As Strelitzia left Ray'ven's room, Garvet cleared his throat. "So you're the legitimate next heir after Bynx, hm?"
Strelitzia was startled by the sudden appearance of the councilman. Had he been waiting outside the door? Everything about the man was so birdlike and odd. She cleared her throat before attempting to speak. "Ah, I am unsure if that information was correct. I'm just the king's niece. Ray'ven is his daughter."
"I've known Bynx for a long time and he's never lied to that extent. You never know, you may end up taking my hand instead, lady Strelitzia."
"As much of an honor as that would be," She smiled "I wouldn't dare think such a thing when you're now married to my cousin."
"By law, we aren't married until this whole illegitimate thing has blown over. I've always," He lifted a strand of her hair and released it, winking as he did. "Preferred brunettes over dark-haired women."
