"Dad! Can you let them leave me for a second!?"
A girl yelled, running down the stairs. A couple of men followed her toward the dining table.
The man sitting on the long-ass table looks up from his newspaper at the girl, who looks irritated.
"Princess, you know how-"
"-Dangerous the outside world is for someone who is the daughter of the mafia boss. Yes, I know."
"Then let them come with you."
The man said it casually. The girl groans and stomps her feet.
She went towards the door, with a couple of men following close behind her.
She then thinks of an idea to escape them.
She went back inside the house and walked away further from the door. As she sees that the distance is okay, she runs to escape them.
"Miss!"
The man in the middle said and ran up behind her. She smirked and held the doorknob, sticking her tongue out to tease them.
"Miss!"
She closes the door loudly and runs away from the mansion.
"Thank God. I have my bag."
She gasps before stopping for a while. She grabs her phone and dials her friend's number.
"Hello?"
"Are you still asleep?"
"I mean, what else should I do?"
"Girl, we have something to do, remember?"
"But that's-"
The girl bumped into someone who seemed to be in a hurry. The person groans and looks up at her.
"Hey! Watch where you're going!"
The girl said. The person stands up and looks around, seeming to have knocked down the bag of the girl.
"Sorry, Miss. I'm in a hurry."
The person said, bowing down before running away.
"Tsk, that girl is so arrogant! She didn't even help me."
"Hey! Are you still there?"
The girl sighs before grabbing her things and putting them back in her bag.
"Yanmei, answer me!"
"What!?"
Zhao Yanmei is your typical Mafia daughter. She parties almost every night, always in the clubs, and hooks up.
But the thing is, she never really liked her father's business.
It's something she hated the most for a reason.
Her father, Zhao Shihong, is someone protective and will do everything to keep his daughter in check.
And that's what he's doing at the moment.
Shihong found her daughter on the sidewalk, quite far from their house.
"Yanmei! How did you manage to get that far!?"
Yanmei looked at her father and rolled her eyes.
"Dad, you literally paid someone to teach me how to run faster."
"Oh, right. I forgot."
Shihong said and smiled at his daughter.
"Ugh! Can't I have a peaceful day!?"
Yanmei walks away from her father. Shihong walks beside her as he looks around the area.
"Princess, you do know it's dangerous."
"Dad, what's the point of letting me learn those lame martial arts if I won't be able to use them for my safety?"
Shihong sighs and shakes his head.
"Our enemies are much worse."
"As if they knew me."
"They'll know you, but we still need to be sure, so I always have my trusted men protecting you."
Yanmei rolled her eyes and went inside their house. She couldn't bear conversing with her father, knowing she'd only feel more irritated.
"Yanmei, I heard you're talking with your father."
"What the hell!? I thought you hung up already!"
"Why would I? Also, you met someone, right?"
"Excuse me? That was supposed to happen—I bumped into someone who didn't even help me gather my things."
"So, do they look like your future?"
Yanmei sat down on her bed. She then thinks of what happened earlier before her father found her.
"She's alright."
"What!? I thought it was a guy."
"Huh? How can you say so?"
Yanmei furrowed her eyebrows at what her friend said.
"The girl has a deep voice. I bet she looks manly."
"What the hell are you talking about, Guang?"
Xu Guang is Yanmei's childhood friend. She's been there for Yanmei for quite some time.
Guang's family may not have the same background as Yanmei's, but they are still rich.
Guang's father once worked with Yanmei's father, but the man decided to cut ties with the mafia as soon as Guang stepped foot in the world.
Shihong, of course, respected the decision and let him off.
They said that someone who walks into the mafia wouldn't be able to step out as quickly as they can.
But Shihong is different from most mafia bosses. He is kind and respectful of someone's decision, as long as it is crucial.
"Psh, manly my ass. She didn't even help me!"
"Also, she's so ugly."
"I don't believe you."
"Excuse me? I'm not a lesbian to have a crush on that girl."
"Fine, whatever makes you sleep at night."
"That's right, you should agree with me."
"Anyways, I'll be hanging up now. I still have school."
Guang hangs up the call. Yanmei sighs and lies down on her bed, looking at the ceiling.
"Why are you thinking of that bastard? She's probably not manly."
Yanmei didn't even have the chance to see the person's face clearly as she was fuming in anger and the person was in a hurry.
Either way, she's still thankful because if she did remember the person, she might get irritated more.
Imagine being ignored!
It was something unexpected because, usually, people would straight up flirt with them as soon as they laid their eyes on her.
Not to brag, but men and even girls want to date her.
Because she already has everything.
The money—just people basing it on her expensive clothing—the face, the brain, the body, and whatever.
"That girl is very disrespectful."
Yanmei couldn't keep her mind from thinking of what had happened earlier. She couldn't get over the person's bad manners toward her.
-
"Hey! Good thing you came!"
Guang said as she greeted Yanmei with a hug. The girl hugs her back and pulls away quickly, inviting herself into Guang's apartment.
"I envy you; you can live by yourself."
"Perks of having a kind parent."
"Are you saying my father's bad?"
"Of course not."
Yanmei glares at Guang before sitting down on her couch.
Guang followed her and typed on her phone.
"Your 1-week boyfriend is asking me to have a date."
"Tell him I'm busy."
"Why didn't you just give him your number?"
"I hate spam messages."
"As if I didn't."
Guang typed on her phone again. She can only roll her eyes at the cheesy lines the guy is telling and the plans for the dates.
"Don't ever give my number to someone you hook up with. I'm tired of replying."
"Well, sorry, they kept asking."
"It's not even your number!"
Yanmei looked at her and just shrugged her shoulders. She grabs the remote control on the coffee table and turns on the television.
"He really wanted to see you."
"Ok, tell him we're finished."
Guang nodded and went back to typing on her phone.
"I already told him and blocked his number."
"Good, let's go shopping."
"What? I don't want to leave my house."
Guang whined as she kicked her feet. Yanmei looks at her weirdly before turning off the television.
"The hell's wrong with you? You're coming with me."
"No."
Guang lays down on her couch and closes her eyes.
Yanmei sighs before she grabs Guang's left arm and drags her out of the apartment.
"You may like it or not, but you're coming."
"No! Don't drag me."
But it was already too late. Both are inside Yanmei's car, which is accelerating toward the mall.
"See? You can't protest."
"What do you mean!? I was clearly yelling earlier for you to stop!"
Guang said before she huffed and crossed her arms.
Yanmei shrugs her shoulders and looks out of the city.
The girl is fascinated by everything around her, as she never really has the chance to stroll around the city.
This was like the second time she had to see the outside world.
Even though she was almost always at clubs, she doesn't have the time to see the outside world in broad daylight.
They passed by a big building, which was very captivating to her eyes.
She knew it was a university. She wanted to go in at least once.
"Miss, we are here."
Yanmei snaps her head towards the driver before looking out the window.
She spaces out.
"Guang, let's go."
The girl groans but walks out of the car anyway.
