-EVELYN'S ROOM-
Dave was currently looking through the window, observing the British guards at the front gate of the hotel and saw them marching along the encircling parapet.
He then turns away from the window due to boredom and frustration and says, "To hell with this! I'm goin' downstairs to get me a drink. You want somethin' ?"
Dave was talking to Henderson who is also in the room with him keeping watch over Evelyn, was laid back and enjoying a cigar.
He takes a break from it and asks, "Yeah. Yeah, get me a glass of bourbon."
"All right." Dave said as he was walking out the door.
Realizing that just a glass of bourbon wasn't enough for him, he gets up from the chair and quickly asks, "And a shot of bourbon."
"Yeah, okay, okay-" Dave said as he was already out the door.
"And a bourbon chaser!" Henderson yelled out the door.
"Yeah, yeah, I'll get you your damn bourbon!" Dave shouted in frustration as he was already out of sight.
Henderson closes the door and goes back to being laid back and back to his chain smoking.
Feeling around in his jacket pocket, he takes out one of the canopic jars that he acquired at the tomb and fondles around with it.
Being quite playful, he sets it down on the chair and takes aim at it with his handy revolver that he always has strapped to himself.
"Hands where I can see 'em." he says towards the jar and spins his revolver around.
Just then, a chilling breeze suddenly comes in through the open window that Dave was looking through not long ago.
Henderson, still feeling quite fearful and weary from everyone's encounter with Imhotep, quickly moves his aim from the canopic jar to the open window.
Curtains fluttering and ominous whispering could vaguely be heard.
Henderson, cocks the hammer on his revolver, slowly creeps towards the window with his gun still aimed and at the ready.
As he gets up right in front of the window, he takes a peek outside before closing the shutters,
However, before he could even think of closing them, a BLAST of sand hits him right in the face and sends him flying to the middle of the room.
Henderson is then lifted in mid air by the swirling sands. His body twisting and turning and slowly shriveling as the literal life of him is sucked out.
His now shriveled and dried up body is then tossed aside.
The causer of this gruesome death was none other than Imhotep who, because of Henderson's death, now looks regenerated even further and looks almost normal now with some minor damage that adorned his face.
He steps over Henderson's body and walks up to the door of where Evelyn was locked up in and reaches for the handle.
It's locked and Imhotep grins as he slowly turns his body into sand and sends his body in the keyhole through to the other side of the door.
On the other side of the door, he returns back to his original form from the little mound of sand that had accumulated from the keyhole.
He slowly walks towards the bed in the center of the room where we can see Evelyn's sleeping figure.
Imhotep then walks up to her and sits down on the edge of the bed beside her.
"Anck-Su-Namun" he whispers before as he leans in for a kiss.
BOOM
That is, before he could even lay his lips on her, the door breaks open from its hinges and flies past Imhotep and through the window.
"DID YA MISS ME!"
-BACK TO DEIMOS-
"AHHH!!" Evelyn had awakened now and started screaming as she saw how close she was with Imhotep.
"Get your hands off my girl, pal!" Rick yelled while glaring at Imhotep.
"Glad you finally admitted my boy." I said while smacking his back with a playful expression on my face.
Though I did try to hold back some strength, I guess I should hold it back even more considering Rick's angry expression quickly turned to one of a painful one and he started to weakly groan.
"My bad. Sorry." I said apologetically as I stepped back from him and looked back at baldy here.
"So that's what you look like? Bald and still weird looking?" I said as I observed Imhotep's slightly normal appearance.
Well, normal as in he finally has skin and I can tell he's actually human and slightly as in his mouth was completely rotten to the bone and was licking them with his fetid tongue.
"Nice lips." I said as I walked towards him getting ready for a fight to break out.
"Wait, hang on." Rick said as he held me back and turned to Imhotep and said "Look what I got." and pulls up a cat.
The cat hisses at Imhotep who now looks completely frightened.
He shrieks and stumbles towards the open window that had broken earlier from when I punched the door open.
As for why I punched it with such force?
I just saw him leaning in for a kiss and that got me riled up.
Though I know she can't be mine, I might as well do Rick a solid.
Anyways, we all saw Imhotep swirling into a whirlwind of sand and EXPLODE through the window.
Jonathan aims his gun at the window, his hands still trembling from what had happened just now.
"You all right?" Rick asked Evelyn.
"Well, I'm not quite sure." Jonathan replies instead of his sister.
"Not you, you oaf, your sister." Rick turned to Jonathan and then walked to Evelyn, who was still shocked on her bed.
"He almost kissed me. With his vile mouth." she says still processing the events.
Dave walked in right at this moment and saw everything that had occurred.
Pieces of destroyed furniture, a broken window, a doorway with its hinges ripped open.
He finally noticed Henderson's shriveled and much dead body on the floor last…and dropped his martini and Henderson's request of bourbon.
-SCENE CHANGE-
We were currently headed towards the library/museum place to figure out more about the black book and what to counter it with.
