God stood there in their male form with white dreads going down their back. Umber coated their skin, which contrasted with his well-kept short white beard; their ivory looked old as time by their features was youthful.
"Welcome home, Azrael. '' they turned around with their arms wide open with a smile on their face. Welcoming Azrael as she has gone on vacation or to another dimension for a few years.
This made Azrael's blood boil "Welcome back… "She hissed moving towards him "over five hundred years, and even though there is no concept of time in heaven, that's how long I have been trapped on earth" they ignore her rage, and continue to tend the plants in the garden.
"Everything has its time" they hummed, not minding her cocked hip and huffing "your time on earth was not a trap but an experience, everything went as planned" Azrael walked up to their pot plants and threw one.
But God wasn't phased. "I spent all that time trapped in amnesia and the only thing you have to say is 'went as planned'. What next you tell me that 'everything happens for a reason'" she sparkled her hands at the quotes but they still stood calm.
Their beads jiggled as they moved to comfort the angel but she raised the scythe "but Everything happens for a reason, like your duties were you learned compassion, your love for Lucifer were you learned forgiveness, your amnesia were you learned how to be human and your journey" they paused looking at me "look how strong you have become, how this journey thought you to strive, grow and to even stand against me, your perfect" they smiled, the type to heal a broken soul but she didn't have one.
Tears started falling down her face. "No," she whispered, gripping her scythe, who shook in her hand. "I am perfectly traumatized. I have no soul. I am an angel. I wasn't made to be perfect but to aid your loneliness and when we couldn't do that. We served you. We don't need lessons, we don't need you to teach us anything because we are you," she pointed out realizing "I don't know why I even came" she turned to leave.
A thundering laughed sounded behind her "predictable, you are going back to him, you will lie to yourself and claim it is for that pure soul but its for him" she turn, moving towards them, backing them up against the wall with scythe aimed at their throat "it seems like you have learnt more from the mortals that you want to admit and deep down you understand my fascination with them" she looked deep into their eyes when a flame flew past us.
She turned to find all four archangels staring at her, she pulled the scythe away "I am not going back" she hissed before heading to the door but God grabbed her arm and almost instinctively, she moved to slide their arm but they were much faster.
Their eyes turned frantic "you have to go back, you have to get Lucifer back on his throne" he pleaded, Azrael felt the angel atmosphere change.
"why?" She stared at this Being bored.
Their eyes lingered on the archangels behind her before turning back to hers "because they will raise" Azrael moved closer to them.
"who" she watched them fidget with the hemp of their boho white shirt.
"The horsemen" they pronounced with fear in their eyes.
We were transported into God's mind where rolls and rolls of scrolls sat in holes that were carved into the wall. And in the midst of it all sat a scroll that looked ancient, God moved hysterically. Their beads and jewels jiggled as they moved to it. Azrael followed close behind them as they placed their hands on the scroll which had sketches of an old prophecy.
Azrael saw the four horsemen depicted in illustration coming from the heavens down towards the earth. The first horsemen rode on a white horse, a bow in his hand and a crowd on his head, the second rode a red horse and held a great sword in her hand, the third rode a black horse and carried a balance scale in her hand but the forth, last horsemen rode a pale horse and scythe was in her grasp, Azrael looked to God.
They point to each other "the four horsemen, Conquest" they point to the white horsemen who aimed his weapon forward "War" then point to the red horsemen who slash her sword cross the sky "famine" the black horseman scaled moved from side to side "Death" God looked up at Azrael as the pale horseman horse crush a skull beneath it's feets "if I or Lucifer isn't on our throne, and our duties forsaken, they will raise and rain until the earth is cleansed" they explained slowly, watching Azrael eyes focus on the pale horseman "you have to get Lucifer back on his throne or you will lose yourself" Azrael took a step back, her mind was racing with the thoughts with future "these beings have no will, no words just their duty and yours is to kill, all good and bad, you will have no choice" Azrael took in a deep breath and stepped away from the horrid scroll.
She covered her face, her chest heated up and throat began to burn. "Why would you create this?" she started at them "why would you do this to me" the words came out as a whimper.
"it was a…precaution" God struggled as Azrael gave him a deadpan look "remember the flood, Sodom and all those tragedy, to keep the serpent seed uncontrolled but" suddenly we stood over Cape Town, looking down at mortal at the beach "they persist, they strive, my creation is perfect" they whispered admiring this world.
Azrael held her stomach "your creation is killing me" she clutched her chest at the thought of not having a choice.
They were transported back into the greenhouse, the archangel stood where they left them "Will you return Lucifer to his throne?" God asked behind her, she turned to stare in the eye "help him and you can come home" she felt the archangel atmosphere lightened.
She squeezed scythe in her hands "I will return Lucifer to his throne" God smiled as sigh of relief moved through the group behind him "but this is not my home anymore" she turned to left but God grabbed her arm and lifted scythe to their throat and the weapon hummed ready to take their life "you have no power over me anymore, I am earthbound, remember" she turned walking past her archangel when Uriel grabbed her arm.
His touch was like fire, it warmed her chest and thousands of years ago that alone might have made her stay "come home" he whispered like burning ash.
She pulled her arm away from him "I have no flame" She reminded him before leaving the holy of holiness.
