The guy quickly nodded and flailed out of the room with a hand on his chest.
She's really scary!!!
******
Jack slowly walked toward the hall with Freya still holding his arm.
He glanced sideways and found her gazing softly at him with a small smile and another sigh escaped his lips.
"Brother?" Freya called out softly after some minutes and she looked down with a sigh while halting in her footsteps.
Jack also paused in his footsteps as they neared the hall's entrance. " Yes?" He turned to face her with a small smile.
A notification suddenly sounded from his phone and Freya nodded, gesturing him to take a look at it while she slowly released his arm.
Jack retrieved the phone with a small frown, wondering who it could be. However, his eyes instantly widened as he looked into its contents then his head snapped toward a direction, far away from where they stood.
Freya's brows furrowed and she glanced at the phone in his hand.
She was about to ask what happened when Jack suddenly ran in that direction.
"What is wrong with him?" Her frown deepened.
**The Present**
The dinner hall was in great turmoil as screams erupted one after another.
"I... I just saw it now..."
"It's... a...a ghost right!!'
"Ahhhhhhh!!!!"
People knock over each other one after another as the light was suddenly switched on and offed again. But in between those two seconds, they noticed the figure again.
She was draped in a very long white nightgown with her long black hair dripping over the sides of her ghastly pale face.
And was that blood dripping down from the sides of her lips?
"Ahhhhhhh!!!"
"This place is hunted!!!"
"Run for your lives!!!"
More screams erupted in the hall as many plates of food and utensils scattered on the floor and everyone sprang up from their seats.
The light was fully back on and there was no trace of the ghost again.
However, the hall was now in a frenzy as everyone scurried out in all limbs while knocking over the tables and chairs.
Soon after, the place was empty and suddenly quiet and was only left with two people as even the servants had run for their lives.
The only traces of what happened a while ago was the foods that were scattered on the floor and the drinks that were splashed everywhere, including the tables and chairs which were knocked over one another.
Jack's father had on a terrified expression as he dazedly watched his wife who had lost consciousness on the floor.
"L... Lisa?" His hands trembled as he fearfully glanced at the stage where the ghost had just disappeared.
He quickly got back to his senses then scooped her in his arms and hurried out of the door not wanting to believe what he had just seen.
No, it can't be true.
** At The Other Side Of The Mansion **
Jack panted heavily as he sprinted toward the other side of the mansion. The place was quiet and there was no trace of any servant around, with the dim lights adding to its eeriness.
He stopped in front of the door while trying to catch his breath then quickly reached forward with his hand and turned the handle.
A frown settled on his face as the door couldn't budge.
He glanced around anxiously then luckily located the key tossed at a far corner and rushed forward then quickly picked it up.
Rushing back to the door, he inserted the key with trembling hands and rapidly swung it open then barged inside the room.
Lily sprung up from the chair with a gasp while her eyes darted to the door.
She was reading inside the room when a strange guy had suddenly barged in and told her that her sister was in danger and needed help.
After following him here and seeing no sign of her sister, she was about to turn back when he suddenly locked her inside.
But what is Jack doing here?
Her heart thumped rapidly and she took a step back as everything registered to her.
It was her sister's doing.
"Lily." Jack rushed toward the girl and anxiously examined her body from head to toe.
He had received the anonymous text that she had fallen sick__ the text had also said she wanted to see him here and he wondered how she knew this playroom.
Looking down at her frail body, Jack was very most convinced.
Even though she has a petite figure, he had always noticed that her health was not stable.
"Lily, are you alright? are you feeling pain anywhere... come, let's go, I'll take you to the hospital," He uttered hurriedly and instinctively held her hands.
Lily gazed into his worried eyes with a small frown and after some seconds tears slowly gathered in her eyes.
"Why are you doing this?" she asked in a whisper and slowly drew back her hands from his then took another step back.
Jack watched her in anguish and he hurriedly took a step forward. "Lily... stop being stubborn. let me take you to the hospital please."
"No." shaking her head slowly, Lily kept on walking back while staring intently at his expression.
Why can't you see it, Jack?
"Watch out!!!" Jack's eyes instantly widened as she was about to knock into a bicycle.
He quickly caught her hand then suddenly engulfed her in a hug.
Shocked from the sudden action, Lily gasped and glanced back at the small bicycle toy then her attention slowly returned to him and she repeated her question in a whisper.
"Jack, why are you__"
"Don't be like this... we have to take you to the hospital, " Jack muttered and tightened his hug around her.
By then Lily's tears had started falling and she tried to wriggle out of his embrace but his arms tightened around her once more.
Heaving a deep breath, she ceased struggling then stared into his eyes with resolution. "Jack... do you like me?" She sobbed and watched as his eyes widened slightly.
Jack returned to his senses and he stared at her in a daze.
Does he like her?
This question had been haunting him ever since he returned from the province.
His thoughts had frequently wandered to her in these past few days.
