Extending her hand, just as she was about to pick it up, the door suddenly opened and her head snapped in that direction with a gasp, then she sighed in relief, seeing that it was her mother that had walked inside.
"Viv..." The woman walked forward and sat down beside her daughter on the bed then started wiping her tears carefully. "Why aren't you taking your drugs dear? You're making it difficult for the maids and your know your father__"
"How's grandpa." Vivian cut her off in a hoarse voice while retracting her hand from the bedside table.
Her mother sighed heavily and slowly shook her head, as her thoughts wandered to the old man who had suddenly fallen sick. "You should see him before you go to bed... okay?" She muttered softly and Vivian slowly nodded.
"Okay," She replied with a sigh and was about to get up from the bed then heard her mother continued, "Viv... It's not too late to go abroad... I'm sure after going there, you'll eventually forget him, and who knows if you'll find someone__"
"Who said I want to forget him?" Vivian cut her off with a sniff then chuckled sadly as her eyes flashed with so many emotions.
"Viv." The woman took her hand and sighed again. "Just go back okay? I'll also come and join you for a few days after your grandfather becomes better... Okay?"
"I said I won't go anywhere," Vivian replied slowly as her grip tightened on her pajamas shirt then she heard her mother sighed again.
She slowly pushed the woman's hands away, then stood up from the bed, before leaving the room.
After closing the door behind her, she sighed again then started walking toward the other side of the stairs, where her grandfather's room was located. And many thoughts ran through her head while she chuckled now and then with a grim expression.
She suddenly paused in her footsteps and her expression changed as a young maid slowly approached her with a tray of medicines in her hands.
"Y... Young Miss," The young maid stammered then sighed inside as Vivian walked past her without even giving her a glance.
After reaching her grandfather's room, Vivian was about to open the door then heard voices coming from inside and her hand paused on the doorknob while she bit her lips, wondering when her father had returned.
She silently listened to their conversation and after a while, a small frown settled on her forehead and she sighed inside while wondering why the man was disturbing the old man about distributing the shares.
She was still lost in her thoughts when the door suddenly opened and her eyes widened slightly while a gasp escaped her lips.
"F... Father"
Glancing at his daughter, the middle-aged man scoffed then walked past her in large strides. However, he suddenly paused in his footsteps as his expression changed slightly. "Vivian, come, follow me."
He turned back to the girl who had started walking inside the room, then walked forward and grabbed her hand then continued walking through the hallway and down the stairs.
Vivian gasped softly from the sudden action and quickly followed the man downstairs, toward the large door.
"Viv? Where are you off to?" Her mother suddenly called out as she hurried down the stairs while glancing at her husband who was still gripping tightly to the girl's hand.
The man's expression darkened and he turned back then glared at his wife "What has that got to do with you? Go back to your room!" He commanded coldly then continued pulling the girl out of the building, after pushing the wide door open.
Vivian glanced back at her mother with a sigh, then returned her attention to her father who is now pulling her toward the car.
She gasped again as he opened the passenger door then shoved her inside while he strode to the other side, then also entered the car and started driving out of the mansion.
"Father... W... Where are you taking us?" She asked carefully after some minutes then frowned slightly while watching the man's expression which was slowly turning calm.
"When we reach there, you'll know... There's a very important thing you need to do for me," Her father muttered with a chuckle and Vivian slowly nodded a reply while her frown deepened.
She glanced ahead at the street lights which were slowly becoming less as the car drove out of the city. And after several minutes, she started yawning as her eyelids became heavy. And she wondered for the umpteenth time, where they were going.
Glancing sideways at her father again, she blinked her eyes rapidly to prevent the sleep from overtaking her. However, after a few minutes passed by, she finally succumbed to the darkness.
Meanwhile, the man whose gaze was fixed ahead finally glanced sideways at his daughter who is now deeply asleep and he scoffed inside.
At least, she would still be of good use, after remembering what he had sent her to study abroad.
His thoughts drifted back to the call he had received from one of his men yesterday and a dark chuckle escaped his lips. It is time he gets everything over with. He had never expected that his useless men would be so lucky this time.
Many hours passed by and it was almost morning when he finally arrived in a small dilapidated town, with so many old buildings.
He continued driving to the far end of the town where many more abandoned buildings were located and randomly dispensed around the forest with just a few trees.
After reaching one of the tall buildings, the enormous metal gate slowly opened automatically and he drove inside then parked his car and glanced at the girl who was still sleeping deeply.
"Vivian!!!" he called out with a snap and the girl instantly jerked up with a gasp then rubbed her eyes hurriedly.
She watched as her father got out of the car and she quickly rushed out, then hurriedly followed behind him.
