After walking for what felt like an eternity, Kyoma finally arrived at Green Ridge Town. He was taken aback by the sight before him, as he was suddenly transported to a medieval European era. Horses and carriages were the primary mode of transportation, and guards clad in chainmail armor patrolled the streets. The buildings were constructed out of wood and cobblestone, and makeshift stalls were scattered throughout the town, selling a variety of goods. The streets were bustling with people attempting to negotiate prices, adding to the chaos of the already crowded area.
Kyoma thought to himself, "Well, since I've been reincarnated into this world, might as well become an adventurer and make the most of it." Having spent a significant amount of time reading novels about reincarnation in his past life, Kyoma considered himself a bit of a veteran in the subject. He wasn't fazed by being reborn in a new world, as he had read enough stories to know what to expect. "First things first, I need to visit the adventurer's guild and obtain a class!" Kyoma was thrilled at the thought of embarking on a new adventure. He had read countless stories about reincarnated individuals who were granted super-overpowered abilities capable of splitting oceans in half and rending the sky. He couldn't help but wonder what abilities he would gain from his reincarnation.
As Kyoma made his way to the adventurer guild, his heart raced with anticipation. After stopping to ask for directions, he finally arrived at the impressive building, two stories tall and made of stone and glass. Battle signs marked the walls and doors, a clear sign of the adventurers' fierce nature. As he stepped inside, he felt the weight of countless stares upon him. Battle-hardened adventurers looked him up and down, sizing him up as if he were a defenceless rabbit. Nervously gulping, Kyoma timidly made his way to the reception counter, trying to ignore the intimidating glares of the battle-hardened adventurers around him.
"Hi, how can I help you today?" greeted Miya, the receptionist. She appeared to be a young woman in her early 20s with long wavy orange hair, and she was wearing the same knee-length dress as the other receptionist. The dress had a simple design with frills at the edges, and it complemented her youthful and friendly demeanor. Kyoma took notice of her appearance and estimated her age to be around his own. "I would like to know how to become an adventurer," Kyoma replied. "That's simple! You just need to register with the guild and ink your blood with the guild token, so we can record your unique mana signature into our database. Then, proceed upstairs to take a test to check for your class-related affinity and finally select your class!" Miya replied matter-of-factly, as if she had recited the same line countless times to new faces.
Handing Kyoma a bamboo scroll, Miya explained the registration process and handed him two guild tokens, one for him to keep and the other to verify his adventurer status with the guild. "Your rank will start at the lowest G rank," she continued, "but with hard work and dedication, you can rank up by completing quests related to your rank."
Kyoma nodded, feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. He signed the scroll and dripped a drop of blood onto both tokens, one of which he would keep as a memento. "Thank you," he said, "I'm ready to take the next step and discover my class and affinity."
"Very well," Miya replied with a smile. "Please proceed to level 2 for your affinity test and class selection. Good luck on your adventure, Kyoma!"
A few minutes passed in the otherwise lively adventurer guild when suddenly a loud scream pierced through the air from level 2. "AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH" Kyoma's heart sank as he saw the results of his class affinity test displayed on the crystal interface in front of him.
Class availability: (1) Necromancer.
After testing for his class-related affinity by resting his palm on a crystal ball the size of a basketball, the results showed that Kyoma only had an affinity to the trashiest of the trash class, the necromancer. This was a stark contrast to what Kyoma had seen from other adventurers who usually were given a myriad of choices ranging from swordsman to other rare classes such as berserker. However, Kyoma only had one choice. It was the rarely seen class of necromancer, which is even rarer than oracle. Usually, for one to become a necromancer, one had to first acquire a class on beast tamer and a subclass on enchanter, and finally one could become a necromancer. However, no sane person would ever choose to become a necromancer as it was reputed to be the weakest of the weak. It could even be said that becoming a necromancer from a beast tamer and enchanter was not a form of class advancement but a form of downgrading!
Kyoma couldn't believe it. Out of all the possible classes, he had only one affinity, and it was to the trashiest of the trash class, the necromancer. It was a class that was so rarely seen that most people didn't even know it existed.
Kyoma's mind raced with thoughts of what this meant for his future as an adventurer. Would he ever be able to complete quests and gain experience with such a weak class? Would he be able to survive in battle? Would anyone even want to form a party with a necromancer? He couldn't help but feel discouraged and disappointed.
