"Mom, I'm home."
"Living room now!" She does not sound happy, good thing I left all the bags in the car.
"The bank called again, they wanted to know if I was sure I didn't want to cancel your card."
I took a seat on the couch as far away from where mom sat, just in case I need to make a run for it. She didn't say anything and I wasn't stupid enough to offer anything up. So we just sat there in silence for a few minutes. The funny thing about silence is it also can be deafening. I kept my head down and eyes on my nails that were polished in black today. Come to think of it I only ever wear black nail polish, it's my favorite color or shade.
"Give it to me." I looked up at the sound of my mom's voice with confusion as to what she wanted. She just raised her eyebrows at me then I notice she'd held out her hand when I brought my eyes back to hers. She looked pissed; the muscles in her jaws were ticking and I knew I was in a whole lot of trouble.
"Give me the card Payton!" My mom's voice boomed scaring the living daylights out of me. I hurried to take the card from my bag and place it in her outstretched hand.
"From what the bank told me and the amount of money you spent am going to assume that you bought that bike you've been going on about for a while now."
"Yes, mom."
"When does it get here?
"In a couple of hours, I told them I needed it for school tomorrow so I had to pay a little extra for them to fill up the tank and deliver it out here."
"Is that so? Well unfortunately for you, you're grounded for the next three weeks and you don't get to ride that bike until you turn eighteen and unti-
"But mom I-
The look she gave me shutting up real fast. When my mom's angry, trust me, the last thing you want to do is make it worse. Last time I did that I got dropped in the Arctic Ocean and the time before that I got turned into a book and left on the floor for twelve hours.
"Until your birthday, you'll go to school come home, and train, am I clear?
"Yes, mom." I was not going to argue if that's all she was going to do, I could wait three weeks. It was better than her sending it back, plus she didn't mention the stuff I got at the mall so I was going to count my lucky stars, again.
"Now, before you go we need to talk about a few things. Graduation is not till June but I will be leaving as soon as you turn eighteen and have your full Powers."
"Mom wait! What? I can't start a new school now it's too late, it's the middle of the semester, plus why do we have to move?
"I said I was leaving not that we were leaving or moving for that matter."
"What does that even mean?
"It means you're going to be an adult soon and you need to figure out what direction you want to take, so after the power ceremony and you have your full powers I'm going to take a trip to Europe, spend some time with my sister and the Coven."
"How long will you be gone"? My mom's coven was in Spain, which is also where my aunt Mona lives.
"I'll be back for your graduation."
"Okay."
"Now go get change for training."
"Can I go put the car in the garage first?
"That's fine I'm going to go change too, you have an hour."
That went a lot better than I thought it would. It took me about half an hour to put the car in the garage and transport most of the stuff I got at the mall to my room. I was trying to be as quiet as possible so my mom didn't come out of her room and see all this stuff. I already lost my bike I'm not about to lose my stuff too. I hid the rest of the stuff behind the tool wall in the garage. I'll go back and get them later when mom has gone to bed, don't want to piss her off more by being late for training.
Pulling out some of my new training gear I push all the other stuff to the back of my closet. I'll put everything away later. Stripping out of my jeans and T-shirt I pulled on the new gear. The bottoms are a nice spandex silk gray color with blue material at the waist. The top is a neon yellow, blue, and gray mix made from the same material as the shorts so it hugs my body and I feel powerful in them. I thought about wearing a pair of new sneakers but when with my old pair that have been broken in, then it was off to the training ground. With ten minutes to spare, I hit the ground running as soon as the front door closed behind me. This will be a good warm-up.
The path at the back of my house leads to the open field where my mom and I trained. My mom was already on the field and was now looking at me with raised brows.
"What in name of sweet baby Jesus are you wearing child?" All my previous training gear consists of ankle lent yoga pants and a t-shirt. I open my mouth to answer but she holds up a hand effectively shutting me up.
"Forget I asked, whatever is going on with you whenever you're ready to talk about it we'll talk about it, for now, let's just start your training. "The first thing we're going to do is wake that wolf of yours."
"What? Why?
"You need balance and you can't achieve that with half of yourself. "With you coming into your full power you're going to need to be at one with yourself, so do you want to do it or do you want me to."
"Mom, do we have to I'm doing fine with just the witch half."
"You'll do even better with both halves."
Sighing I sat down on the forest's floor. I'd planned to wake Wynter after I graduate and moved to Europe but after my run-in with Jason, I'd decided I might have to wake her up earlier. I'd wanted to wait until the equinox run which was six weeks from today.
"If I'm going to wake Wynter I'm going to talk with her first."
