Jack walked back to his parents home after the interview that he thought had gone well. He thought he would stop by for a quick snack before he dropped by to their house. Pick up something for his parents as well, he thought. Hello, he greeted the shop owner. Hello, the shop owner greeted back. There was a small conversation between them before he picked up the food and walked away from the store. He tidied up his hair on the window shelf. His mother would always get angry if his hair was unkempt. Even if I had a limb missing, it would not matter. But to have unkempt hair would be a travesty of tremendous proportion. His father did not care that much whether he kept himself tidy or not, but his mother did. He had always obeyed his mother ever since he knew how to. His mother was a saving grace in a world of terror, first his fathers whipping and then the war and now. A terror of silence he faced now. The windows now showed him a reflection of his father. His father wanted him to be a person of success and value. But like fathers he never gave him the time. He expected too much of him but never gave him the chance. He felt his face remembering the slaps he had got when he was much younger. One slap had almost give him a scar. His sister had fallen down under his watch and his fathers fury was all over him. But his mother saved him and combed his hair. She wanted him to know that no matter how many times it got bad, he was still a handsome young boy who was going take the world head on. He smiled, I guess all mothers are like that!
Here is the courier! Said the sergeant to Jack. Bring it to the sergeant, he said and handed him a map. Here! he said pointing at the exact location. Jack stood there standing still. Go! he said. Jack ran down the line and moved in the direction of the sergeant. He ran past the soldiers amidst the bright sunlight. The field looked like freshly cut grass to him. Running and smiling. Bang! a bomb dropped around him and he became unconscious. When he woke up a few hours later he was in a spaceship. There was a masked man in it. And another female warrior with a mask herself too. The colonel was there in the corner tied up. What do you want? asked Jack. He was terrified and petrified. He knew that he was not amongst humans. Hand me the box, said Seronn.
1942 AD, Earth.
He had his box tied around him. He removed the strap at once and handed the box over to him. I have nothing to do with the box, said Jack. There was no response. Seronn just took it and opened the box. He looked over at Jack. Remember this! he said to him as the hylin attached a parachute on Jack and pushed him out of the craft.
