As we arrived at the Inn, I turned to Andrew and instructed him, "Please do not intervene in the fight between me and the vampire, unless I am in danger of dying."
Andrew responded in his usual stoic voice, "I don't think that will be necessary. You are more than strong enough to take care of a lowly vampire." However, I knew that anything could happen in a fight.
As the moon illuminated the small town, the villagers rushed inside and pressed their faces against the windows to watch. I walked in the middle of the street, while Andrew and the Village head watched from a distance.
I noticed a small bat flying overhead and immediately thought, 'It's best for me to bring it down to earth,' especially considering the strange amount of mana I sensed around it.
I determined the speed of the bat to be around 20 meters per second. I estimated the distance between the bat and myself to be approximately 30 meters. I calculated the time it would take for the ice spear to reach the bat, I reached the number of 1.5 seconds
I took a step forward and raised my hand towards the bat. I channeled my mana into an ice spear, forming it in the palm of my hand. With a swift motion, I threw the spear at the calculated angle and watched as it soared towards the bat.
The bat quickly noticed the incoming ice spear and transformed into human form. Despite his quick reaction, the ice spear still managed to hit his shoulder as he fell to the ground.
'Not bad,'I thought to myself. I had been afraid that I might be rusty, but it seemed that I still had my skills.
As I walked towards the spot where the vampire landed, I could see him getting up and quickly removing the ice spear from his shoulder. His body healed the wound, and it seemed as if he hadn't been injured at all.
"Who are you, human!" the vampire shouted with arrogance in his voice.
"I am Lucas De Clare, and I have been asked to deal with you. So, if you want a quick death, surrender now," I offered a reasonable deal. However, I could tell that the vampire would refuse based on the scrunched look on his face.
The vampire rushed towards me with incredible speed and threw a punch with his right hand. I easily dodged to the left and punched him in the gut.
"Quite disappointing. I expected more," I remarked as I looked down at the gasping vampire.
He quickly composed himself and stepped back, growling, "Don't look down at me, human!" He rushed at me again and threw another punch. This time, I didn't dodge. I just looked at him with pity and disappointment. His punch connected, but it didn't harm me. Instead, it harmed him, and he clutched his hand as his broken bones healed before my eyes.
"What?" I stood above him while he looked up at me, his eyes filled with a mixture of arrogance and despair.
"Stand up" Upon my order, the vampire reluctantly stood up. But in a show of defiance, he quickly bared his fangs and lunged at my exposed neck.
"You're going for such a predictable attack. Do you even have any fighting experience?" I mocked him as he launched his attack. But before he could sink his fangs into my flesh, I managed to grab his upper jaw and pulled him to the ground.
His attacks were weak and predictable. But before I could ponder further, I yanked his upper and lower jaw apart with a swift motion. The sound of bones breaking and tearing flesh filled the air as the vampire let out a blood-curdling scream.
The villagers watched in horror through their windows, unable to look away from the gruesome scene unfolding in front of them. The vampire continued to grasp at my armor, but his attempts to fight back were feeble. I held him firmly as his screams echoed through the night, piercing through the silence.
His body began to heal itself quickly, but I wasn't going to give him the chance to recover fully. With a touch, I sent a wave of ice throughout his body, freezing him down to the bone. His screams were cut off abruptly as his body turned into a lifeless statue.
I stood up, wiping off the blood and dust from my armor. The villagers watched me in awe, some of them whispering prayers of gratitude for having been saved from the terror of the vampire.
Although his body quickly began the healing process, I didn't give him the chance to recover. I touched the vampire and froze him down to the bone, effectively killing him.
As I turned back, I saw Andrew and the village head approaching me. Andrew wore a bored expression, while the village head looked at me with awe and worship.
"Did you enjoy yourself, Master Lucas?" Andrew asked, but I could tell he already knew the answer.
"No, it was merely an exercise," I replied before turning to the village head.
"I have taken care of the problem, Village Head. Your villagers can now sleep in peace," I said, offering a kind smile.
"Oh, thank you, Master Lucas. I can't thank you enough," the village head repeatedly bowed and thanked me, but I quickly asked him to stop.
"There is no need to thank me. Instead, thank God, for he is the one who led me to cross paths with you," I said, showing him a kind smile. Unexpectedly, he began to tear up at my words.
Leaving the village head, we made our way back to the inn. The moon was high in the sky, casting a soft light over the town. I felt a sense of calm wash over me as we walked.
Once we reached the inn, I took a seat by the window, looking out at the night sky. I pulled out my little book and started jotting down today's events. The sound of the quill scratching against the paper was the only thing breaking the silence.
