Chapter 2 - Add some competition

Jack

After running out of the library he saw Akilah on her way down the path. How could he get her attention? That's when the spark hit him. "Hey!" He called out. Good, target waited.

"What's up?" She asked when he caught up. Jack was stunned by her appearance, there was no one this divine at his old school. Her slightly tinted cheeks complemented her long eyelashes and pigtails. Her features enhanced by what little makeup she wore. 'Damn!' he thought 'challenge accepted.'

"I was just wondering if you were ok? You know, after the library episode." Jack asked, twiddling his fingers. He tried to sound innocent hoping to match her personality. It was clear as day this girl was not into bad boys. This meant for three weeks he would have to "edit" his personality.

Akilah

"I'm fine now. Sorry I got ahead of myself and my hand was just there when I-"

"No worries! It's ok! I don't care I was just checking!" The mystery boy quickly saved. Akilah looked him up and down to get a better look. He had curly dark hair, green eyes- but not like Jamal's, fierce. Like a lion's. He had freckles polka-dotted across his nose and dispersing across under his eyes. He was quite attractive. Akilah felt like she'd seen him before; she just couldn't place where. "Where do you live?" He asked gesturing for her to follow. Akilah's face crumpled into a questioning look. Upon seeing this the boy chuckled. "Not a kidnapper; just want to drop you off."  She couldn't hold back Akilah laughed too and found her feet moving towards the smart mouth.

"It was more how I don't know your name and you're already offering rides home!" Akilah laughed walking with the stranger. He laughed and walked two steps in front of her.

"Jack Pointer. You can call me Jack. I have no criminal record, nor do I kidnap smart teenagers that go to my school." 'Jack' joked. 'He called me smart' Akilah thought. Even if she knew him from somewhere She decided to let it go. Besides Jack was a nice name. "Ok, now you - what's your name?"

"Akilah Dunes." She said.

Jack

Target was funny. He couldn't bother to remember her name but whatever it was, Jack was sure it meant 'smart' or 'light'. As the pair reached his motorcycle, target stopped. "We are not riding that, are we?" Target asked. Jack nodded and unclipped the helmet from the back. "I can't do that!" Target said starting to quiver. Seeing this he jumped from his seat and ran towards her. He put his arm around her.

"Are you cold?" Jack asked. Target nodded. In response he removed his own jacket and slipped it on. She hugged it to her chest, Jack felt a flip in his stomach and thought to himself 'the plan is working.' Unclipping his helmet and putting it back on the bike he offered to walk her home instead.

"N-no. I shouldn't. You have to get home." Target muttered shaking her head but Jack persisted. Eventually she agreed and they started to walk. On the way they passed some ice cream. Jack bought two cones and gave one to target. As they got to target's house Jack got her name again. 'Akilah - what a beautiful name.'

"Goodbye, Akilah, see you tomorrow." Jack said waving.

"Goodbye Jack! See you." Akilah muttered walking towards her house. Suddenly, she waved at someone up at her neighbours house. Once she was inside a boy climbed out into what Jack assumed to be her room. He gritted his teeth all the way home. Once he got back he punched his pillow.

"Great, just great! Competition."
