Chapter 8 - Terpsichorean Art

As the mutated hobgoblin boss charged into battle, Kyoma smirked and swiftly made preparations to handle its involvement. "Alright, time for plan B," Kyoma muttered as he transmitted a series of quick commands to his undead companions.

"Rabbit, attack hobgoblin."

"Melee goblin, regroup to me."

"Archer, slow hobgoblin."

Meanwhile, Kyoma ran towards the center of the room to regroup with his melee goblin, which was being chased by a horde of frenzied goblins. The windcutter rabbit leaped towards the hobgoblin and attacked it with its claw imbued with "windcutter." As soon as the rabbit's claw made contact with the hobgoblin's back, Kyoma cast his appraisal skill to inspect its stats.

"Appraise," Kyoma said, knowing that information was a precious weapon in this world of do or die that could determine the fate between victory and defeat.

Description: This is a mutated form of a hobgoblin. Wrapped by an unknown curse, the hobgoblin possessed tremendous strength. It specialised in heavy blunt weapons. It is rumoured that when it reaches critical health, it will lose all rationality and gain a bunch of power.

Kyoma was left flabbergasted upon seeing the hobgoblin's astounding stats. How was he supposed to confront such a monstrous adversary? His own strength was a mere 35, while his melee dark goblin's strength was just 65. And that health bar of 2000 hp, how was he going to deplete it? Even after a "windcutter" attack from the rabbit, it had only managed to take off 50 hp. To make matters worse, the hobgoblin was slowly but steadily regenerating its health. While the windcutter rabbit's strength was only 10, nowhere near the hobgoblin's mighty 95. It would take more than 40 hits from the rabbit, assuming it did not run out of mana, to bring down this hobgoblin. With regular attacks, it might not even be possible to defeat the hobgoblin due to its constant health regeneration of 1% every 5 seconds.

However, Kyoma could not afford to be paralyzed by the hobgoblin's stats. Being a dungeon boss, it was to be expected that it would be a formidable opponent, often requiring a party to take it down. On the bright side, Kyoma decided to leverage the hobgoblin's limited mobility. With an agility of just 20, any one of Kyoma's undead companions (except for the archer with a paltry agility of 14) could easily outrun the hobgoblin. Additionally, the curse from the dark arrow inflicted on the hobgoblin reduced its agility by 5, further slowing it down.

"Rabbit, harass hobgoblin, dodge and attack"

Kyoma instructed the windcutter rabbit to keep the hobgoblin occupied with its agile movements, attacking and dodging. Meanwhile, Kyoma, the melee dark goblin, and the dark goblin archer engaged in a direct confrontation with the 13 remaining goblins. Kyoma utilised his quick dagger strikes and evasive manoeuvres to minimise damage, while the melee dark goblin relied on brute force, using its reinforced mace to strike any approaching goblins. However, this strategy resulted in the dark goblin sustaining a significant amount of damage, which Kyoma healed using his necromancy magic. The enemy backline launched attacks, but Kyoma instructed the archer to shoot them down.

"Archer, shoot down the backlines"

In this prolonged battle, any missteps from either side could lead to defeat. If the windcutter rabbit failed to avoid the hobgoblin's powerful strikes, it would be incapacitated, leaving Kyoma vulnerable to the horde of goblins. If Kyoma and his companions didn't eliminate the regular goblins quickly enough, the windcutter rabbit's chances of staying unscathed would diminish over time. As the intense clash with the goblin army continued, Kyoma's health and mana were dwindling at an alarming rate. He was also becoming increasingly fatigued as he juggled multiple tasks, including monitoring the overall situation, attacking, dodging, and issuing commands.

"Rabbit, retreat"

"Archer, shoot at hobgoblin"

"Melee goblin, take 2 steps back"

"Rabbit, attack"

"Archer, shoot at regular goblins"

"Archer, shoot at backlines"

"Melee goblin, attack"

Kyoma, a reincarnated being lacking experience in close combat, was prone to making mistakes as he endured stabs and blows from regular goblins and shots from archers and mages. His health points (HP) and magic points (MP) dwindled rapidly from (425, 50) to (390, 40), then to (340, 30), (220, 20), (150, 10), and finally (40, 0) and (10, 0) respectively. Kyoma was on the brink of death when the next goblin's demise determined the battle's outcome.

<+25 experience points gained>

Kyoma's recent level-up not only refreshed his HP and MP, but also increased them slightly. The surge of strength and vitality that flowed through his worn-out body caused his movement speed to increase as he swiftly took down the remaining few goblins. The dark goblins seemed to be inspired by their master's adrenaline surge and attacked at a frenzied pace until the regular goblin army was finally wiped out. Currently, only the hobgoblin boss remained, which was busy swinging its heavy sledgehammer around as if trying to squash an annoying mosquito.

"Rabbit, melee goblin and archer, attack hobgoblin"

"Terpsichorean Art" Kyoma commanded his rabbit, melee goblin, and archer to attack the hobgoblin. Then he activated Terpsichorean Art, causing his undead minions to launch a synchronised attack. As Kyoma felt something hidden deep inside his body come alive, he started to dance in a wavy manner, displaying some impressive moves ... "wibbly wobbly woo" ...
