Mira and Lucy also sat down silently on another couch, as they both sniffed softly while their gazes were fixed on the hospital's bed.
"It's alright Grace... Please stop crying." The man sighed heavily while patting her back as he also watched his son who was laying on the bed.
The hospital word sank into silence, with only the women's slight sobs which had now turned into whimpers, sounding now and then, as everyone's gaze was fixed on the bed.
After some minutes, the woman slowly looked up at her husband with red eyes. "Henry, I want to see Lisa... Are they still here?" She murmured in a barely audible voice and watched as her husband slowly nodded.
"Yes, they're still here... Let's go." The man carefully helped her up with another sigh, as his thoughts wandered to the woman who was rushed here on the next day after the incident.
Zach also stood up and followed the couple out of the room, after glancing again at the bed.
They slowly walked through the hallway with the woman holding tightly to her husband's arms for support as they passed through the few doors in the VIPs area of the hospital, then finally stopped in front of one of the doors.
They could hear slight sobbing and murmuring coming from inside and Zach stepped forward, then carefully pushed the door open.
Walking inside the room, their gazes landed on the woman who was being hugged tightly by her husband on the bed and Zach sighed inside then slowly walked toward Jack who was sitting on the couch with bloodshot eyes and had on a distant look.
Sitting down beside him, he patted his shoulder with another sigh and Jack broke out of his trance then slowly glanced sideways at him.
"I am very sorry," Zach apologized softly while dropping his head. Maybe if they had informed them earlier, then all these wouldn't have happened, but he had never anticipated that his step-uncle was the one that had been after the girl's life.
He thought back to the confessions of one of the captured men who seemed to be the right-hand's man of the evil man and he sighed again.
"Hmmm." Jack slowly nodded absentmindedly and sighed inside, understanding that they were only trying to protect her. And being angry now is futile as everything is too late.
"Where's her sister?"
He heard the guy asked and he sighed heavily. "She had gone back to the province with her parents, " he replied softly as he thought back to the girl who had fallen sick with her mother. However, his father-in-law had intended to take them back to the province, until she recovers.
Zach slowly nodded and patted the guy's shoulder again. His attention turned to the women who were now facing each other on the bed as the older men had sat down on another couch and he sighed heavily as the sobbing inside the room increased.
"Grace..." Jack's mother sobbed and held the woman's hands. "Nothing happened to my Pearl right? She's alright, and my son was just joking... right?," She asked in a hoarse voice and watched as the woman slowly shook her head.
"I'm so sorry Lisa... I'm sorry." Tears streamed down her face as she watched the woman who had not come to terms with what happened yet. She watched as the woman stared at her in a daze, then slowly wrapped her in a hug while sobbing softly as she thought back to how traumatized the woman had become since the baby was lost, many years ago. "I'm so sorry," She repeated with a heavy sigh.
The room was once again filled with the women's cries and the older men glanced at each other with heavy sighs while they watched their wives sadly.
After some time, Zach finally stood up and he walked toward the women then carefully helped his stepmother down from the bed. "Let's go, Mum," he said softly and glanced at his father who had also stood up, and they slowly walked out of the room.
After the door was closed, Jack stood up from the couch and walked toward his mother who was now sobbing heavily. "It's okay Mum... Please stop crying," he mumbled softly then wrapped her in a hug.
Glancing at his father who was now deep in his thoughts he sighed heavily then brought out his phone after a while, as his mother had started mumbling incoherent words again.
The man stood up, seeing that his son wanted to make a call and he walked toward the bed then sat down again beside his wife.
Jack stood up and slowly walked out of the ward while dialing his assistant's number.
He closed the door behind him as the call was instantly answered from the other end, then ordered his assistant to book them flight tickets back to City H as his mother needs to continue with her therapies.
After putting back the phone in his pants pocket with another sigh, he glanced sideways and his gaze lingered on the door, not far from where he stood, then he suddenly noticed a figure, walking out of the elevator.
Rushing forward with an anxious expression, Ken stopped in front of the guy and glanced at the door where he could hear slight sobbing coming from. "How's Auntie?" He asked worriedly in a soft voice and watched as he slowly shook his head.
"How's your wife?" Jack asked, remembering the pregnant lady who was also rushed here yesterday. "I hope she's doing fine," he said with a sigh.
"She's getting better." Ken slowly nodded and sighed inside, remembering his wife who had almost lost their baby after hearing the shocking news. Luckily, his parents are around and taking care of her.
"Take it easy," he said softly with another sigh then patted the guy's shoulder and turned back toward the ward where his friend was admitted.
Jack also turned and walked back inside the ward after glancing again at the door which the guy had just entered with a heavy sigh.
