Then they wouldn't seem such a toxic couple for the fanbase to bicker about." Jack had to admit she was right.
Dinner was at a burger house. Not the most romantic but something affordable. Akilah ordered a cheeseburger and Jack order plain. They talked until closing. When the bill came Jack was expecting to pay but without even looking at the price Akilah swiped a card. "Don't worry about it." She said. It might have started on the wrong foot but Jack felt that the date was a win.