Though I already knew what it was, I couldn't just tell them about it.
I sat in the back of Jonathan's 1923 Dussenberg convertible with Dave, while Jonathan, Evelyn and Rick were sat at the front, all in that order.
Though I was pretty quiet with Dave on the way there, Evelyn and Rick were not.
I did lean in closer to them and overheard some stuff.
Seems like they were getting closer as I heard Evelyn asking Rick, "You called me, 'your girl' ?"
Rick jumping in his seat and the recoil of the chair hitting my face.
"What?...Oh yeah, that was just…a figure of speech." Rick said sheepishly.
"I think you were jealous." Evelyn said with a knowing smirk.
"Jealous? You kiddin' me? Did you see that guy's face?" Rick said, trying to counter her.
Simple conversations like this were heard all throughout our drive as we entered the driveway of the Museum of Antiquities.
We all got out of the car with Rick assisting Evelyn out and entered through inside.
We were met with Ardeth Bay and the owner who were waiting for our arrival.
Rick was asking her about what we should be looking for and Evelyn's response was, "Well, according to legend, the black book the Americans found at Hamunaptra is supposed to bring people back from the dead. Until now, it was a notion I was unwilling to believe."
"Believe it. That's what brought our friend back to life." Rick said.
"And now, he's going to use it to bring his girlfriend back." Jonathan said.
"If he succeeds, the two of them will bring about the apocalypse." Ardeth chimes in.
The owner joined Evelyn at her side as we all headed up the stairs to the second floor of the museum and said "The plagues we've seen so far, are merely Imhotep flexing his muscles. Only at the moment of Anck-Su-Namun's resurrection will he truly be invincible."
"Sure. But I don't think he can ever beat me 1 on 1." I said with a scoff feeling complete confidence in myself.
Everyone who had already witnessed my skill or heard of it had agreed in unison as we headed up.
"Agreed" "But of course." "You betcha."
"Yes. I'm thinking that if the black book can bring people back from the dead then-" Evelyn was about to explain but was interrupted by Rick who seemed to have figured it out.
"Then maybe the gold book can kill him."
"That's the myth." Evelyn said. "Now we just have to find where the gold book is hidden."
As we were heading towards a room that Evelyn said held an artifact so that we could begin our research, everyone stopped in their tracks as we could all hear the vague phrases of "Imhotep".
"Imhotep...Imhotep…Imhotep"
We all rushed over to a big window that overlooked the driveway and saw a large crowd of people marching with torches and various forms of melee weapons in their hands.
The crazed mob had hideous boils and sores on their skins, probably from one of the other plagues and were chanting with no machines, "Imhotep…Imhotep…"
"It has begun. The beginning of the end. They have become his slaves." Ardeth said.
"Not quite yet it hasn't. Let us make haste." Evelyn said.
She led us towards a room with two large iron-like doors.
"There should be a stone with an engraving that should help lead us to where the golden book may be in this room." Evelyn said as he tried to open the door.
"Let me." I gently moved her aside and easily opened the large doors.
In the room that was now illuminated through the torches that everyone picked up earlier, a large broken slab of iron was sitting in a display case at the center.
Evelyn and the owner quickly moved towards the slab and started to decipher it slowly.
They did have some difficulties so I volunteered to help them out.
Now that I've maxed out my hieroglyphic translation skill, I made quick work on the slab.
"Alright, so it says since the black book is inside the statue of Anubis-" I said before I was rudely interuppted.
"I thought the golden book was there instead?" The owner said.
"Nope, we found the black book in the base of the statue." Dave said, confirming my translation.
"...then the golden book is inside…statue of Horus in Hamunaptra." I said.
"Alright sounds good. I'll-" Jonathan was about to say before he was abruptly interrupted from the mob of people who had broken through the front door.
"Alright! I'm starting the car!" Jonathan yelled out as he bolted out of the room and out the museum.
The museum was soon being flooded in with the crazed mob of people shortly after he left so we all followed suit and made it outside to where Jonathan had parked.
"Get this thing in gear, boy! Let's get outta here!" Dave said as he jumped over into the car.
"Evy! Evy, c'mon hurry up!" Jonathan yelled as he pulled Evelyn into the car with Rick's help.
"IMHOTEP! IMHOTEP!" was screamed loudly by none other than Beni.
It seems he was with that mob of people and had blended in well with them.
"IMHOTEP THEY'RE OVER HERE!" Beni screamed as he pointed at us.
Above Beni, through the large circular window of the second floor, we saw Imhotep.
He unhinged his jaw, mouth stretched to inhuman size and let out his horrific shrieks.
His disease ridden slaves had all run outside the museum just as the convertible peeled out of the driveway.
Rick pointed at Beni with absolute anger and yelled "You're gonna get what's yours, Beni! You hear me!"
"You're gonna get yours!" Rick said one last time as we sped away.
"Oh, like I've never heard that before!" Beni yelled out to Rick.
