Chapter 8 - Chapter Eight

I pulled into the school parking lot, my speaker blasting "Demons" by Imagine Dragon. I'd never driven myself to school before but I knew just where to park. Jason's not here yet and I was counting on that. Parking spots were reserved for teachers and high-ranking pack members. Jason, as future alpha, his beta which is technically me but his best friend Kevino parks there and his gamma. I pulled into Jason's spot, which should piss him off enough for me to get close. I got out of the car, put my glasses on, and grab my backpack off of the passenger seat, I looked around and spotted Tameka's car which means she and Lydia will be in their usual spot where they hung out before school starts.

Walking across the parking lot I ignore the hundreds of eyes following my every move. Since most of the wolf population at school was from my pack they would have identified my scent. Whether they believe it's me or not is another story. A group of guys from a neighboring pack whistled at me when I walked past them and I took pity blowing a kiss over my shoulder at them. I made it to the benches where my friends and their friends that were not friends of mine were sitting. They both had their backs turned to me but as I got closer they must've smelled me coming and both turned in their seat when I was a few feet away. The looks on their faces were priceless, I had to laugh. My friends haven't seen me dressed in anything other than jeans, a t-shirt, and sneakers for the last three years and now I was bearing my midriff.

"Hey, guys, what's up?" They stared at me and I stared back at them no one saying anything. Tameka was the first to finally get her brain working again I guess because she was the first to speak.

"Payton, is that you?"

Taking my sunglasses off, I smiled brightly at her. They both started screeching and considering that they're both werewolves it should've hurt their ears as much as it did mine before getting up and tackling me. How we didn't all end up on the ground was a gift from the goddess.

"Are you guys done?" I asked moving my hands from my ears when they finally let go of me. With Wynter awake now after so long all my scenes were sensitive.

"Wow! It's about time you started dressing like a normal teenage girl and you look hot by the way, but what prompted the change?"

"Thanks for that Tameka, I think, as for my reason I just figured it was time for me to let my presence be felt rather than blending into the background."

Lydia opened her mouth to say something but was interrupted when a roar came from across the parking lot. I knew right away that it was Jason, for one thing, all the pack members had their heads lowered in submission, including Tameka and Lydia, and also Wynter whimpered feeling her mate's presence and power for the first time.

"He's strong," she says.

"Yes he is, Wynter, but we're stronger and he'll soon find that out.

"Yes, we must make mate see that we are worthy."

I didn't respond to that, I didn't need to prove my worth to him what I needed was to get close to him, that was my singular focus. Although wild wolves often have long-lasting attachments to their mates they could mate with other wolves that are not their mates thus destroying the long-held "mate for life" myth about wild wolves. Werewolves, on the other hand, did mate for life, and like I told Jason, there are only two ways out of it, either I accept his rejection, or one is marked and mated to another. What I didn't mention was that if one were to die before the bond was completed the bond dies with that person. When werewolves are marked and fully mated to each other and one of the mated couples dies then the other will follow soon after, either taking their own life or their grief would consume them till they eventually die. If they were lucky enough to survive, the faith that awaited them wasn't much better than death, for they'd most likely turn into rouges.

Luckily for me, I didn't have to worry about all that, being a hybrid does come in handy, it also makes it easier to get what I want but the easy way is not always the right way. Plus this way I get to mess with him a little before I take my revenge.

"If you'll excuse me, girls, my mate just got here and he doesn't sound too happy. "I'd better go check on him, see what's got him all worked up." God, this sweet girl act is getting on my damn nerves. Their faces were something to see, they looked more like fish out of water than wolves with their mouths hanging open ready to hit the ground. Reaching out with both hands I lift both their chins up to close their month.

"Don't want to be catching flies now do we, girl?"

I winked at them and I walk off. Everyone could scene the tension in the air and they just parted like the red sea as I made my way to Jason. He was standing beside my car glaring at it, his best friend and another guy were trying to calm him down but it didn't look like it was working. He looks ready to shift and destroy my car which would be a very bad thing. I would hate to have to kill him if he so much as starches my dad's car.

He starts sniffing the air and I know his wolf is telling him I'm nearby so I let Wynter out a little, his head snapped in my direction and he lets out another fierce growl, his eye turning blood red. I plastered on the sweetest smile I could muster and stopped in front of him. His friends moved back from him and I took another step forward. Even with the added four inches from my boots, he was still taller but not by much. He reached out and wraps an arm around my waist pulling me in and pinning my body to his. It was safe to say that Thunder his wolf was in control, especially when he sticks his head between my neck and shoulders and starts breathing in my scent. Sensing her mate Wynter pushes forward and I relinquish a little of my control. He pulls back suddenly and smashes his lips to mine, I wrap my arms around his neck to balance myself. When I don't submit right away to the kiss he tightens his hold on me and I tighten my fingers in his hair.

This is my game.

I sucked his bottom lip into my mouth and he moans, his hold tightening further. While he was distracted I used a sharpened claw to cut a nice clump of his hair before biting down on his lip and drawing blood. He pulls back from me and I smile at the confused look on his face. I gave him a minute for his brain to catch up and when it did and Jason was back in control. His arms immediately fell away from my body and I release my hold on him as well. Taking care to not let him see or drop the hair in my hand.

"You need to put on a different shirt, right now!" he growls out causing my smile to widen. That was exactly the reaction I was hoping for.

Alpha wolves were notoriously territorial and a hundred times more possessive than order wolves, especially over their mates. My theory was that Jason was able to identify me as his mate, Thunder too but because Wynter was asleep that made it easier for him to reject me, so in a nutshell, he wanted to reject me not his wolf. His wolf wanted its mate and would fight him to be with us and that's what was going to make this fun...

I am so glad I wasn't wrong about that.

He shakes his head seeming to clear his thoughts and in the blink of an eye, the little fucker had me pinned to his rover, hand wrapped around my throat. It took everything in me not to rip off his arms and beat the shit out of him with them, but that would have been counterproductive so instead, I smiled like a fool at him and then injected as much excitement into my voice before speaking.

"Feel better honey, I hope you don't mind me parking in your spot, I figured since we're mates and all you wouldn't mind." I do have to go through, the bell is about to ring." I brought my knee up hard and fast introducing his little friend to it. His arm fell away from my neck and he drops to his knees. I dropped down in front of him looking him dead in the eyes.

"The real fun begins now."

The bell rang and I got up and turn to leave but the looks on his face and his pack guards' face had me laughing so hard I wanted to roll around on the ground. They wouldn't, dear, get involved, no one would, because not only do you not get involved in an argument between mates, you especially don't want to when it involves an Alpha. That and I was beta, plus they're all scared shitless of my mother.

"Okay boys I have to go now I'll see you at lunch."
