Chapter 5 - Bothered

Daisy walked out of the bathroom feeling a mixture of relief and lingering anger from her encounter with Marcel, the most obnoxious person she had ever encountered. Just as she was about to head to her classroom, she heard Marcel's voice calling out to her, putting on his naive act as if he had been looking for her.

Annoyed and fed up with his constant pestering, Daisy couldn't hold back her anger any longer. "I told you to stop, but did you really listen the first time? Don't bother me constantly; stop putting up this false front; I'm over you right now; all you do is make me mad for no reason; find someone else to satisfy your need for attention; I'm gently asking you to leave me alone; otherwise," she exclaimed, surprising both Marcel and herself with the sudden outburst of emotions.

Feeling a sense of shame and guilt wash over him, Marcel tried to put on his egoistic mask, unwilling to show how much her words affected him. "Otherwise what?" he cockily responded, trying to maintain his facade.

Daisy, still fuming, took a deep breath and sternly said, "Otherwise, I'll lodge a complaint against you." She refused to back down, determined to stand up for herself and put an end to Marcel's harassment.

Marcel tried to resist the smirk that threatened to surface on his face, responding with a dismissive attitude, "Well, really? I wish you luck with that." But deep down, he knew he had pushed Daisy too far, and her threat had struck a nerve.

As Daisy stormed off to her classroom, she was unaware of Marcel's strained and guilty demeanor as he watched her go. He knew he had crossed a line, and her outburst had made him realize the consequences of his actions.

Meanwhile, Daisy found herself experiencing a mix of emotions. She knew that Marcel was a terrible person, but she was also taken aback by her own sudden outburst. "Woooowww," she whispered to herself, but quickly covered her mouth and burst into laughter, feeling a sense of pride for finally standing up to him.

With no one else in the hallway, she gave herself a metaphorical pat on the back, congratulating herself for her courage. However, her self-awareness crept in, and she began to question if she had gone too far. "Did you speak excessively?" she pondered, unsure if her strong words were the right approach.

As she entered her classroom, Daisy couldn't shake off the adrenaline rush from the confrontation with Marcel. She knew that she had taken a big step in standing up for herself, but she also realized that she had to find a balance between asserting herself and not letting her anger consume her. Deep down, she hoped that her words had finally put an end to Marcel's constant pestering, but she knew that dealing with him might not be that simple.

As she took her seat in the classroom, Daisy couldn't help but feel a sense of empowerment. She had found her voice and stood her ground, and she was determined to continue growing and learning from this experience. Little did she know that her encounter with Marcel was just the beginning of a series of events that would change her life in unexpected ways, leading her closer to the person who had unknowingly captured her heart—Edward Leo.

Daisy stood there, still in shock from Edward's unexpected appearance and his knowledge of her encounter with Marcel. She covered her face to hide her embarrassment, but Edward didn't seem fazed by her outburst; in fact, he praised her for standing up to Marcel.

"You did well. Marcel deserved your scream, so thank you for it," Edward said, his tone carrying a hint of smugness. Daisy blinked in astonishment and asked, "How, how did you know about it?"

Edward leaned in closer, adopting an air of arrogance as he replied, "I knew everything." Daisy couldn't believe it; she had no idea how he found out, but she was both intrigued and bewildered.

"Seriously, tell me how you know about it... you... were there?!?" she asked hesitantly, wanting to get to the bottom of Edward's mysterious knowledge.

Edward's simple head nod was enough confirmation for Daisy, and she couldn't help but wonder why he had been there. "Why?" she inquired, trying to understand his motives.

Edward became stiff and struggled to find the right words. "Uh, nothing. I thought to see if everything was normal or not, which was plainly normal... So," he stammered, not offering a clear explanation.

Daisy was persistent in her questioning, wanting to know the truth. "And what were you doing there? Last time I knew, you were heading to class. What were you doing near the female restroom?" she probed further.

Edward's expression changed, and he seemed taken aback by her direct question. "Uh?" he mumbled, attempting to come up with a response.

But Daisy didn't let him off the hook. She pointed at him and demanded, "Tell me."

Edward finally admitted, "Okay, I was bothered." Daisy stepped back, trying to process his admission.

Was Edward actually concerned about me?

Her hopes were momentarily lifted, but Edward's next words shattered them. "I was troubled by seeing Marcel because I knew he would act again. I stood there, but it appears that you were the one there," he explained, his tone lacking any indication of romantic interest.

Daisy lowered her hand, feeling a sense of disappointment. "Did you mean to insinuate that I am a drama queen?" she asked, trying to understand his perspective.

Edward was about to respond negatively, but once again, Daisy's husky voice cut in. "This is how you perceive me," she remarked, her heart sinking as she realized that Edward might not see her in the way she had hoped.

"You are right, he will annoy me, and you will get late for your class and project specifics with me, so let's get to class and not waste any further time," Daisy said, trying to hide her disappointment.

Edward seemed flustered and quickly denied any negative intentions. "No, no, I didn't intend to say that," he stammered, appearing apologetic.

Daisy raised her head, her eyes revealing a mix of emotions. She wanted to believe that Edward cared for her, but his words had dampened her hopes. Though she acted composed and headed towards class swiftly, Edward could sense her feelings and wanted to apologize for any confusion he may have caused.

As he stood there, feeling miserable, Edward realized that his own feelings were more complicated than he had previously acknowledged. He was bothered by Marcel's behavior, but there was also a part of him that felt bothered by the impact Daisy had on him—the impact he couldn't quite understand or explain. As they made their way to class together, Edward couldn't shake off the feeling that his emotions were becoming increasingly entangled with Daisy's, and that frightened him as much as it intrigued him.
