Chapter 9 - Ch09. Troubling answers

Ruun and Kora watched as the group of heroes frenziedly bashed at the Great Constellation.

He smiled upon the scenery of blood and screams, and even sighed in approval to what the heroes were doing.

But when it finally seemed that they were on the verge of killing the Constellation, he stepped forwards and ordered them.

"Enough!"

The heroes all froze at the sound of Ruun's voice.

"Good boys." He walked towards the Great Constellation, now, just a wretched, godly woman, bloodied and in tatters, looking at Ruun with a pleading face.

"W-what... Do you want... From me...?"

Ruun scratched his chin, and stated.

"I'll give you two choices, and in both of them, you give me what I want."

"..."

"In one of them, you walk out of here as a slave, but you're still capable of breathing." And after a pause to the Constellation to understand the gravity of Ruun's words, he spoke again. "On the other hand, you might feel more pain than you already felt. You will die as many times as I need you to, and I will bring you back to life all the times. Finally, you will snap, and you'll give me what I want. So, what will it be?"

She looked at Ruun, and knew he was different from a few minutes ago.

He didn't age, but he looked stronger, smarter.

He looked 'vastly' more powerful than before.

And Ruun already posed a threat to her when he was brought back to life.

So, as she felt Ruun's presence, she finally said.

"I'll... Take... The first."

"Good. Do you have any of your fingers on a certain ritual?" The Great Constellation grew pale at the mention of those words.

"Ho-how... How do you know about that?"

She then shrieked, as Ruun summoned the gravity force upon her once more.

"I. Ask. The. Questions. You answer them." He looked serious, for the first time. "Now, what do you know about it?"

But before the Constellation could open her mouth to speak, he retorted.

"And don't mind telling me that you can't speak the name of the entity you're trying to summon to our world. I already know that."

The Constellation's mouth opened agape, her lips bobbing up and down in shock.

"My patience won't last forever, so I 'kindly' suggest you 'talk'."

Ruun's eyes glowed, purple.

"You... Were the first. Because you had the will to bring destruction to all living beings..."

Ruun waited, giving one more step forward, healing the Constellation, so that she could speak less pausedly.

"I can't name 'him', but what was requested from me, was that I turned the world against you, making you grow fonder of violence and evilness..."

"You're telling me that who I am, now, is nothing but a plan to bring some sort of forbidden deity into our world?"

The Great Constellation didn't reply.

Instead, Ruun broke out in laughter, as Kora and the heroes watched him.

"Just say that you became greedy, and decided to betray whoever master you served, but I stood in your way, and you chose this puny heroes to make me snap, giving you a chance to send me into the Abyss. It would make much more sense, actually."

"I did." The Great Constellation's voice was filled with what could only be shame and regret. "But now, you come back here, right after I imprisoned you, already knowing what could only happen in, at least, a century from now... How?"

"I won't kill you right now, just because I have one. Last. Question. And you 'will' answer."

"What is it?!" She scorned.

"If you said I was the first, then, whoever wants to come down here, was or is planning to bring more people back, to follow with this ritual. Who are these people that 'he' wants?"

"Oh, but you already know them." She snorted at Ruun. "But I wont need to tell you who they are, because YOU. ARE. ABOUT. TO. DIE!"

right after her sentence, she began glowing in a golden light, and Ruun knew exactly what was going to happen.

Differently from his brother, the Constellation had a different purpose, and Ruun assumed that if she failed hers, she would self destruct, taking everything and everyone near with her.

"No, you won't." Ruun said, snapping his fingers.

An invisible force field immediately surrounded the Great constellation, who looked at Ruun with wide eyes, screaming and contorting.

And the force field began shrinking, squeezing her tightly inside its grasp.

So much so, that after a few moments, when she finally exploded in a tiny burst of light, that didn't do more than shake the tiniest moment in space, she didn't move.

She didn't scream.

She didn't even breathed.

The heroes looked at Ruun, and then at the place where the Great Constellation once was.

In awe, Revan asked.

"Why did you kill her? Weren't you... You know, supposed to get more answers from her?"

"And who are you to think you can tell me what I am or am not supposed to do?" Ruun retorted, raising his brow.

Revan, still not used to the fact that he became a slave to Ruun, looked down, and spoke again.

"Hum... Why did you kill her?"

"I will let that slide go unnoticed, but the next time, I won't be so nice." Ruun tucked his hands in his pockets. "And who said I didn't get all the answers I needed?"

Kora smirked at Revan and the other heroes.

'That's my master!' She thought, as Ruun continued.

"It's time for you, so-called 'heroes', to finally do your job."

The heroes kept looking at him, silent, confused.

"Do I have to tell you everything I need you to do, now?" He sighed. "Go, now! Spread the word. Clean the mess you made..."

"And what about you?"

Gorkas' tone was more polite than Revan's, because he knew 'why' they had to do it.

"Kora and I have work to do, and since the constellation already told me everything I needed, There are a few places I have to visit." And after a pause. "Even more nowadays, in a world where the god are still alive."

He knew where he would have to go next, and for that part of the journey, he needed to drop by a certain place, before he began crushing his family.
