Chapter 14 - Dr. Unforgettable

Aubrianne Ivanov POV

Bringing me back to her and the present, Jada giggles and says, "thirsty a$$ b!t3h."

I playfully shove her, "don't say that!" I exclaim, and we laugh so hard. I coughed, and we laughed some more till I swore my stitches would burst out, so I quickly tried calming myself and catching my breath. My hand automatically went to caress my head, and I grimaced.

She looked at me sympathetically and told me she was sorry.

"Don't worry about it; I am fine," I reassured her.

"Hey, Aubri," Shawn says with a sleepy voice.

Oh, oh, we seem to have woken Shawn with our laughter.

"Heyyy, Shawn," I cooed.

He stretched, then got up and walked over to me. Hovering, he slid a strand of wayward hair out of my face and placed it behind my ear.

Then he looks me in the eye, "hey beautiful, you sure you ok?"

I look at him and respond, "yes, Shawnee bear, I'm ok, and I'm feeling good actually, although this one nearly made me blow out some stitches," pointing an accusing finger at Jada.

She flashes us a sheepish look.

Shawn gave me that side smile he likes to flash like he is so laid back and is the 'I ain't got time to f around type.' He reached in to hug me, and I met him, hugging him back in return, reassuring him that I was ok. When he says, "you know you are the only one that can call me that, right?"

My smile reached my ear, "I know," I agreed while hugging him.

He then kissed me on the forehead and bid me goodbye as he left to head back to the club to take care of some things and prepare for tonight. He said goodbye to Jada as well, then he left.

I would really miss him, and my heart ached, feeling like someone squeezed it as I watched him walk away.

Jada told me, "the Doctor said when you woke up..."

"By the way, what day is it?" I interrupted, because was it Saturday? If Shawn was leaving to go prepare for tonight?

"It's Saturday," she answered.

"What the f**k? When did I first wake up?" I whispered, shouted, sitting up.

"You took a very long time to wake up, the first time, which was late yesterday evening." Jada explains and then goes on, "we were so worried."

OK, so you mean, when I thought it was the wee hours of Friday morning, it was actually Friday evening? Oh my god.

Shit, I curse under my breath as I slouch back down on the bed, looking up at the ceiling. My flight is tomorrow. Jeez, I couldn't believe I was out for so long initially, and I slept long as well.

But wait, Dr. White did say they would keep me here overnight, and now I am simply thankful it was obviously Saturday and not Sunday, and I missed my flight.

Geez, like I am losing my mind.

I spaced out and had an entire conversation, trying to recall all the last-minute things I wanted to take care of yesterday. Had I not been in this situation...

Jada continues,... "anyways, they will check up on you, and if all goes well, you can go home, but cautioned that you should take it lightly for the next two weeks." She looks at me pointedly.

I rolled my eyes for the last part, then let out a sigh of relief at the thought of getting out of here, "I can live with that."

I just want to be out of here and return to Jada's place. I only have a few more days left. Hence, I stayed with Jada after packing up all my stuff to ship to my new location, which, as I thought of it. It should be there by now.

I also want to take a nice long hot shower and snuggle up in a bed other than a hospital bed. Although this one was alright, and even my clean surroundings here are bliss. But I want to be out of here.

As if on cue, Dr. White strolls into the room, looking like a sex god. Who is this? 'Dr. makes me weak in my knees?' Now that I am fully aware, awake, and not an emotional wreck, he is haandsoommee.

And I do notice a change in his appearance, like he definitely shaved and got a haircut.

So maybe I was not that out of it. But now, I really saw him. His dark brown hair was trimmed low, and his face looked more defined, with thick eyebrows and medium-sized wet lips as he just licked them.

His shoulders were not too broad. However, he does have muscle, is medium built in size, five feet nine inches, and looks like he works out. He wore a white coat over a casual baby pink tight shirt paired with grey pants and a brown round mouth shoe.

He had that slender-shaped, sharp face.

There must be some real Grey's Anatomy $h!t taking place in this hospital because I would undoubtedly be all over him. Though I must say, he looks like the type that changes women, like how he changes his clothes. Hard pass for me.

He had a broad smile and looked at me with those grey eyes. He said, "Ms. Ivanov, this is nurse Sheila," I barely even noticed anyone else with him. It was like I was genuinely seeing him for the first time, and I must admit I couldn't stop myself from admiring Dr. Unforgettable.

"And she is here with me today as I do some final checks on you and also remove your catheter, and if all goes well, you can head home after filling out and signing the release forms."

Uhh, the catheter. Nevertheless, I smiled widely, not missing the part where Dr. White says I can go home, as I really want to get out of here. "Sure, Doc, besides, you can check on me any day and any time you like," I purr. I bloody purred, seriously?

I really couldn't help myself now, could I? I could just disappear.

Then glancing at Jada, she watched me incredulously as she mouthed, "what was that?" Then she smirked, eyes full of mischief. With a look that says, girl, do not act like I didn't just catch you ogling Dr. White.

I rolled my eyes, then looked at Dr. White and said, "Please, Dr. White, let's get this over with." I suddenly felt a bit embarrassed.

"Sure, let me allow Sheila to take out the catheter first, as one of the things I need from you is for you to stand a walk." Dr. White informs.

He moves beyond the curtain line, and Sheila pulls it, covering us. When she was assured I was ready, she proceeded to lift my gown and get to work.

Once the task was complete, nurse Sheila discarded the items and pulled back the curtains.

Dr. White, who was patiently waiting, effortlessly shuffled closer to me and proceeded with his checks. He gently motions for me to sit up, his hand slightly touching my shoulder and slowly guiding me to sit up as if I would break if I sit up too fast.

He then shone a light in my eyes, telling me to follow his fingers, ran his pen on the flat of my feet, making sure I still had feeling there, and so on.

The last thing he made me do was to stand for him to check my mobility, which I initially thought I would fail, and be given the heart-wrenching news that I needed to stay another day as I thought about how long I had been asleep and off my feet.

However, I was determined to get out of here, so I gently swung my feet off the bed. I placed my feet flat on the comfy carpeted surface, my toes flexed, prompting Jada to get up and put on my cozy slippers for me to step on.

Seems she brought a bag of my stuff, things I may need when she has gone home to shower, and I am thankful.

I repositioned my feet, now resting comfortably in my comfy slippers, and slowly stood. Jada was quiet throughout but attentive as she watched what was happening. I gave her an appreciative smile.

I braced myself, my hand on the bed, but surprisingly I didn't need much bracing as I realized I was feeling terrific. My head was not throbbing, the room was not spinning or anything, and I was now fully standing straight up. I then took a small step and then another...

OK, so I may be exaggerating a little in an attempt to make sure I get out of here.