As we sped away, Imhotep's lot started to give chase and quickly started going after us.
Soon we headed into the bazaar as it was our only exit way towards the outside.
The convertible hauled ass down the narrow streets. Crazies started to jump out from stalls and leaping onto the car.
Me, Rick, Ardeth and Dave fought them off by throwing them overboard.
Though I did tell them after the first encounter to be careful and not kill them. They were just innocent people who had gotten mind-controlled and weren't necessarily evil.
Since we weren't going nearly as fast as we had when we left, it was okay for us to throw them overboard.
After a few more occurrences like that, it started to die down and the street became wider. We sped up a little with the mob of people still hot on our trails.
During all the action that occurred, we didn't notice that we had one less missing from the group in the car.
Dave was missing as we all had just noticed when things quieted down somewhat.
Just then we all heard a blood-curdling scream of Dave.
Oh right, he dies here. Poor dude.
The convertible slowed down to make a turn but just then, a crazed slave jumped through the windshield and surprised Jonathan so much that he lost control of the car and crashed into a wall.
Rick grabbed Evelyn as we all got out of the car with the crowd still behind us.
We tried to escape but the festering crowd quickly surrounded us.
The crowd parted ways for Imhotep to walk through and stop in front of us, now looking completely regenerated.
"It's the creature. He's fully regenerated." said the owner.
-IN ANCIENT EGYPTIAN-
"Come with me, my princess. It is time to make you mine for all eternity." Imhotep said.
"Take my hand, and I will spare your friends." Imhotep said as he extended his hand to Evelyn.
"Aren't you forgetting someone?" I said surprising Imhotep and everyone else.
"You." Imhotep quickly retracts his hand and stares daggers at me.
I slowly walked right in front of him and looked down to meet his eyes. Of course I'll abuse the fact that I'm like 3 inches taller than this dude.
"Me." I said as I stared menacingly with my demented smiling slowly taking form.
-IN ENGLISH-
I guess, not wanting to see her friends get hurt or something, Evelyn quickly rushes over to me and says, "You guys better have a plan or you're the first one I'm coming after."
"You can try." I said with a smirk and a quick "Thanks."
"No!" Rick said as he pointed his gun at Imhotep.
"He still has to take me to Hamunaptra to complete the ritual" she quickly said to calm him down.
"She's right. Live today, fight tomorrow." Ardeth said to further calm him down.
Evelyn and Rick stared lovingly at each other and Rick looked at Imhotep with a glare and said, "I'll be seeing you again."
As Imhotep began walking away, dragging along Evelyn by the hand, Beni walked up to Jonathan and grabbed the key he had hid in his jacket.
"Kill them all!" Imhotep said in ancient Egyptian much to Evelyn's shock.
As Imhotep and Evelyn had disappeared, the crazed crowd started to walk a step closer to us, then another step and then another step. All while slowly chanting 'Imhotep.'
'Eve. What are my chances of surviving if I go all out?' I mentally asked.
{You could probably come out unscathed if it was just you. But since you also would have to most likely protect everyone else, that probability comes to almost nil.}
"Big yikes." I muttered out.
"Deimos, help me out here!" Rick snapped me out of my thoughts and pointed to a drainage grate.
"Oh, smart." I said as I quickly yanked it out and tossed it at the crowd.
I volunteered to keep watch as the crowd got ever closer while our group jumped down to the sewer system.
When it was just me and the owner left, I signaled for him to jump down as the crowd stepped even closer towards us.
The owner however, was hesitant and decided to stay back. He simply looked at me and said "Keep everyone safe. I'll distract them so they won't come after you lot."
He then proceeded to run straight into the crowd trying to avoid being caught and getting all their attention so that we could escape without conflict.
Feeling bad for his self-sacrifice, I just stood there and gave a calm and collected salute.
"Thank you, old man." I whispered and went down to meet the others.
-SCENE CHANGE-
When I landed on the cold and smelly water, all I could think about was if I could've just killed Imhotep from the get go and avoid all the death that was caused from Imhotep's awakening.
'C'mon Deimos. No need to think that way. This is just how the plot goes.' I told myself.
'Let's pick a calmer movie next.' I decided.
"Deimos, where's the curator?" Rick asked me.
"He wanted to stay back and distract them while we escaped. We should be thanking him for that." I said solemnly.
Everyone understood and just waited in silence.
Since the sewage area in Egypt at this point in time wasn't that big, there really wasn't any place we could go but to stay here and wait for the area to clear out.
Hopefully by morning we should be able to leave and get to the airport.
"Rick, you know where your fighter pilot's airfield is? We can take a plane to Hamunaptra and get there before Imhotep. We might get the drop on him." I asked Rick.
"Oh, Winston? Yeah, I've been there a few times. Let's head out at dawn and get some rest first." he said.
"Sounds good." Ardeth said.
It was at this point that I hadn't heard from Jonathan and turned to ask him something.
Except…
Where was he?
