I woke up after having a dream. It must've been a great dream since I'm in a pretty good mood~ too bad I can't remember it.
Another wonderful day ahead of me~ I grinned as I headed towards the bathroom. After getting myself ready to go. I headed into the kitchen for a quick breakfast this time it was french toast! Another of my favorite~
After stuffing my mouth full of french toast I hurried downstairs to the lobby area, to my surprise Marius was already waiting for me and is sitting on one of the chairs near the front desk.
"Marius? How long did you have to wait there?!" I said quickly rushing towards him
"Hm, not that long. About 4-5 ish minutes." He glanced at his pocket watch
I sighed, "We should've set a time to meet." I mentally facepalmed myself
I shook my head, "Let's go?" I held my hand out with a smile
"Let's go~" He grabbed my hand as he got up from the chair.
"Where should we go today?" I asked while I looked around
"Hm.. how abou-" Marius was cut off by a loud noise of people stomping towards a particular area in the town square.
"Ugh-" I lightly mumbled as people swarmed over and repeatedly bumped my shoulders
A moment later I felt a warm sensation over my shoulders, I turned to the side only to see Marius next me shielding me from the crowd with his arm.
I flinched as I saw the people pushing him left and right but it didn't seem to affect him much.
After the crowd finally settle down I grabbed Marius off of my shoulders and turned to face him.
"Marius! Are you hurt? Does your arm hurt?" I said frantically looking at his arm him
He stood there in silence for a moment before snapping out of his thoughts.
"Yes.. I'm fine" he said as he met my eyes again
"AHEM, Hello fellow citizens of Varrenyth!" A man said in a loud and prideful voice behind me.
Me and Marius both turned our attention to the voice, after taking a moment to process we noticed that next to him seemed to be a woman in her early 20's in a long dirty white tattered dress kneeling on a large wooden platform form in front of the crowd of people.
"Marius?! What's going on?" I said worryingly tugging his sleeve with on hand while pointing at the lady with the other
Marius ticked his tongue, "That damn king did it again." He growled
"Again?" I said confused
Marius sighed, "She's innocent."
"But seems like the king's in a pissy mood again." he added as he crossed his arms
"Come on, we need to save her!" Marius grabbed me by the hand pulling me into a strangely narrow alley way.
He quickly ran over to some boxes and dug into them. A few moments later he pulled out something round,
"Hehe~ this is going to be fun" he chuckled as he ran behind a store that was nearest to the crowd.
I followed him silently, still confused about the weird purple pouch he just pulled out.
He glanced at the crowd before opening the pouch and taking a out a glowing and floating.. SPELL?!! I stared at him with the biggest shocked face you could ever and I mean EVER see.
He grinned at me before mumbling something and flinging the spell into the crowd.
"So now that you and this, Witch. Knows what kind of sins she had committed she must now be put to de-" the man was cut off by the sound of fierce ravens coming from all types of directions.
The crowd screamed as a loud popping sound erupted from the ground. Everyone including the man on the platform all seemed to scatter away in an instant!
"WOAH!!" I burst out with sparkles in my eyes
Marius laughed before pulling my hand once again. This time we were heading towards the lady. After getting to the top of the platform we hurriedly freed the lady from the chains.
"H-huh?" Her voice cracked as she looked up at us
"Miss we can't stay here, follow us!" Marius said in a serious tone as he held out his hand
After Marius held out his hand I did the same as well. The lady was shocked for a moment before she held both of our hands to get up.
Marius walked in front guiding us while I held the lady's hand trying to comfort her, after we hurried from alley to alley we finally made it to the secret hideout.
We let the lady in and I guided her to the sofa while Marius went to get something.
"Make yourself comfortable for the time being." Marius said as he went to another room
After waiting a bit Marius returned with a map in his hand.
I silently watch him as he placed down what seems to be a very detailed map onto the coffee table
"You have to leave this kingdom as fast as possible before they send someone to kill you." He said sternly as he stared right at her
She was a bit stunned before stuttering out some words, " u-uhm, wh-where can I even g-go then?"
Marius thought about it for a bit before speaking again, "Here, there's a small village near the east side of this kingdom." Marius pointed at an area on the map
The lady stared at the specific area on the map while biting her lower lip a bit.
"How would I get there?" She asked anxiously
Marius took another moment to himself before responding, "I'll get you a ride"
The women was about to open her mouth to say something before Marius started again.
"You don't worry about it, we're good friends, he won't tell a soul." He smiled lightly at her
The women seemed to be more at ease now
I wonder why miss lady's voice is cracking so much. I showed a worry expression on my face.
"Ah! You must be dehydrated right?" I blurted out my thoughts
I flinched at my words before turning to Marius, "M-Marius where do you keep to water?" I asked nervously
Marius turned to face me.
"Follow me." He said with a soft smile before walking to another room
I followed him to the kitchen area, now having a better look I saw there were only a large container of fresh water and a bunch of storage boxes stacked on top of each other.
"Here you give her some water while I get some snacks out for her" he said pointing to the large container
I nodded as I headed towards the container, I took a ladle and a clean cup from one of the open storage boxes. I carefully scooped some water out and poured it into the cup. I placed the ladle onto the hook on the side of the container before slowly and carefully heading back to the main area.
"Here you go Milady!" I said smiling while holding the cup of water out to her
"Thank you.. your very kind." She said in a gentle tone before drinking some of the water
Marius came back a moment later, and handing her some snacks.
"May I ask when will I be departing?" She asked now her voice being clearer and softer
"My estimate is tomorrow. But I'm not sure." He replied
A moment of awkward silence filled the room until I decided to break that silence.
"Can I ask what your name is miss?" I said trying to sound polite
"Right, sorry about that I had forgotten completely to introduce myself. I am Catherine Beckett."
"We'll nice to meet you Lady Beckett~" I bowed
"A-ah you don't have to do that!" She said flustered
I laughed and so did she.
"Sorry but may I ask.. why were you accused as a witch again?" Marius suddenly asked out of pure curiosity
Miss Beckett paused at him before explaining, "Well I was asked to create a unusual potion by the king, and to shorten it, I couldn't complete my order. So in conclusion he decided to.. frame me of using magic for evil." She sighed as she furrowed her eyebrows.
"Ah, I'm sorry.." Marius bowed slightly
"Don't worry about it, it wasn't you fault." She forced out a chuckle
Before another silent moment could enter the room I lightly tugged Marius's shirt
He turned to me and I asked nervously, "What's the time?"
He took out his pocket out and looked at the time shown, "6:46" he replied
I nodded, "I'll need to excuse myself now, my parents would worry again if I don't return soon." I announced while bowing my head
"Ah.. alright. Goodbye~ I hope we meet again before I have to leave." She said with a gentle smile while she waved
"I'll walk you outside." Marius said after her
"Alright~" I replied
We walked in silence until we reached the porch.
"Can.. we hug..?" He suddenly asked unsure
I laughed, "Of course~" I said with no hesitation and quickly embraced him.
We hugged for while until I started to let go.
"See you tomorrow~" I waved as I walked away.
Marius waved a bit before smiling again.
