Just after sundown in the town of Medley, a black BMW car cruised along the deserted mountain roads. The car was headed straight for one of the town's hidden rivers nestled deep within the mountains.
Soon, the car reached the river and stopped near a spot where the current was particularly strong. A striking woman stepped out, clad in a long black coat, a black hat concealing her golden brown curly hair, and dark shades hiding her dark brown eyes. Despite the coat, her well-proportioned figure was unmistakable—creamy white skin, well-shaped curves, medium-sized hips, large breasts, and pink lips.
With purposeful strides, she walked to the backseat of the car, retrieving a large box. She carried it to the river's edge and placed it on the ground. Opening the box, she gently lifted out a beautiful white wedding dress. As she held the dress, tears began to glimmer in her eyes, and choked words found their way out of her mouth.
"It started just like a fairytale. The wonderful feeling of love at first sight. The feeling that soars you up into cloud nine and creates a safe haven for that dear someone in your heart. The everlasting feeling that makes you believe the precious moments will last forever, bringing a cloud of rain that showers the relationship with blessings and promises of a happily ever after. But that happily ever after was never meant to be mine."
Tears, which had been glimmering in her eyes, turned into rivers streaming down her pretty face. After a few moments of reliving the memories of the past, a darkness clouded her gaze and she began to tear the wedding gown apart, screaming, "Deception!! Deception!! Deception!!" After shredding the dress, she threw it back into the box and took out a matchbox from her coat pocket.
"What is love? I swear I no longer remember. I thought love was the unbreakable bond two people share and endure forever. But reality hit me with its painful truth and broke my delicate, naïve heart, which thought it had found its soulmate. Instead, it was just a wolf in sheep's clothing, waiting for the right moment to attack. What is love?" She paused, lighting a match. "Love is nothing but temporary, just like this tiny match used to light a fire that burns and warms someone else. Its little flame gets extinguished, and the stick is thrown away and forgotten, as it will be no longer useful. Just like it, I was thrown away because I served my purpose of lighting someone else's fire instead of mine, so I was no longer useful."
Her voice grew firmer as she continued, "And because of this, my heart has built a strong wall against love, and it will never break through them. Never again!!" As soon as she finished speaking these words, she threw the match into the box, setting the dress on fire. She watched the flames consume the fabric, then tossed the burning box into the river. The strong current swiftly carried it away and out of sight.
With a final glance at the river, the woman returned to the car and drove away, leaving behind the ashes of a past she vowed to never revisit.
