Although waking up early in the morning was a common occurrence for me, waking up at 3 am was quite unusual. I had a specific reason for doing so: to see how many people would be watching me with my scanning ability. Over the next 5 hours, I noticed 6 people taking turns and watching me for an hour each. They weren't particularly strong, and they were probably rookies.
"If they were planning to kill me, they could at least send stronger people," I thought to myself. However, I wasn't complaining. While this was beneficial to me, It is unlikely that they knew anything of actual use about the chancellor. With a sigh, I grabbed my armor and swords and left my room, where Andrew was waiting for me. Giving him a nod, we left the inn on foot.
As we walked through the cobblestone streets, I could feel the stares of not only those 6 people but almost everyone. Consumed by my thoughts, I accidentally bumped into a little kid.
"I'm sorry, child." I quickly picked him up from the ground, patting his dusty clothes.
"It's okay, your Lordship," the kid said, staring at me in awe and nervousness. It seemed like he knew who I was. Perhaps the news of being Lady Calliope's disciple had spread around the kingdom.
"I hope I didn't hurt you," I said, giving him a warm smile. Giving him a gold coin I continued with Andrew towards the forest.
"Halt" Arriving in front of the entrance towards the forest a guard stopped us "Present your IDs"
"Here you go sir" Presenting our IDs I surveyed the area behind him the forest was full of exotic animals and plants and the trees were the biggest he has seen even bigger than the ones back on earth they seem to reach the heavens
"Anything interesting going on in the forest?" I asked him while he was checking our IDs
"Not much. There have been more animal sightings, but that's to be expected this time of year," he replied, handing our IDs back. "Stay safe."
Thanking him, Andrew and I headed into the forest. The wind had a rhythmic tone, and the flowers seemed to dance to their rhythm. After five minutes, we encountered our first animal: a Dire Ironclad Wolf.
It stood six feet tall, was four feet wide, and weighed around 300-500 pounds. While it was physically strong and had extremely hard claws, it was not very agile, so Andrew easily moved around it, eventually decapitating it. "Good work, Andrew." Unlike other novels, the animals in this world don't drop anything, but they are rather tasty.
After an hour, we ventured deep into the forest, and to my surprise, they hadn't made a move yet. I was getting bored, so I decided it was time.
"It makes me sad to see my audience cower in the shadows. So please, show yourselves," I said while looking at a plant. In an instant, three people came from behind, and three came out from the front. In the front, there was a woman and two men, while in the back, there were three men.
Andrew was yawning while I had a smile on my face. From their perspective, it seemed that we were taking them lightly. "Do you not know the situation you are in?" one of the men spoke out.
"I do know the situation I am in. I have known for a while now," I said, showing them a smile.
"Why are you smiling?" The woman noticed something was wrong. I could tell she was lightly sweating, and her heartbeat was slowly increasing.
"Andrew, why am I smiling?" I chuckled, but right after, I snapped my fingers, and in an instant, the three men behind us died. Owen, Jason, Fred, Malachai, and Preston came out of the forest.
"God damn it," the woman quickly made a run for it. Owen was about to follow, but I raised my hand. "I'll take care of her. All of you, help Andrew take care of those two. Make sure not to damage their bodies too badly."
I began running at fast speeds through the forest and eventually caught up to her. She started destroying the forest behind her, attempting to block me. Her attempts were futile, and in all honesty, made me laugh.
I climbed up a tree and threw two shards of ice at her two ACLs, instantly stopping her and quickly freezing her ACL.
"You fucker!" She looked around, but she couldn't see me. The dense forest covered every sight.
"You're going to tell me everything you know about the chancellor, every single detail." Coming out of the forest, she turned around and quickly launched a dagger, which I grabbed mid-air and threw at the ground.
"Go to hell, you fuc…" Before she could finish her sentence, I grabbed her hair and quickly pulled out one of her teeth. Blood filled her mouth, and a quick scream followed.
"AHHHHH," how pathetic. They sent this woman to kill me. What a joke.
"Shhhhh, be quiet… Here's what we're going to do. You will give me all the information you have about the chancellor, everything you know," I said, aiming the tip of my sword toward her throat. "If you don't, then maybe a tooth or maybe a nail or maybe an eye will be lost. Do you understand?"
Her head quickly dropped. It seemed like she was thinking, but I felt something change. Her whole vibe changed. I raised her face with my other hand and I saw two red eyes staring at me.
"What the…" Before I could even think, she spoke.
"Hello, Lucas. Unfortunately for you, you will not get any information from this woman." While the voice was that of the woman the tone and eyes were completely different
"Chancellor?" Does he have some sort of mind control power? Is that what the tattoo is for? My thoughts flooded with similar questions.
"I'm truly impressed, Lucas. You have exceeded every expectation I have set for you. I must say, you are truly an anomaly." Completely ignoring my question, the 'woman' began clapping, but I sensed something: her core was getting faster and faster.
"Your attempts are futile, Chancellor. No matter how many you send, I will continue to survive." I quickly stuck my sword in her chest and channeled my ice mana into her core, freezing it and preventing it from speeding up any further.
"Hmmm, I hope so." His eyes didn't even flinch when I stabbed her, and he didn't even acknowledge the stab wound, but I could see the eyes slowly return to their original color and the tattoo begin to fade.
The group had finally arrived at the spot where I was standing, carrying numerous dead bodies. Jason, with the widest grin known to mankind, was the first to speak, "Hey Master Lucas, can I get a bonus after this?"
I replied, "Maybe, I'll decide later. But for now, hurry up and carry that woman's body. We need to finish this." However, as I turned around to face the forest, I suddenly felt a strong pressure behind me. The rest of the group looked shocked and slightly horrified by what they saw.
As I turned back to see what was happening, I was faced with a carbon copy of all of us.
"What are you doing here?"-????
