Two weeks later:
Finally it was time for me to find out my baby's gender, as I got ready I was so excited and I couldn't hide it. I never thought a day like this would ever happen, having kids was not on my agenda but I guess god had other plans.
I rocked my long white dress personally customized, and a stash Steph got me that quoted 'mother to be'
"Look at you looking so sexy." David said as he hugged me from behind, "you're so confident that it's going to be a boy aren't you?" I said as I looked at his blue and white outfit.
"Very confident." He smiled, "What if it's a girl?" I asked, "she's going to be my little princess, the love of my life." He replied.
"Wow, I thought I was the love of your life." I teased, "you won't be for long." He chuckled.
I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms with a smirk on my face, "you don't want to be late at your own gender reveal, let's get going." He said as he gently placed his hands on my shoulders and walked me out of the room.
We arrived at Felix's house, once we got to the backyard the place was filled with pink and blue Flowers, close friends and families already there and everything looked so great.
"There she is, the mother to be!" Steph announced as she came up to me and David, as we walked down the pathway everyone cheered and threw flowers in the air like we were a married couple.
"Now that the parents are here, LETS GET THIS PARTY STARTED!" Steph rejoiced.
We mingled with our guests, accepting congratulations and soaking in the joyous atmosphere. The backyard was beautifully decorated, with a large "Boy or Girl?" sign hanging over the main table, which was laden with a variety of treats and drinks. Pink and blue lanterns hung from the trees, swaying gently in the breeze, adding to the festive vibe.
After a while, Steph called everyone's attention. "Alright, everyone! It's time for the big reveal!" She gestured to a large, decorated box in the center of the yard. "Mary and David, come on over!"
David and I made our way to the box, my heart racing with anticipation. The box was covered in question marks, and a ribbon held the lid closed. The excitement in the air was palpable, and I could feel David's hand trembling slightly as he held mine.
"If you guys think it's a boy get on the blue side, if you think it's a girl get on the pink side." She said to the guests.
"On the count of three," Steph announced, "you two will open the box and everyone else will pop the confetti, we're going to find out if it's a boy or a girl! Are you ready?"
The crowd echoed with cheers and claps. "One, two, three!"
David and I pulled the ribbon together, and the lid flew open, releasing a flurry of blue balloons into the sky and the blue confetti falling down on us.
I gasped, overwhelmed with joy. "It's a boy!" I exclaimed, turning to David with tears in my eyes. He lifted me off the ground in a big hug, twirling me around as the crowd cheered and clapped.
"Our little prince," David whispered, his eyes shining with pride and happiness. "I knew it."
Steph rushed over, her face lit up with excitement.
"Congratulations, you two! I'm so happy for you!" She hugged us both tightly.
The celebration continued, with everyone congratulating us and sharing in our joy. The backyard was filled with laughter, the sound of popping champagne, and the clinking of glasses.
As we were talking to my parents, a man and woman walked up to us with big smiles on their faces, they definitely weren't any ordinary people.
"Oh, we forgot to introduce you." "This is Mrs and Mr Smith, David's parents." Mom introduced them. "It's finally nice to meet you Mary," Mrs. Smith said as she hugged me.
"We welcome you to our family." Mr. Smith added. "Thank you sir." I smiled.
"So how about the dinner date?" Dad asked, "how about we do it today, to celebrate our dare Mary." Mrs. Smith suggested as she flashed a smile at me. My and dad quickly agreed and I just stood their awkwardly smiling.
As they continued to talk David suddenly wanted to go and use the bathroom, how dare he leave me!

As I entered the house, I found Felix in the kitchen with Jay in his arms. "What are you doing in here? Aren't you supposed to be celebrating with your girl?" he asked.
I sighed, shaking my head. "I swear they always find a way to ruin my life!" I took a seat and chugged down the water in my cup.
"So you didn't invite them?" Felix asked.
"Do I look like I would invite them to a special day like this?" I snapped back.
Felix looked at me sympathetically. "Look, man, at the end of the day they are still your parents. You can't just chase them out or snap at them in front of Mary and everyone."
I rubbed my temples, trying to calm down. "I know, Felix. It's just... they always show up when they're least wanted. Today was supposed to be about Mary and me, about our baby. I didn't need their drama here."
Felix put Jay down in his playpen and came over to sit next to me. "Let tonight go and just enjoy the party. You're about to be a father, cheer up. Aren't you happy that you're getting what you've always wanted?"
I looked at him, the frustration slowly ebbing away. "I am happy, Felix. I'm thrilled about the baby. It's just... complicated with them."
"I get it," Felix said, patting my shoulder. "But don't let them ruin this for you. Mary needs you to be present and happy, especially now."
I nodded, taking a deep breath. "You're right. I won't let them get to me."
Felix smiled. "Good. Now, let's get back out there and enjoy the rest of the night. Your little boy is going to have a great life, and it starts with you being in a good place."

Mary's pov:
After the party was over David's parents suddenly took us, and my parents to a very fancy restaurant. Mom and dad were of course happy to meet David's parents, David on the other side did look very happy. His laughs and smiles were like they were forced, I honestly didn't know how to feel. Being pregnant was already hard enough for me but also trying to figure out why David never brought up his family to me or his attitude towards the whole situation was making things more complicated.
As we sat at the elegantly set table, I tried to push my worries aside and focus on the positive. The restaurant was beautiful, with soft lighting and a warm, inviting atmosphere. The conversation flowed easily between our parents, but I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off with David.
David's father, Mr. Smith, raised his glass in a toast. "To family and new beginnings," he said warmly. "We're thrilled to welcome Mary and her family into our lives."
"Thank you, Mr. Smith," my dad responded, clinking glasses with everyone. "We're very happy to be here and to celebrate this wonderful news."
I smiled politely, but my mind was elsewhere. David's forced cheerfulness was troubling me, and I couldn't help but wonder what was really going on.
After the first course was served, I leaned over to David and whispered, "Are you okay? You seem a bit off."
He gave me a tight-lipped smile. "I'm fine, Mary. Just a bit tired, that's all."
I didn't believe him, but I decided to let it go for now. I didn't want to cause a scene in front of our parents. Instead, I tried to focus on the conversation around me and enjoy the delicious food.
Mrs. Smith turned to me with a kind smile. "Mary, have you thought about names for the baby yet?"
I hesitated, glancing at David. "We have a few in mind, but we haven't decided on anything yet."
David's forced smile softened a bit. "We're still thinking it over. We want to find the perfect name for our little prince."
"That's wonderful," Mrs. Smith said, beaming. "I'm sure whatever name you choose will be perfect."
The rest of the dinner passed in a blur of polite conversation and laughter. David's parents were charming and friendly, but I couldn't shake the feeling of unease. As we left the restaurant and said our goodbyes, I felt a knot of worry tightening in my stomach.
When we finally got home, I turned to David as soon as we walked through the door. "What's wrong, after seeing your parents your demeanor changed?"
"They were uninvited guests, they weren't supposed to be there today and everything they did was unnecessary." He replied his voice so cold, the distress vivid on his face.
Not wanting to push anything further I just gave him a hug and gave him a kiss, "let's head to sleep, you must be tired." I said.
David sighed, his shoulders slumping as he returned my embrace. "Yeah, let's get some rest," he agreed, though his voice still carried a hint of tension.
We headed upstairs, and after getting ready for bed, we slipped under the covers. I could feel the weight of the day's events pressing down on both of us, but I decided to give David the space he needed. As I lay there, I couldn't help but replay the day's events in my mind, wondering what had really gone wrong.
