"So this is the place, huh?"
The building didn't look too broken down and from the sounds of things, people were inside there.
Approaching the front door, Brandyn lifted off his grey hoodie and the door just opened as he did so. The door was a dark oak brown and there was a handprint lock across it, but it clicked right open somehow. Behind the door was none other than Flavian.
"Oh, Flavian!" Brandyn said in a polite manner, nodding at him.
"Good, you're here on time." Flavian said, closing the door behind him.
The walls were made of wood on the inside and the paint on them seemed to had already been removed. Some of the rooms were completely empty and dark but then other rooms had portable tables with laptops and white lighting.
"Through here." Flavian directed, entering the room where Carbine was located.
"Ah! Brandyn! You were successful yet again. Master is really starting to get fond of you. There is your 4,400 marks." Carbine said, finishing his typing on his laptop.
There was a brown bag with several 20-mark notes inside of it, with the head of the country's head of state covering almost half of the note. Seeing his face made his heartbeat intensify but it was only brief as he slammed the top of the bag shut by clenching his hand into a fist.
"You two. I know that you are a part of this criminal organization due to the tough upbringing of, for you Flavian, being a regular born and I'm sure you have your struggles too. However, do you two actually know why us gangs exist?" Carbine said, falling back in his rolling chair.
Brandyn looked at Flavian, confused, but then he began to think. He was able to sum out a rough guess and since Flavian didn't exactly look confident in answering the question, Brandyn took the initiative and gave the first comment.
"Well, Primos is one of the richest cities in the world. With a large gap between the strong and rich, and the weak and poor, crime is a source of income for those at the bottom." He replied nonchalantly.
*clap*
*clap*
Carbine stood back up in his seat and seemed to be intrigued by Brandyn's response.
"Your guess is on the right lines. What is key to our existence is money that flows in and money that flows out. Yes, Primos is one of the richest cities in the world, but the flow of money is what keeps us going. And you are correct, there is a high number of low-income and weak individuals, that we can take advantage of. Us weaklings are the suppliers, and the consumers at the same time." He explained, clearly showing a developed understanding of the subject.
The 2 teens were just silent after this as they hadn't exactly been in this situation before.
"Anyway, you've been tasked with taking out a certain someone. He's part of a gang and he has been affecting our profits for the past few months. He also gravely injured one of my colleagues, who won't be in action for the next 2 months."
"Really?! Octane got taken out?" Flavian asked abruptly.
"Yeah. This guy is 6'3, 200lbs, and has an eagle tattoo across his back. He won't be an easy fight and for you, Flavian, I'll give you super pellets and the Grade 2 exo." Carbine announced, lifting up in his seat.
"Will I get anything?" Brandyn asked, since it seemed that Flavian was getting a lot of strong items.
"No. You don't need anything, do you?" Carbine asked, lifting to commence the preparations for the mission.
Brandyn actually gave this comment quite a bit of thought.
"Oh yeah! I have that dagger that I haven't really used yet. It's pretty weird trying to implement my new combos into actual fights but I think I'll do fine." Brandyn surmised.
"No."
"Good. You don't have to kill the guy and, to be honest, you probably won't be able to. Just cause as much damage then get the hell out of there."
There was a creaky door situated on the wall of the room and behind this door, was a dense armoury. It gave off the smell of cool metal but also oil and gunpowder.
The room was completely dark, and it was impossible to see anything in the room initially, but once the light was turned on, the room was completely illuminated.
Across the walls, were several exoskeletons that were hanging off the ceiling. Also, there were firearms behind the exoskeletons, with boxes of ammunition ahead of them on tables. The walls were a dark oak and Carbine lifted off an exoskeleton with somewhat ease.
Brandyn immediately saw him do this and was fascinated by the level of strength that he had showcased.
"That exoskeleton must be more than 30 kilograms. This guy is strong." Brandyn deduced.
"Alright. You have 6 mega pellets and 2 super pellets. Use your super pellets wisely because if you don't you will die."
After this, Flavian received his technology, and the exoskeleton was attached to a backpack. As he put on the backpack, he clicked the skeleton-like exoskeleton over his limbs and torso.
Finally, he grasped the matchlock pistol tightly before slotting in the first mega pellet.
"It's time to go!"
