Jack chuckled and slightly pinched her nose. "I guess you're not gonna have much time for me after school starts... I feel like keeping you here, or else you'll end up marrying your books instead of me," he muttered slowly with a pout and the girl laughed softly.
"Nah... I'll only marry my books for four years, but you, forever," Lily replied softly while nuzzling her head on his chest and the guy stroked her hair with a small laughed.
"Yeah, I'll make sure__"
"Argh! Stop it already!!!" Clara who had been generously receiving the pile of dog food couldn't take it anymore and she finally erupted. "Both of you... Get out," she commanded with a glare and the couple laughed softly and slowly walked out of the room while holding hands.
'Hmph.' She sighed exasperatedly and slumped down on the bed then glanced at the bedside table where she had kept the beautiful wristwatch Mira had given her last week.
Her mood instantly elevated while her eyes lit up and she pulled out the drawer then retrieved the item which she couldn't get enough of.
"It's so beautiful," she whispered with a chuckle and sighed happily. If she sold it, only God knows how much money she would get. 'Hehehe.'
"Clara... still admiring the wristwatch?." Mira chuckled after coming out of the bathroom and walked toward the closet. "My baby is very nice... right?"
"Yeah." Clara nodded with a brightened expression then dropped the wristwatch on the bedside table. "You said her name is Lucy right?... Give me your phone later so I'll talk to her."
"Yeah... right," Mira replied with a smile and then suddenly paused in her footsteps as she was about to walk back into the bathroom with her clothes. "Clara, don't tell me you don't also know her name." She frowned slightly and turned to her friend who was staring at her with an innocent expression.
Now that she thinks about it, her friend had been acting weird whenever she brings up the topic about either Zach or Lucy. and even Big brother, she had never borrowed her phone to call him or mentioned his name once.
She gasped and hurriedly sat down on the bed beside her friend. "Clara, did you have a fight with Big brother,? Is that why you have been evading my questions for the past few days?" She asked anxiously while hoping it was not about the marriage incident.
Clara's brows knitted and she sighed exasperatedly. "Mira, if you're trying to matchmake me with your newfound brother, just say it and stop beating around the bush," she said nonchalantly with a chuckle then stood up and walked toward the door where the servants were knocking.
Mira felt her breath hitched while watching her friend's carefree attitude as she took the tray of foods from the maid's hands with a small smile after muttering a thank you.
She stood up with a gasp and hurried toward the girl who had now started eating while sitting on the couch.
"Clara, did you hit your head somewhere before we got here? Is that why you had been acting weird, " She inquired worriedly while trying to detect any sign of defect in her friend's body.
"Huh?" Clara paused for some seconds before putting the food inside her mouth. She glanced sideways at her friend with a chuckle then muttered, "No, Mira... I'm perfectly fine." While wondering why her friend had asked her that question.
Mira's frown deepened still doubting the intuition she just had. "Clara... do you have a boyfriend?" She asked unhurriedly while carefully watching her friend's side profile who had resumed eating.
"Yeah." Clara nodded with a small smile as her expression turned gloomy while dropping down the spoon. "We were so much in love... very very much in love... The feelings I had, whenever I saw him, were indescribable... It was like, we were two pieces of a puzzle that fitted perfectly together... I felt like doing everything to make him happy... I love him, Mira... I love him so much. However__" she paused and slowly continued eating her food.
"However what? What happened Clara," Mira asked with a frown while also eating, not quite comprehending why she is suddenly gloomy.
"He left me, Mira... He left me... Even though it was a dream and I couldn't see his face, it hurts me so much to see him leaving," Clara replied with a deep sigh, still munching on her food slowly.
"What!?" Mira's eyes widened and she stood up with a jerk. "Dream? how is it a dream Clara?... and how did he leave you?" She asked hurriedly as her intuition was slowly becoming right.
No, this can't be happening.
Clara broke out of her fantasy and chuckled at her friend's expression. Why is she acting this Big? She had even thought that she would scold her about fantasizing about a non-existent person.
"Clara... Are you sure you didn't hit your head somewhere... Why are you acting weird? Don't you remember Big brother," Mira stammered as her grip loosened on the spoon while her heart thumped rapidly.
Clara also dropped her spoon and sighed exasperatedly. "No, you're acting weird Mira. Who are you talking about? and why have you been questioning me about so many strange things?"
Mira watched silently in a daze as her friend lashed out while her heart slowly sank with each second. "C..Clara, what happened to you?"
Clara sighed again and finally stood up then walked toward the bathroom, feeling agitated. What could possibly happen to her? And how many times does she have to tell her that she was fine? 'Hmph. ridiculous.'
Mira watched blankly as the bathroom door closed with a bang while her eyes brimmed with tears. 'What happened to you, Clara.' She felt her heart tightened and slowly looked down.
From her friend's angry expression, she had deduced that she wasn't joking. But how could she forget them in a short time? What had really happened?
