Chapter 8 - ...Hell...

"You are finally awake" a voice as sharp as a snake's fangs reached Nat's ears. Nat lifted her head to look at the throne and found the beautiful woman laying across it with an evil smile on her face, her long ivory legs draped over the throne's arm, her long black hair flowed down from her head, she looked familiar but Nat couldn't place her.

"so, you are the girl my son is obsessed with?" she giggled until her face turned sore. "How pathetic" she swung her legs over the throne before standing on her feet.

The woman ripped the cloth from Nat's mouth. "I am sorry to disappoint but you have the wrong girl," Nat said with a forced smile

"Oh honey, I have the right one" she paced around the pit before stopping next to Nat, bending over at her waist. "Are you that Nat girl?" she whispered in her ear and made Nat's stomach twist.

"what of it?" Nat answered. She stared at the woman with such distaste in her mouth, but she was curious. Why would she want Nat?

"Oh darling, why so bitter?" she asked, standing straight up again, looking down at Nat as if to assert dominance.

"I don't know," Nat rolled her eyes but continued "maybe because I am tied up, hanging over a pit with spears at my throat or the fact that I was hit on the head and kidnapped, maybe it was that, pick one" Nat raised her voice a bit, annoyed at the thought of being here.

"Ooh… being testy, aren't we?" she shook her head as she paced back and forth "very testy for a person in this situation" she smiled, the realization hit Nat like a ton of bricks and she knew who this temptress was, Lilith, the Goddess of creation.

Nat let her head fall and a sinister laugh bubbled in her throat "Maybe you should re-evaluate the situation, love" Nat whipped her head up looking up at the goddess in the eye "I am in this situation because I allowed myself to be in it" a deranged smile flickered in Nat's eyes as the chain that held her above the pit snapped.

She fell but Nat pushed off the side, flipping backward and landing on her feet, the orc guards rushed to her side and the goddess stepped back in fright " I don't take to way I have been treated but because you seemed to have brought me here for a reason and I am all ears, darling" she pulled the last words from her mouth.

"No need to get offensive" Lilith held her hands up in surrender, trying to shake off the act she just witnessed "I am just here to warn you of your precious boss, whom you think so highly of" she smirked in fake innocence with a hand to her non-existent heart.

Nat gave a deadpan look at the goddess "have no time for your manipulation, witch" Nat attempted to break free but she realized where she was "how do I stand in hell when only the deemed and dead, can stand with in it?" Nat whispered to herself "I thought Lucifer said I couldn't cross the fiery river" she looked at the goddess, and a smirk appeared on her face.

She slender towards Nat "my son keeps a lot of secrets" her smirk grew wider "Lots of secrets from you" she whispered trying to convince Nat of his betrayal, one that was moving through the back of her mind.

Tears wheeled her eyes and the sense of choking pulled at her throat "keep your tongue witch" Nat hissed and began breaking the chains that held her before grabbing each orc and pushing them into the pit.

Lilith saw the rage in Nat's eyes, and she backed up towards the throne "Wait!, listen to me" she shouted in fear as Nat moved towards her "Azrael, listen" she held her hands up as Nat stopped in step.

"What did you call me?" Nat asked with ivory eyes and a shocked look on her face.

Lilith grabbed the scepter and pointed at Nat

"your name" she announced as Nat stared up at her confused.

"you truly have me confused, I am not the angel of death" Nat moved further towards the goddess as the scepter hit her chest, the scepter was made of brimstone with a star as the head, but three pointed edges that reached forward resembled a pitchfork.

"But maybe you are" her voice hushed at the end "do you remember anything before him?" she questioned softly.

"Yes, I remember being tied to a post, flames at my feet, and your son found me, he walked among the flame and saved me from my burning fate" Nat answered walking towards her, remembering that day so vividly.

"Yes, but before that?" she pushed the scepter harder against her chest.

"I hit my head" Nat answered simply, she had amnesia after that fateful day.

"Funny how you don't remember it?" she began to circle Nat, twirling the scepter between her fingers.

"Yea, that's what happens with amnesia" Nat rolled her eyes, clearing her throat and trying to push away the gulp that was stuck in it.

"yes, funny how he happened upon a 'witch'" she created quotation marks around the last word "how she happened to have the power to see souls," she smiled, Nat eyed the goddess "how she happened to have the watch of death, the one watch that tells us who lives, who dies," Nat moved back, shaking her head as Lilith stopped in front of her.

"You speak nonsense!!" Nat screams, launching for the goddess, grabbing Lilith around her neck, and pushing her against the back of the throne chair.

But Nat's aggression did not phase the goddess. "I speak truly" she smirked before I felt a hand grab Nat's head and she fell herself falling back, as flashes of her life fell with her, memories some good, some bad, some unfamiliar flashed by until…
